Costume

Tom is a post college, pre-workforce, 22-year-old male of Native American decent. Shawnee, specifically. Thomas' medium length black hair is usually tied back in a pony tail that falls to between his shoulder blades on his back. Tom has a rather sturdy build, being no stranger to the workout room. Most of his frame is well muscled, but lacks definition. His stomach, however, is far from being a six-pack, evidence of his college drinking days. Tom usually dresses rather casually, though he knows how to clean up quite well. He greatly prefers to leave his beard unshaven and let his brown hair grow out. Tom usually wears sweatpants and sweatshirts when around the house or jeans and a worn leather jacket when going out. He almost always wears a pair of tan work boots on his feet.

Being a Werewolf, Tom is able to undergo a miraculous transformation and take on a more canine form. He can adopt this form more or less at will, but is more inclined to do so under moments of extreme stress. There are benefits to remaining human. Like having coffee, and chocolate, and having thumbs. But there are times when Wolf knows whats best...

When Tom changes into his Werewolf form he becomes a the epitome of a fearsome beast. One of the most common misconceptions about Werewolf folklore is that a full grown man can shape change into an animal the size of a dog, or conversely, he gains multiple feet in height and a large amount of weight and remains standing on two legs. These rumors are false. In keeping with simple conservation of matter, a two-hundred-fifty pound man can only transform into a very large, very scary two-hundred-fifty pound wolf. In his wolf form, Tom's brown hair covers his entire body and his green eyes remain as iridescent as ever. A black streak of fur runs down the middle of Tom's back and tail in Wolf form. In this from, Tom stands just over four feet tall at the shoulder.

Many of the world's creatures are distinctive in many ways. Almost all of them have distinctive visual markings that allow them to be distinguished from other creatures. However, many creatures have other distinctive features as well. These features are noticeable only by those with keen senses. For instance: Scent. Humans have a very distinctive scent. Each individual varies, it's true, but on a whole humans smell like a mixture of sweat and perfume. They smell like plastic, rubber, coffee, and metal. Were-wolves on the other hand have a very different scent even though they appear human much of the time. Were-wolves smell like the woods. They smell like the dead pine needles at the base of a tree. They smell like freshly dug earth in the morning dew. Were-wolves even smell of fresh meat from a recent hunt. To anyone with an above average sense of smell, Tom smells like grass, trees, berries, and fresh-killed deer.

History:

Tom was born and raised in Freedom City. While he does share his Native American heritage with his parents, there was never really any special parts of his upbringing that were based around his heritage. Only his grandfather on his mothers side really pays much attention to those things, and they don't really talk that much.

Tom was bitten at 20. At the time, he was Psychology at FCU. The exact events of the incident during which he was bitten and his subsequent induction into Freedom City's werewolf pack are a story for another day.

Tom has yet to tell any of his relatives what he has become. For the past two years, he's been having to make excuses for why he has to leave town once a month. When he was in college, it was easier. He would simply go on a "camping trip" with his friends. 2 years later, Tom is a graduate, but still has no steady job. He didn't want to keep lying to his parents, so he moved in with a few of his pack mates. Tom currently shares a house with a few of the lower ranked members of his pack.

Living with his pack has been like living with a fraternity. They have rules, and rewards for service to the pack. The rules are to be followed, no matter what. If you don't follow the rules, you answer to the Alphas. The alphas in Tom's pack rule like a king and queen. Its their way or the highway. You obey the pecking order, or you get out. Its not all bad, though. If you're a good pack member, your packmates will be there to watch out for you. It's almost like having a second family.

Although most of the members of the pack are benevolent at heart, there are a few bad apples here and there. For the most part, it isn't a problem for the alphas to keep the pack in line. The alphas even go so far as to take the pack into the middle of the nearest state forest on full moon nights. This way, the pack can have their way with their surroundings while not being at a great risk to most of Freedom's citizens. The only creatures that they pose a threat to in the forest on these nights are rabbits, deer, and on very rare occasions a camper that is in the wrong place at the wrong time. There have been incidents in the past, but the alphas have managed to keep casualties (and new recruits) to a minimum.

The rules of the Pack:

Provider - You eat what you kill. If you can't hunt for yourself, you're weak.

Food Chain - Obey the pack Alphas, and any member that out ranks you, or challenge them for their rank.

Full Moon - All pack members will attend the pack gathering on the night of the full moon.

The pack is good. The pack is family. The pack is life.

Personality & Motivation:

There was a time when Tom was one of the most driven people he knew. He used to let nothing get in his way when he wanted something. But then he was bitten. Since he joined his pack, he's become more subdued. This is one reason he's remained near the relative bottom of the pack. Thomas isn't the bottom rung on the ladder, but he's close. He's more content to just get along and take orders these days. Life's not so bad when you've got others watching out for you...right?

Tom is a good pack member. Really, he is. He keeps his head down, and his mouth shut when the alphas are talking. He does what he's told, and no one really notices him much. He knows that's what he's supposed to be doing. Now he just needs to get Wolf to listen. Recently, Thomas has been learning more and more that doing things for others makes him feel good about himself. Being a protector sparks something of his more animal instincts. It is a feeling he has come to enjoy. More and more these days he's hearing that other voice inside himself. The voice that says to step up and do things his way. Wolf's voice.

To this day, Tom is somewhat resentful of being bitten. There's plenty of things that you've gotta give up when you become a werewolf, and a fine silver cutlery set is the least of it! It's not so bad once you take into account some of the perks, but its definitely a more complicated life. Though the initial adjustment was hard, and his first change harder, with time he was eventually able to come to grips with it all. Though acceptance does not necessarily mean that he has yet become able to truly control the animal that lies deep inside him...

Powers & Tactics:

Tom is a werewolf. He can change between his human and wolf forms at will, though does not do so lightly. His identity is one of his most closely guarded secrets. As a werewolf, Tom is unable to resist the call of the moon when it is full. Once every month during the full moon, he must eventually, "let the wolf out of its cage." If he tries to deny this urge, it only becomes stronger and stronger, until he finally lets go.

Another part of being a werewolf is the acute allergy to silver. One touch of the metal is enough to burn Tom's skin. Prolonged exposure to his skin can even cause a wound similar to 3rd degree burns. Ingesting any amount of the metal may, in fact, even be fatal. But possibly the worst part about this weakness is that the wounds caused by silver do not heal as quickly as other wounds.

As a werewolf, Tom's powers are linked to the older, more natural world. They come from a time long forgotten and a source unknown. He is also vulnerable to some of the older things in the world. Magical weapons, and those forged of Cold Iron have a more pronounced effect on him than mundane ones.

The disease of Lycanthropy is misunderstood at best. Some of those that are savaged by a Werewolf may never change into one. However, others that receive but a nick have been known to become heavily feverish and experience their first change at the next full moon.

In addition to English and Shawnee, Thomas also speaks the language of the pack. This is a special language spoken by all Lycanthropes. It consists of an instinctual set of gestures understood naturally by all were-animals. With this language, they are able to convey feelings and emotions with even a single touch or look. Truly, "having one's tail between their legs" is not just an expression to Thomas.

Werewolf legends often end with the phrase, "...and then the beast disappeared into the darkness and was never seen again." Much like these myths, Tom has gotten quite good a performing feats of stealth. These abilities are even more pronounced when in his wolf form due to the natural grace with which a wolf moves.

Complications:

Food Chain - Thomas answers to the leaders of the pack.

Full Moon - Every 28 days, Thomas must change to his Wolf form during the Full Moon. This change becomes impossible to resist at about midnight on the night of the Full Moon.

Alchemical Aversion - Thomas will not use any weapons that are magical, or made of cold iron or silver.

Caged Beast - During times of extreme emotional or physical stress, Thomas finds it difficult to remain human rather than slipping into his more instinctual wolf form.

Colorblind - When in Wolf form, Lukos is incapable of discerning between colors much like a normal wolf.

Berserk Fury - When in Wolf Form, it is difficult for Thomas to control his actions. He reacts to all possible threats as a normal wolf would, apprehensively and instinctively.

Just looked at the fluff so far. Overall not bad. I'd like to see something about where he stands int he pack I get the impression that he's not an Alpha but is he close? really low on the totem pole?

Secondly, what is the pack like? Are they generally good people? Do they attack people who stumble upon their full moon revels?

Third and really most importantly, What makes him a Hero? Right now he seems like he's just kinda floating along in a rather meaningless existence following the whims of higher ups in the pack.

I've made the following edits:

After the long language discussion in chat, I cut speak and understand wolves only (comprehend 2) and inserted Super Senses 2 detect mood - lycanthropes only

No net change in costs.

Hide in Plain Sight needs a descriptor for how you do it.

putting how many ranks of Regen are in each category would help as well.

If you could, clarify the descriptors for his powers for nullify/immunities/vulnerabilities. Is it a magic disease? Does it induce some kind of mutation?

I have removed the Full Power drawback from Wolf Form as it does not apply to containers. Instead, I placed Full Power on strike and fearsome presence within the container itself. To compensate for the change in available power points, I have moved Comprehend 2 from outside the container to inside the container.
