MarkK Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 He watches as the pair take the stage and listens, thouroughly appreciating the beautiful rendition of his favourite carol. He applauds heartily when the song has finished, looking around the room and seeing that others were enjoying it as well. He spots the Emissary standing towards the doorway and makes his way over to him, "Good evening, Emissary. I'm very glad that you could come. How are you finding out city?" "I'm very glad to have been invited. And well, entirely well. I am pleased to be able to cap what has been an exhilirating year for me with festivities such as these." He claps vigorously with the others between songs when they end. "And with such quality entertainment besides!"

Gaea Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 Teke takes the mic, and sits down on a stool provided. "Hi, I'm Teke. And this is my favorite Christmas Song. O Holy Night." He begins to play, a jazzy, soft and sweet rendition of the old classic. He begins to sing. His voice is excellent. Seth reflects on the fact that he is an atheist, but all his favorite songs are religious in background. He locks eyes with Velocity across the room, as he croons, and holiday cheer begins to fortify him further. As he rounds into the second verse, he begins, in his own mind, to sing just for her attention. As if there was no one else in the room.

Heridfel Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 Pseudo nods approvingly during the songs, and claps at the end of them. "I don't even think the Maestro could find anything wrong with that music, though you never know with him," he remarks to Lady Liberty. He frowns slightly, like he hesitates to say what's next. His voice is lower, so his fears aren't broadcast around the room. "I just feel worried, all of us here at once. If someone should try to attack the League, there are a lot of heroes here who wouldn't be safe. And if they threw us all into another dimension again, who'd be left to protect the city?" He shakes his head. "I'm probably worrying too much."

Barnum Posted December 15, 2007 Author Posted December 15, 2007 With a wave, and a smile, and a "Merry Christmas" Lady Liberty excused herself and continued to mingle. The crowd stopped chattering for a moment, a few clapped half-heartedly, and then the drone of lots of simultaneous voices resumed. Frowning slightly, he followed Mr. Lightning inside. Lady Liberty spotted the new hero as he entered. She didn't recognize him, but she didn't send out the invitations, so it was likely that there would be a few people here she didn't recognize. This was a great time to get acquainted, so she walked over to Jack and said, "Hello. I'm Lady Liberty. I don't think we've met. Welcome to Freedom Hall." While she was making her introduction . . . Raindance touched down just in front of the entrance, borne by a gentle flurry of snowflakes - a special effect for the crowd, really, a nod of the head towards the season. Plus, thought Raindance, you never know if there's any hot girls to impress... He gave a shy smile to the throng of journalists and photographers as he walked in. Lady Liberty spotted him out of the corner of her eye about to walk by. She reached out and grabbed his arm. "Hey! Raindance, right? Daedalus briefed me on how you helped out with those teleporting robots. Welcome to Freedom City. I was just getting acquainted with a few new people. Join us."

cosmicarus Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 Captain Thunder looks up at the stage - he's proud. Even though it's his adopted home, he's spent so long protecting this city and it's citizens that it's almost as if, well, that they were an extension of his very family. When people succeed, he feels happy for them, when they mess up, he's disappointed - as if he's known them his whole life. It's a feeling that had become increasingly present over the last few years. He nods, "Yes, Freedom City does produce some exceptional musicians. We have a great art scene in this city - I can imagine that much the same could be said of your Utopia Isles?"

"I don't even think the Maestro could find anything wrong with that music, though you never know with him," he remarks to Lady Liberty. " From his position eating some shrimp, Gordy overhears the alien hero complimenting the singing. Figuring that to be as good a reason as any, he inserts himself into the conversation. "He is quite good isn't he? Maybe even better then me, but then, that's why he a prodigy. I'm High Note. A pleasure to meet you. No need to tell me your name of course. And this must be Lady Liberty." The teenage theater geek takes her hand and, in a manor best described as over the top, kisses it as though he were a member of the French aristocracy. "Enchanté"

Daedalus briefed me on how you helped out with those teleporting robots. Welcome to Freedom City. I was just getting acquainted with a few new people. Join us." "Oh!" Raindance was startled as he was grabbed by Lady Liberty and escorted over to the others. Instinctually his feet were protesting, almost backpedalling. Go you fool! It's Lady Liberty! He smiled at the others gathered. "Um, hi everyone. I'm... Raindance." He finished lamely, knowing that the others had probably already overheard the famous heroine say his name.

Heridfel Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 "It is a pleasure to meet you, High Note. The two of you both far outstrip my musical talents. I've heard that some people prefer instrumental music because it doesn't rely upon a cultural reference, but thankfully, I can understand what is being sung regardless of the the language. I've been meaning to write up some interpretations of Latin chants, but it seems like I never have the time," Pseudo says. He looks over to Lady Liberty and smiles mischieviously. "You seem to be getting a lot of attention, Lady Liberty. If you need a break from all your admirers, I could always become your twin."

He finished lamely, knowing that the others had probably already overheard the famous heroine say his name. "Raindance just recently helped the League save the city from a serious threat," Lady Liberty quickly added to help alleviate the awkwardness. "What are you working on now?" she asked. The question was meant to give the young hero a chance to work himself into the conversation. He looks over to Lady Liberty and smiles mischievously. "You seem to be getting a lot of attention, Lady Liberty. If you need a break from all your admirers, I could always become your twin." "Wouldn't two of me be worse?" Lady Liberty asked, returning the wink. "Besides, getting the kind of attention that doesn't involve death rays or giant robots . . . isn't a bad thing. It's a refreshing change."
