Lilac Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 "Agnes, how much longer is this going to take?" When the rich girl spoke, a cold chill ran down Agnes' spine that had nothing to do with the words she heard. She was overwhelmed by the desire to either call the sword to her hand or run away as hard as she could. Her hands started trembling. "We're close," she said weakly. She turned and looked back at Lucy, not entirely sure what she'd see.
Barnum Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 "We're close," she said weakly. She turned and looked back at Lucy, not entirely sure what she'd see. "Did you see that? She completely disrespected you. She thinks she's better than you . . . or worse . . . she's leading you into a trap. She wants to hurt you. That's why she can't look you in the eye." The voice that sounded off in Lucy's head wasn't her own, but its cadence was so familiar and its tone so seductive that the girl embraced every word and made it hers. The shadow, while whispering its sweet nothings into Lucy's soul, stretched out one of its long spiteful tendrils toward Agnes. It dared not speak directly to her mind. They were still strangers, and this girl was powerful in ways that Lucy was not. But the shadow wasn't helpless. It had powers of another kind. As the girls continued walking silently down the corridor, Agnes was suddenly overcome with terror . . . mind-numbing, soul-destroying terror. She couldn't see. She couldn't hear. She couldn't think. All she could do was fear, and in that instant, she only had two choices: collapse to the floor, succumb to the fear, and die, or fight and defend herself.

Affliction Posted December 8, 2007 Author Posted December 8, 2007 She's going to kill you. Don't be a wuss! Lucy's heart was beating in her throat, and her ears were ringing. Before she knew what was happening, Lucy charged forward and gave Agnes a hard shove, slamming her face first into the wall. Everthing about it was delicious. The feel of the sweatshirt held tightly in her white-knuckled grip. The sound of her face thudding against the wall, and like an addict she was waiting with terrific anticipation for what would come next: screams of pain, tears, blood!

Lilac Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 Agnes' face slammed against the rough brick wall. The loud smacking sound rang in her ears and stars danced in front of her face. She sucked in her breath, but was so shocked and scared that she couldn't scream. Warm blood was flowing freely from her nose. This was the moment of truth: fight or die. Blinking the tears out of her eyes, Agnes jerked herself around, pulling her sweatshirt out of Lucy's grip. She struck out with her fist and connected soundly with Lucy's mouth. Agnes didn't feel anything. She was entirely numb, acting only on blind (and alien) instincts.

Affliction Posted December 8, 2007 Author Posted December 8, 2007 Lucy eyes went wide with shock at the blow. Her lip was split wide open and her head was still ringing from the blow. How dare she! Kill her! Kill her! Lucy put her hands to her face, smearing the blood across her chin. She kicked at Agnes, trying to drive the pointy toe of her Dolce and Gabbanas into Agnes flesh and bone.

Lilac Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 Lucy kicked Agnes square on her knee. With an audible pop, the girl's leg gave way and she toppled over. The fear was starting to well up inside her again, threatening to overwhelm her soul. Panicked, Agnes groped out around her and found the old broom she had been using lying beside her on the floor. She gripped it tight and without trying to stand, jabbed Lucy hard in the stomach with the rounded end.

Affliction Posted December 8, 2007 Author Posted December 8, 2007 Agnes knocked all of the wind out of Lucy's lungs with that blow to her stomach, and Lucy's breakfast nearly made a reappearance. Lucy was done. She felt like she was going to pass out. All she wanted to do was sit down and cry. What in the world was she doing?!? She has a weapon! If you give up now, you are done for! Lucy sucked in as much air as she could to try to stave off fainting, and with a pitiful grunt, she dove at the church girl, trying her best to wrap her thin fingers around her neck and slam her head against the stone floor.

Lilac Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 Agnes was caught completely by surprise with the lunge. Lucy pushed Agnes down hard and climbed on top of her, fighting her way past Agnes arms and knocking the boom out of her hands. Agnes tired to push the rich girl away, but Lucy was already straddling her stomach, and Agnes just wasn't strong enough to push her off. Lucy grabbed Agnes by the wrists and forced her arms to the floor above her head, and then in a flash, she had Agnes around the throat. Agnes tried to claw at her face, but Lucy wouldn't relent. Lucy retaliated at having her face scratched by pulling up on Agnes' neck and then slamming the back of her head into the stone floor. Agnes' vision blurred on impact and her ears began to ring, but oddly, it didn't hurt. Her head felt completely numb. "This is the end," the Shadow whispered into her ear with great satisfaction, but Agnes was past fearing. The world of her own mind was a indiscernible blur.

Affliction Posted December 8, 2007 Author Posted December 8, 2007 Lucy felt the church girl go limp beneath when her head hit the floor. Still clutching her neck, Lucy stared down in the Agnes' face. Her nose and lips were bloody, and she was as pale as a sheet. Lucy's stomach churned at the sight, and a wave of pity washed over her. The shadow felt it too. "You can't stop now! Finish her! It's what she diserves." Lucy was conivinced. Still squeezing as tight as she could, Lucy lifed Agnes' neck again. Her head flopped back, completely limp. THUD! Lucy slammed Agnes' head into the stone floor again.
