The spider falls to bits as Velocity's punch sizzles in. The child cries even louder as a small piece of the spider hits it in the cheek, but it doesn't even look like it broke the skin. No other spider-bots are concentrating on the child, though several seem to be looking over at Velocity.

Nanowire's blow breaks the spider-bot apart. Rather than falling inert, its innards leap out at Nanowire, trying to latch on. One of them finds a data port and jacks in. The voice that spoke earlier in response to the more humanoid nanite swarm is speaking inside his head.

"Pico-band data transfer technology recognized. Unit is not wholly inorganic. This presents a tactical advantage against the Sentinels. Commencing Data transfer...Data transfer complete."

There's a great deal of information flooding Nanowire's mind. Despite his inorganic nature, his mind is still mostly human, and ill-equipped to process all of the data at once. He gets flashes of ideas, but some key points emerge as he tries to cover it all.

OOC: This will probably take more than one round to fully grok. Figure one bullet point automatically per round; three (total) if you spend a move action, five (total) if you spend a standard action, and all of them if you take a full round action.

1) Both the Vanguard and the Sentinels are intelligent non-organic races. The Vanguard naturally evolved on their world, where the basic atom of life was silicon, rather than carbon as on most worlds. The Sentinels were created by organic races after the Vanguard was discovered.

2) The Vanguard eventually achieved interstellar travel capabilities and contacted the greater galaxy. The organic races were threatened by the Vanguard's ability to rapidly adapt to different environments, and declared war on them. The Vanguard was surprised, but adapted to war against the organics as quickly and efficiently as they did other hostile environments, and the tide soon turned against the organic races that had attacked them.

3) The Sentinels were built by the organics as a way to end the war. They are the counterpart to the Vanguard. They were built to preserve organic life and destroy non-Sentinel, non-organic life. They are designed to do whatever is necessary to do so. Take any measure, use any resource.

4) The Sentinels' programming came to a conclusion that is wholly logical. By preventing organic life from developing technology anywhere near the complexity needed to develop artifical life, there is no possibility that they will create allies of the Vanguard. The names of the races that created the Vanguard are lost, but evidence suggests that they have been forcibly returned to a pre-industrial state by their own creations.

5) Both the Vanguard and the Sentinels can merge with others of their type and increase their fighting capability. The Vanguard "leader" is the size of a medium sized planet[Some 312 times Earth's size] and can effectively engage an entire star system in Melee Combat. Combat tactics of the Vanguard include [DATA ENCRYPTED]. By contrast, the Sentinels [DATA ENCRYPTED].

6) Both are from a far-flung region of the galaxy, and these two were caught in a spatial anomaly that left them here. Both the Vanguard and the Sentinels can only travel in super-light speeds along specific corridors in their portion of the galaxy, though they can communicate at super-light speeds over greater distances with the proper equipment. Because of their non-organic nature, both races can draw upon all of the knowledge of their galactic brethren to aid in reproduction strategies.

7) Both could effectively reproduce, using the resources of the entire planet. This has the potential to be a Terminus-level threat.

It's a lot to process, and Nanowire knows he's barely scratched the surface. The last thing is almost a feeling, but Nanowire can tell that the Sentinels will not kill him because he's still partially organic - and that means that he can help the Vanguard more than anyone else besides the other hybrid.

[i never saw the results of my last post/attack. However, I will assume it was effective.]

Mr. Fix-it was still acting on the assumption that the spiders were the "bad guys" in this situation though both creatures seemed completely foreign. Seeing several of the 'spiders' turning their attention toward the hero known as Velocity, Mr. Fix-it launched another attack a the creatures. the blast misses it target, though.

Most of the more humanoid robots have taken up a defensive perimeter around the ship that had crashed. It looks like it is caving in on itself, like a souffle whose air is being let out. From the center of it, a spire is beginning to rise up. Cables extend from it, though it's only about the height that the top of the ship had been before. A few of them are moving through the crowds, ignoring the people for the most part as they engage the spider-bots.

At the same time, the spider-bots are ignoring most of the humans, being content to attack the Prime and Alpha class organics that have been attacking them. Velocity, Valkyrie, and Mr. Fix-It are drawing the most attention. While they don't hesitate to attack the two women with energy blasts, it seems like they are trying to weigh down Mr. Fix-It through grabbing onto him. One of them manages to latch onto him, at least for a time.

Oddly, one or two of the spiders who clamber onto a building damaged by the explosion appear to be repairing it, rather than breaking it down further.

High Note watches for a minute, confused. Just a few seconds ago he had managed to melt one of the spider things, now they're repairing a building. It's not quite something that gels with his initial impressions of the things. Why break things down just to put them back up? Come to think of it, he hadn't seen them break anything with his own eyes, he'd just assumed from the fighting, and cryptic words, that the Vanguard were the bad guys. Now he's not so sure. Taking a chance, he calls out to one of the spiders. "What's going on here? Are you trying to break the buildings or fix them? Who's Close Encounters, and who's Independence Day?"

The spider bot Velocity was facing fired a beam of energy at the yellow clad speedster, but she was able to easily avoid it, preparing to renew her attack.

Rose barely had time to look up from her previous attack before the energy beam hit her, full force. Rose was angry. She wanted these things gone in the worst way. The screaming of the civilians still rang in her ears. It was this anger that fueled her against this attack. With a scream, she shrugged off the effects of the attack. She wasn't going to get anything hurt her - not while there were innocent people in trouble.

The spider that Valkyrie attacked is crushed to half its usual size. When she retracts her fists, the imprints are clear in its exoskeleton. It ceases moving and remains that way on the ground.

One of the spiders near Gordy turns its cephalothorax towards him. No other spider-bots are attacking him for the moment, despite the way that he just melted one of them with his sonic scream.

"No direct machine interfaces. Engaging decelerated data transfer protocols.

...

We are attempting to repair the building. Aid us in battle against the Sentinels," it says.

One of the humanoid robots reaches where the spiders are attempting to repair the building. It doesn't attack them directly, but puts its hands on the surface of the brick. The brick begins to turn into circuitry, and the humanoid robot appears to be growing slightly. At the same time, the building is looking less stable where the conversion is taking place.

"Mass conversion operating at 21% of maximum due to impurities in source material," it says. The spider-bots freeze, climb off the building, and begin heading towards the humanoid bot.

At the same time, many of the spider-bots within the crowd have begun to move toward the defensive perimeter established by the Sentinels. They're working against them even more than they are working against the organics.

Kevin falls to his knees. He can feel something happening to the people around him, though he doesn't know what. It's as much as he can do to try to slow it down, but he knows that if he's slowing it down in others, it's growing inside him unchecked...

The sudden data dump hammering it's way into Nanowire's brain caused him to grind to a halt suddenly, unsure of exactly what to do. The shear amount of information was staggering, even to his advanced intellect. He needed more time to absorb it all. And the first thing he needed to do was get to a safe distance. He blasted off towards the nearest roof and hunkered down next to an air exchange vent.

Sifting through the info was an uphill struggle, to be sure, but he was definitely making progress. A couple things became immediately evident - this was a serious event occurring. No weekend conquers, not these guys. Both factions were well-entrenched and had significant resources to their names. What they were doing here, however, was something of a mystery. An accident, perhaps?

He needed a bit more time to get all of the missing areas of information filled in. The missing pieces of the board were filling in even as he thought about it. It was just a matter of time...

Velocity's attack against the nearest spiderbot leaves it bashed into the ground. While other spiderbots are still moving towards her now that Mr. Fix-It is being occupied, there aren't any very close by. Behind herself, Velocity can hear a groan that makes it sound like the mother is beginning to wake up.

One of the humanoid robots begins to run after Nanowire as he blasts off. When it reaches the place that he took off, it stands there for a moment, and Nanowire can see it changing itself somehow. It lifts perhaps an inch off the ground when its changes are complete.

Having managed to buy some time, Velocity turned around and scooped up the infant, and then moved to help the mother back on her feet. If she could get the woman up, the young speedster was going to help them move away from the fighting to safety.
