Avenger Assembled Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 "I have come for you." Avenger had disappeared from Phantom's side as the demon emerged, and now appeared flanking the hellspawn, putting the monster between himself and Taylor. "Now is the hour." He smashed the golf club he'd discarded earlier into the demon's skull, a small spray of fluid falling across his mask. It was a solid hit, and he did it again, black and white rage terrifyingly silent in the brightly lit golf course.
alderwitch Posted September 1, 2009 Author Posted September 1, 2009 Phantom materialized, her hands focused in a blast of crackling energy that hit the ferocious creature dead on in its chest as she floated ephemerally above the ground. Despite the angry bellowing, only Avenger's first blow seemed to penetrate the creature's thick hide. The demon's tail lashed back and forth and it slammed another taloned foot on the castle, cracking the pink plaster further. It snorted once, flames licking around its nose and mouth and Phantom paused in the act of rasing her hands again. Enforcer demons don't breath fire, right?
Avenger Assembled Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 "Me again." Avenger was now actually behind the demon, bravely interposing himself between the hellspawn and the mouth of Hell itself. "Tell your friends I'm coming for them." With a sudden scream of rage, he vaulted into the air and brought the club down on the demon's head again, his eyes blazing with murderous rage.
alderwitch Posted September 1, 2009 Author Posted September 1, 2009 Phantom fired another bolt that the creature shook off with a growl before it breathed out a stream of fire that covered the golfcourse with brightly burning flames. Phantom had time to fling up her arms before the fire washed over her body. Although insubstantial, the cloak wrapping her body caught fire. For a terrfying moment, Phantom struggled with the burning fabric. She managed to rip out of the confines of the cloak but not before her hands were seared by the flames. The pain staggered her and she curled her hands against her stomach out of instinct.
Avenger Assembled Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 "PHANTOM!" Avenger tried something new, focusing his will on the demon and glaring malevolently. "Stop attacking us. You are not wanted here." Unfortunately, he had a feeling that this guy was made of sterner stuff than the usual hoodlums he tried that trick on.
alderwitch Posted September 16, 2009 Author Posted September 16, 2009 Shockingly, the demon stopped and gave Avenger a befuddled and quizzical look. As it paused, trying to digest the order which seemed wrong even to it's thick skull, Phantom hissed a curse and a bolt of lightning scorched its hide. The demon rocked back with an angry bellow. Not willing to risk a second dose of that fire, Phantom solidified and summoned a forcefield that would hopefully take the brunt of any further attacks.
Avenger Assembled Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 "And there's more where that came from. Return to Hell," Avenger told the demon, pushing his power to the utmost. He had the demon now, but any further attacks from Phantom would betray his secret and free the beast. "Tell them this territory is claimed. If your people come here again, you'll get more of the same. We'll hunt down and destroy you all if you don't leave RIGHT NOW."
alderwitch Posted September 20, 2009 Author Posted September 20, 2009 The demon gave Avenger a final, almost confused look, before it vanished in a belch of sulfur. Fortunately, neither of the heroes near it needed to breathe. Phantom waved a hand, pulling water from the small lake to douse the remaining flames before she landed and stomped over to the remains mini castle. She was muttering under her breath, none of the words in English and none of them sounding terribly polite. She gestured with one hand, which still hurt as her hands were still healing up under the gloves and there was a grinding, crunching noise as the pink castle was lifted in the air and crushed into a thick ball of plaster by the black energies Phantom wielded. At least Phantom's temper worked in Jack's favor as she was too pissed at being the target of another demon attack to focus on it following Jack's questions. Or even question that Jack had been able to 'intimidate' the monster, "There's got to be a summoning circle around here." She gestured to clear the last of the rubble away and leaned over the hastily scrawled pentagram in the ground beneath the castle. "Hmph."
Avenger Assembled Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 Avenger dealt with the summoning circle by means of a golf club, waiting for Phantom to take its full measure before dragging his sharp object across it hard enough to cut it in two. "Problem solved," he said, a raspy chuckle in his voice. "Back to your place? We can solve things." He didn't sound like he had a whole lot of deduction on his mind.
alderwitch Posted October 3, 2009 Author Posted October 3, 2009 Phantom stood, the sharp little smile playing about the corners of her lips more visable as her cloak was still smoldering on the astro-turf. She gave a quick gesture to banish the folds of the cloak back to the void where it would mend itself once more. She stepped close enough to rest one hand on his back as she murmured, "My place it is." With a swirl of shadows they vanished even as Freedom City's finest began to arrive in the minigolf parking lot.
