bootslof Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 no this does not relate to going to the bathroom. im trying to make a character that can eat anything then potentially reassemble the elements in what he ate into an object in his hand. for example, he could eat a shotgun then assemble the wood and metal into a sword in his hand and save the gunpowder for something else. im curious as the the costs/mechanics and formating of such a power.
bootslof Posted October 10, 2009 Author Posted October 10, 2009 shape matter seems to be the main basis of this power, but id like to be able to have the features of matter eater. i just need the proper way to link this stuff together to actually be in the proper format
quotemyname Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 Check out the linked Extra from Ultimate Power
Dr Archeville Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 Eat-Man fan, eh? I would say it does not need Linked. Not unless he wanted to immediately create new things from what he ate. I'd just go with Matter Eater and Create Object, with the Power Loss drawback on the Create Object (must have eaten matter to create an object, and can only create objects of the same matter he's eaten).
bootslof Posted October 11, 2009 Author Posted October 11, 2009 what degree (1 to 3) of a power loss drawback do you think that would be, I'd say at least 2, but id prefer a more educated estimate.
Dr Archeville Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 There is something else to consider: things created with Create Object can't really do anything. For example, you can't make a working gun, since that'd need the Blast power, or a working car, since that's require Speed. You can make walls and cages (since all they need is Toughness), and swords or maces (though the damage would be figured as if using an improvised weapon), but that's it.
bootslof Posted October 11, 2009 Author Posted October 11, 2009 very true, this will not be my characters foundational power, this is more for fun panoplay, i discussed it with Sandman. say a kid gets a "happy meal toy" but wants another one. i eat it and give the kid a new hot wheels car!! i will use it for swords and such during combat, but its primarily just for fun.
Dr Archeville Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 Groovy 8-) I'd got with the Power Loss as a 1pp flaw. Probably won't be many cases where you won't have access to something to eat to re-arrange.
quotemyname Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 *takes a bite out of a brick building* *makes a ceramic bladed sword*
bootslof Posted October 11, 2009 Author Posted October 11, 2009 oh another thing, is there any potential point advantage to saying that i can only create objects so long as its shaped in my hand, as opposed to anywhere i can see? call it drawback -1 range?
quotemyname Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 Probably, yes. Dude... get in chat! It might even be a flaw, Create Object is Ranged by default, so you could probably apply the Range/Touch [-1] flaw and say that I can only create objects directly in front of me/ produce things from my hands.
Dr Archeville Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 Yup, reduce the range to Touch, you've got it in hand.
quotemyname Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 Yup, reduce the range to Touch, you've got it in hand. Literally :P
bootslof Posted October 12, 2009 Author Posted October 12, 2009 ok im trying to tag on the damaging extra so i can have my summoned sword be a bit more efficient / be able to make guns / bows and arrows. any ideas on how many ranks of damaging would be fair? i already tacked on the precise feat, and the subtle feat, and the duration extra.
quotemyname Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 As an extra, it's the same amount of ranks as the power. thats why its an extra, and not a power feat. And I'm not sure, but you may have to buy create object up to your caps just to get it to deal the type of damage you need. (unless this won't be an attack you'll be using all the time)
bootslof Posted October 12, 2009 Author Posted October 12, 2009 (unless this won't be an attack you'll be using all the time) this'll be my main combat style, yes.
quotemyname Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 you might need it to be at full ranks then
Dr Archeville Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Instead of linking/adding things to the Create Object power, you could do an Array. Something like Create Object AP: Blast (created guns) AP: Strike (created melee weapons) and so on
bootslof Posted October 12, 2009 Author Posted October 12, 2009 Create Object AP: Blast (created guns) AP: Strike (created melee weapons) and so on done and done
quotemyname Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 That would have been my other suggestion. However, I wasn't sure what exactly you were looking for. Arrays are magical :)
