The Lincoln Youth Center located over on G Street was once a place of smiles and enjoyment. Children could come to partake in various sports. Those kids not built for sports were not left out. The center included various rooms where the kids could learn how to play instruments or even cook. A large swimming pool was one of the highlights during the hot summer months. Even now the center was a place where kids could feel safe. Wilson Jefferies, the man that ran the center made sure that the ganags stayed away from the center and the kids that came there.

Tonight, however, that warning was going to be ignored.

The Southside C's had been recently gaining courage to strike out more at the general populace. this knewfound confidence translated in even stepping up pressure on the one man in Lincoln that was strong enough to force them away.

Wilson Jefferies closed the door to his office and locked it. It was a very cold day, a little bit of snow was still on the streets. Mr. Jefferies pulled his jacket closed to fight the chill of the night air and looked down at his watch. 9:30pm. Later than he thought. Most of the day, he spent shoveling the basketball court as well as making sure there was hot chocolate for the few kids brave enough to come out in the cold weather.

Now it was time for him to head home to the comforts of his own bed. He had just reached the main door when he heard the sound of breaking glass. Wilson stopped, his head a inch from the door handle. It had been years since he wore the mantle of his alter-ego, Black Avenger, but the skills that kept him alive was still in effect. Slowly he turned and moved back towards the sound. As he moved, here another sound coming from one of the storage rooms. A thief most likely he thought as he slowly opened the door.

The room was dark but Wilson knew how to get around in teh dark. He slowly moved deeper into the room until finally he saw a young boy standing in front of a broken window, glass underneth his feet. The boy was dressed like a member of the Southside C's but was much too young to be sporting the gang's colors. The young boy smiled suddenly and it was the only warning Wilson had before the bat came crashing upon his head, turning his world to darkness.

Chill Out

Chill Out spent the next few days checking the street trying to find out exactly what the SOuthside C's had planned at the Youth Center. His hard work over the three days since stopping the attack on Javier Cruz had paid off.

The Southside C's were out to get any and everyone who had thwarted their plans in the past. Javier was just one of many on that list. Chill Out was able to determine that the number one person on the list was Wilson Jefferies, the man that run the Youth Center. Wilson was known as being a very outspoken person against the gang as well as a community leader. If the Southside C's were going to try to do anything big, they would need to take out Wilson first.

The night was chilly but it was nothing to one with Chill Out's abilities. The cold of the night could not touch the hero and he was able to reach a nearby building that afforded him a view of the Youth Center. At first glance, everything looked fine--the building was dark which was normal at this time of night.

However, it was after ten and yet a lone car still sat in the parking lot before the center. Someone hadn't driven home but with no visible lights on, Chill Out was unsure if there was anyone still inside.

ArmyofOne

Benjamin looked up at the street signed. G Street. Strange name for a street name but then again Freedom was full of strange things. It was one of the first time for Benjamin to enter Lincoln. Until recently, the hero had kept his heroic duties to more safe areas, but a recent encounter with a gang led him to Lincoln. It seemed that the Southside C's were out to get some payback on the guy running the Youth Center.

teh Lincoln Youth Center was only a few more buildings down the street from his location. He had a good view of the area and could make out the lone car sitting before the building. The windows were all dark which was normal for this time of night but his information had said whatever was going to go down it was going to happen around ten.

Benjamin looked at his watch and saw that it was ten now yet the streets were still too quiet.

As is normal for ArmyofOne, none of his duplicates are currently present, and he is trying his best to stay hidden in his location and look around.

So that is what he does for the moment.

He looks: 1d20+3=15

And stays hidden: Stealth 2 (+5)--take ten (Skill Mastery) Total 15 taking ten, if allowed, if not then

1d20+5=25

Benjamin ducks behind a garbage can and keeps watch on the building for a while. It's cold but he easily ignores the chill. His patience however pays off as he sees a group of young men walking towards the Youth Center.

The small group consisted of five men all dressed in the Southside C's colors. They were passing a bottle of what must have been whisky among themselves as well as carrying duffle bags. Benjamin's position was slightly too far for him to get any words of their conversation but he could see the eagerness in their steps.

Instead of heading to the front door, the group stopped and looked around. Their eyes go over Benjamin's hiding place and their gaze stop. A quick word amongst them and one of the men began to walk directly back towards Benjamin's location.

Ben stood up in plain sight as the gangbanger came towards him, a smile on his lips and an eager cant to his body. ArmyofOne said, "You can walk away if you like. Or be made an example of. Up to you. Eitehr way, you are not causing trouble here and now."

The thug stopped about thirty feet from Benjamin's location and cracked his knuckles. He looked back at his buddies to see them watching the encounter closely.

"Man, you just don't know what kind of butt whooping you're gonna get!"

"Man, you just don't know what kind of butt whooping you're gonna get!"

ArmyofOne smiles, "Absolutely none at all, actually." and a second man walks out from near the garbage can where ArmyofOne was hiding. He is also a muscular lad and then a third one walks out, flanking ArmyofOne, standing in a line with him.

ArmyofOne says, "Come on anytime."

The thug ws surprised by the sight of the two extra guys appear from behind the garbage can. Still, he had stepped up to face the lone man and with his companions watching on, he couldn't back down now. The thug charged in on Benjamin. Benjamin was easily able to parry the blow.

As the Thug comes towards him, Ben pivots on his left foot and grabs the thug's shoulder and forearm as he starts to go by. The thug accelerates rapidly as Ben gets goo leverage on him and tosses him into the brick wall ten feet away. The solid *clonk* sound reveals why the thug does not get up.

ArmyofOne comes back to his resting position, having maintained perfect balance throughout his spin and says to his two buddies, "Get them!" and summons a third duplicate.

Duplicate one, a red-haired caucasian, does a leaping strike at one of the approaching gangbangers and connects solidly with th gangbanger's forehead, putting him down and out, but Dupe #1 is a bit off balance (-2 to def)

Duplicate #2, a sicilian-looking man with dark black hair and eyes sweeps one Gangbanger after he charges. Th sweep bounches the gangbanger's head off the pavement with an even louder *clonk* than before.

With three of the five gangbangers down in an instant ArmyofOne says, "Ready to go home and watch TV?"

The two remainging thugs, were surprised at how quickly their companions were dropped but they quickly drew their pistols from behind their backs. With the handguns in hand, they fired quickly into the two men closest to them.

The first bullet smacks one of the Duplicates dropping him. The other shooter fails to hit his target.

The ring of gunfire is loud in the dark night and is sure to have attracted attention.

Posted

Dupe 3 moves over quickly to attack the thugs who shot down one of the dupes, and the two remaining thugs go down quickly under the assaults of the two duplicates over near them. ArmyofOne summons one more duplicate and then says, "Pick up whatever stuff they were carrying."

and they pick up guns, and the bags, but not wallets or other valuables.

ArmyofOne then looks around for any trouble and he sees.....

RED STAR

The city was fairly quiet this cold night. Usually used to patrolling in other parts of the city, the slow night brought the hero out to Lincoln. Flying over the rooftops, he hears the sound of two quick shots that ring in the night's air.

It doesn't take him long to realize that the shots came from the Lincoln Youth Center.

It didn't take loong for him to change his course and head over to the area.

Posted

ArmyofOne has his dupes pick up the guns as well as the bags the thugs were carrying when he heard the sound of something coming towards the youth center and his duplicates. Looking up in the sky, he catches glimpse of something moving in his direction.

Ground level from his location still near the garbage cans that he hid behind, he sees no other signs of trouble.

His duplicates however do. They spot a door closing along the side of the youth center and hear the fading sound of feet on tiled flooring.

Posted

Red Star always loved the night air. It was just something about it that was so calm and peaceful, which made the sound of gunfire particularly irksome. "Who in their right mind would go and ruin a great night like this? Guess I got to go teach them a lesson." Feeling the now familiar feeling of energy surging through his body, Red Star turned on his heels and rocketed off towards the Youth Center.

Arriving on scene, he scanned the area looking for signs of the perpetrators, but sadly observation was not one of his powers.

Posted

When ArmyofOne hears the sound of someone coming (I assume the fight is not subtle) he moves quickly to the door he saw closing, moving to get inside before whatever made that sound arrives.

He sends two of his duplicates in first before he enters the door.

OOC: I guess it is up to the DM who moves first.

Red Star caught sight of a group of men moving around the side of the Youth center. By the time the hero landed on site, the men were out of sight. Red Star could see a side door swinging shut.

Just then, he heard more gun shots coming from inside the Youth Center. Whatever was happening this cold night, it was happening within the dark Youth Center.

Posted

Red Star now had a choice to make, does he chase after the people by the door or go to the sound of gunshots... Okay that was a simple choice, guns win everytime. He makes a B-line for the source of the gunfire, even going through windows and doors if he has to, though he does try to avoid putting holes in walls. Not only does he not try to do so quietly, he tries to be as unsubtle as possible, not particularly hard when you glow in the dark.

When he arrives at the source of the gunfire he sees...

Posted

REd Star blasts through the window and down a few corridors, following the sound of gunfire. He blasts through a few doors as well, making his presence known well before he reaches the lower level of the Youth center.

He enters a large room where he saw a man laid bleeding from bullets wounds near the door. His chest still rose indicating that he lived, but that could change. In the center of the room was an older man, tied to a chair. His head was head back by a thug with a knife to his throat. Flanking both sides and slightly apart, were four other thugs, with small machine guns aimed directly at Red Star. Obviously, his noise approach gave the thugs time to prepare for his arrival.

The thug behind the tied man smiled at Red Star, obviously recognizing the hero. "Man, why you have to come in here messing with our little talk with Wilson here? Don't you know that the Southside C's don't like having their talks interrupted? Take a look at your buddy there. We showed him a thing or two." He pressed the knife against Wilson's throat and red Star could still see the fight in the beaten man's eyes. Though his mouth was covered with tape to prevent him from speaking, his eyes were still clear.

Posted

The Thugs watched the hero and the tension slowly biult. Suddenly all four thugs opened fire on the hero. It was strange that he was only hit once.

The leader continued to watch, his knife still pressed against Wilson's neck.

Posted

Red Star crosses his arms over his face instinctively when the shots start firing. A ploom of red energy surrounds Red Star and protects him from harm. Opening his eyes tentatively, Red Star notices that he is still quite alright, and isn't bleeding too badly, this is a good sign. The shocked expressions on the faces of the thugs is even better. Red Star holds his arms out in front of him like he's holding a basketball, and the red energy begins to swirl into a ball in between his hands. When enough energy has been summoned, Red Star brings the ball of energy above his head, crying "Wrong guy to mess with!" before unleashing the energy in a wave before him, careful to avoid the hostage.

The leader manages to escape most of the blast, and only the thug on the far right is as lucky. However, the gang leader is still overcome by the blast as is the last thug. The other thugs didn't stand a chance. Just like that the only one left standing is Red Star.

Surverying the damage, Red Star gives a quick laugh "Hehe. Sorry if I scared you there. Lemme get you out of that thing." With a quick tear, Red Star busts the bonds holding Wilson. "What happened here?" he asked to the newly freed Wilson.

Posted

With the thugs all down and his bonds broken, Wilson stands up. Though the man is obviously showing his age, he still seems in fine shape. The beating he took from the thugs hadn't broken him.

"They jumped me while I was closing up the center for the night. They slapped me around for a while but I think you got here before they could do anything worse. If I was a few years young, they would never have gotten the drop on me."

Wilson looked around at the unconcious thugs while he rubbed his wrists. "Not bad. Effecient and very effective. You're Red Star, aren't you? I've seen you in the papers and Tv. Glad you came around when you did."

Posted

"No thanks necessary, it's what I do. Alright, why don't you got call the police before these guys come to. And what about your friend over here? Should I drop him off at the hospital, or should we not move him?" Now that the bad guys had been beaten it was clear that Red Star had little idea on what to do next. Red Star may be an up and comer, but he is still very much a rookie.

Posted

Wilson seemed to understand the young hero's indecision and he quickly took control of the situation.

"Why don'T you take that other fella to the hospital. I'll call the cops and see about getting them locked up. I still don't know what got them so riled up to begin with. I'll have to keep an eye on their activity in the future."

Wilson moved over towards the leader but turned to look at Red Star. "Thanks again, Red Star. It's heroes like you that make this city safe. If I ever find out the reason why they started this mess, I'll contact you."

It doesn't take Red Star long to to get the wounded man to the hospital. He was asked a few questions at teh hospital and gave the best answers that he could. All in all, it was another good night.
