Eviscerus Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 Player's Name: Eviscerus Character's Name: Ricochet Alternate Identity: Richard "Rick" O'Shay Power Level: 10 (154pp) Height: 5'8" Weight: 157 lbs Hair: Brown Eyes: Green Age: 16 Unspent PP: 0 Description: Ricochet likes flashy and colorful things. Which is why he wears a bright green skin tight costume with white burst patterns all over it. His mask covers all but his eyes and mouth, which is always set in a dazzling smile. When not in costume, Rick wears normal street clothes, but always over this he wears a black leather trenchcoat, oiled to a perfect glossy shine. His hair is cut short and usually kept in the "bed-head" style so popular with today's youth. On his fair and unblemished face he wears a sparse soul patch of hair under his lip. History: Rick grew up around love and laughter. Being of irish decent, Rick's home in Freedom City was rarely ever quiet or empty. Aunts, uncles, parents, cousins and siblings all lived in an enormous house in the West End designed to look like a Tuscan Villa. When Rick's parents, John and Marie moved from Ireland to Freedom City, they brought the entire O'Shay clan, and originally moved into a small 3 bedroom apartment. Even though the place was crowded, and work was hard to find, rarely ever did Rick see his parents or any other family members frown or show frustration or depression, no matter how dire the straights, they were happy together. Aiming to please these people who gave him so much love, Rick took to telling them jokes he made up and putting on one man plays when he was a child. Everyone found them terribly amusing and their smiles and laughter always motivated Rick further. Being the youngest (even among cousins), Rick was seen as the baby, and was cherished by the whole clan, this instilled in the boy a self confidence and charm that few could match. Though they were poor, Rick never realized it, as the constant attention and love made him want for nothing. He felt truely rich. When his parents won the Lottery, Rick learned what really being rich was. They moved into their new villa, owned cars, ate at fancy restaraunts, and did all the things they couldn't afford to do before. This, of course, attracted the attention of more than a few vultures, and several attempted robberies happened over the course of Rick's childhood, up until his sixteenth birthday. Rick had just enjoyed an extraordinary party, and was fast asleep when another one of these break-ins occured. He awoke with a jolt, apparently the only one to hear the commotion. Having been through this before, Rick went downstairs and caught the five would be burglars gathering up silver and expensive lap tops and other what nots from the living room. Rick confronted them, attempting to dissuade them from their course of action and give themselves up. They would have none of it however, and as Rick had not alerted authorities or other family members, the thugs decided to jump him. After being rapped upon his head with what looked to be a baton, Rick was knocked unconcious. He awoke some time later, suspended from the roof of the house by a rope tied about his ankles. Rick pleaded with the men to let him down, to spare him, but they just laughed at the boy and beat him with their clubs before letting go of the rope. As he fell, Rick prayed and closed his eyes, wishing that, like in some of the videos he saw of people falling from great heights, that he'd just bounce and come out with a broken leg or something. Something awoke within Rick, and a bubble of what looked like blue energy formed about him, and when he should have splattered against the ground, he merely bounced, and bounced high, landing in a third story balcony of his home. The thugs didn't seem to notice this and had went back into the house to continue their ransacking. Baffled and completely unsure of what happened to him, Rick was only certain of one thing, the anger he felt at being a victim at the hands of these low-lives. Rick stalked back up the stairs, meeting them on the fourth floor landing. Astonished, the thugs just stood there as Rick lashed out, drawing up kinetic energy around his fist, sending one of the thugs crashing through the closed door of his bedroom. The rest of the thugs sprang into action, jumping upon Rick and beating him with the batons. The bubble around Rick, however, absorbed the blows and Rick just laughed at their futile attempts to hurt him. Rick taunted them into trying harder, mocking them with jokes, then remembered his favorite pinball game at the mall. Making a conscious effort to control his strange gift, Rick ran full speed at one of the thugs, his kinetic bubble crashing into the man, sending him to the floor and sending Rick caroming towards another of the thugs. Within seconds, the criminals all lay on the floor unconscious and bruised. Rick's breath came in short gasps, he'd never felt a rush like that before. He looked up to lock eyes with his mother, who had apparently seen the whole altercation, before falling unconscious and not waking up again till dawn. When he awoke, Rick found his entire family about him, smiling, though the smiles were nervous, and telling him how glad they were he was okay. A doctor had come and left while he slept and pronounced he was in perfect health, except for some minor bruising. His parents then told him over breakfast that they wanted to transfer him to a new school, the Claremont Academy, where people with gifts like his could learn to control them. Rick was at first skeptical, but ultimately acquiessed to his parent's will. Personality & Motivation: Rick is a good natured, happy boy, and unlike many his age, have very little to complain about. He likes to talk, a lot, and loves making friends. He comes off as too friendly to some, because of his upbringing, but he sees this as normal behavior and has a hard time understanding the "goth" or "emo" thing a lot of kids his age go through. His mother described him as an "extreme extrovert" and told him he was "destined to be a salesman." Rick's ability to fast talk and weasel his way into getting what he wants (he was pretty spoiled as a kid) is almost legendary among the O'Shay's. Since the attack on him and his home, Rick has done some uncharacteristic thinking about his future, and the violence that is just waiting to spring up, even in gated communities. Rick knows he has a gift, albeit a strange one, and he knows he has to use it for the good of his family, and everyone else who might need him, and so Rick will become a staunch foe against the darker elements of city life, whether they be super villains or street thugs, he sees them all as dangerous, and will do what he can to see them put away. Powers & Tactics: Rick's powers manifest as a ball of blue kinetic force around his body, making him all but impervious to blunt force trauma as well as damage from falling. It also bestows upon him the ability to bounce, and cross great distances quickly. Rick can also manifest a devastating kinetic punch, that can hurl a foe clear across a room and leave them seeing stars. In battle, Rick will most times lead in with what he calls his "Pinball Wizard" attack, bouncing from one foe to another, attempting to lay them out, if he is facing just one foe, he will likely use his kinetic punch. Growing up in a large family has taught Rick much about teamwork, and when working with others, Rick will use his force of personality to set up his teammates, or confuse or demoralize their foes. Complications: Reputation: Fast Talker (Rick has been known to make even the most ridiculous requests seem plausible). This will be my replacement hero for him. His backstory has him joining the Claremont Academy, but if that's a problem it can be easily changed.
Eviscerus Posted October 6, 2009 Author Posted October 6, 2009 I've changed my mind on playing this guy. Go ahead and archive him, I'll have my replacement up soon.
