Gaea Posted December 23, 2007 Author Posted December 23, 2007 Quick and quiet as a cat Cheshire disappears from the roof she was standing and reappears instantly on the roof of the credit union, crouched low to avoid being spotted. She immediately finds something to hind next to, then looks for a way down into the building. The credit union roof feels a little less than solid at the moment, but you are mostly confident that it will support your weight. Where the ship has crashed into the building there is enough structural damage that you could climb down (if you dare). You can also see, more or less, into the dust-attacked lobby. She was quickly back on shore, slowing a bit as she zipped through the streets, dodging cars and running along the sides of buses before she came to the traffic jam that formed around where the flying saucer was. Skidding to a halt just at the police lines, she looked over at the sight, not exactly sure what she could do. One of the Police officers waves her over. "Velocity, Isn't it? Maybe you can help me. That man over there" He points at a civilian holding a camera. "Caught some footage of the crash. There seems to be some sort of Event at the very beginning of the tape, but we can't figure it out. It happens too quickly. Perhaps you could take a look?" After looking at the tape... Velocity didn't quite understand what she was seeing. There was a whirling twisting mess of images, all happening too quickly for any normal eye to follow. Even more quickly then her eyes could completely descern. She was of course limited by the number of frames per second that the camera took. What she saw: Two Meteors? Comets? had been crashing towards the ground when one of them swallowed the other one. Then the saucer appeared in between frames, where the meteors had been previously. Seeming to level out for a few seconds, the saucer had ossilated madly for a 1/10 of a second, and then had been unable to maintain powered flight. That's when it crashed. From a high altitude, Mr. Fix-it to scan the area for what was causing the alert. The crashed saucer looked a little out of place even for Freedom City. Mr. Fix-it uploaded the image of the saucer into his memory and noted the dimensions and makeup of the craft. He then attempted to “communicate†with any devices within the ship. If initiating communication was like knocking on a door and then being invited in, Mr. Fix-It has just had the porch light shut off in his face. He hadn't precisely been ignored. He had been "booted" out. But not forcefully. Just dismissivly. He thought. It was hard to tell. The experience was a little esoteric. But his eyes picked up something, and he instictivly switched over to the infrared. The craft was radiating almost no heat what-so-ever. It appeared to be constructed of a uniform material throughout, solid, one mass. Room temperature too, which considering it's descent through the atmosphere was a little unusual. On closer inspection, there was actually a second defined mass in the center of the saucer. It was radiating massive heat-levels, and spinning wildly, as what appeared to be amorphous tendrils undulated in an out of it's core wildly. A power source perhaps? "What's going on? Aside from a ship just crashed into what looks like a bank." "No one will tell us anything. Those Cops don't know nothing. Look at 'um Squirm." Said one man. "It's Judgment day." "It's the terminus invasion all over again."Opinion after opinion ring out from all around you. Tensions are running really high.

Heridfel Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 Kevin was downtown for a little after-Christmas shopping when all of the TVs in the department store window changed to a newscast. The reporter was saying something about "alien craft crashlanding near the park". Kevin thinks for a moment before tucking his hands into his coat and starting to walk that direction. Even though he can't really do anything there, he could at least see what was going on and maybe get some cell phone camera shots to show his parents and sisters the heroes of Freedom City.

Companyman Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 Mr. Fix-it was a little disturbed by the abrupt rebuttal he received from the craft. “Hmm… That was rude.†Seeing the police line and the arrival of a hero, Mr. Fix-it descends to street level. The silver skinned hero stopped the street sign he was using as a surf board about 20 feet off the ground. He then took a knee on the piece of metal and called out to the other hero. “What is happening? Where did this craft come from?â€Â

Cyrith Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 "No one will tell us anything. Those Cops don't know nothing. Look at 'um Squirm." Said one man. "It's Judgment day." "It's the terminus invasion all over again."Opinion after opinion ring out from all around you. Tensions are running really high. Gordy sense the crowd is starting to become just a little ugly. And the mention of Terminus doesn't do anything to help that situation. It seems that everyone has an opinion, and they each seem to be more doomsdayish then the last. Getting on his tip-toes, Gordy tries to look around for a hero who can help ease the tensions. Hmm, the guy on the street sign was unfamiliar to him, and that girl he had met at the Christmas party, Velocity if he recalls correctly, seems to be busy with looking over the crash replay. Not that he could really contact her. Ah well, it's his fault for not putting on his costume before leaving the house to investigate a crash landing. And it's further his fault for having not done laundry, so it's not like it was clean anyway. Well, maybe he could talk people down from their paranoia. He speaks up just a little, hoping to be heard. "People, please. I'm sure the police know what they're doing, it's Freedom City, they have to deal with this stuff all the time. And it can't be the terminus, because......Uh....it's....silver?

cosmicarus Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 Rose is at home when she hears the news, helping her sister unpack the groceries. She's being told that her armoured appearance is unsettling, even though she's told her sister many times that she has no idea how to changer her form. It's a discussion they've had before, and one they're likely to have again - just a representation of deeper uncertainty under the surface. The radio report changes the mood in the room very quickly. Rose puts her bag down and looks at her sister, nods once, and then take off through the room - permeating through the physical structure. She races through the sky as fast as she can go. It doesn't take an eagle eye to see where the craft has landed. Rose looks over the destruction for a moment. She sees plenty on the street, and heads down to the ship itself - chances are, if someone is hurt they're under that thing. Or could be even whatever is inside needs help... Valkyrie reaches the ship and begins seaching through the rubble immediately around it, looking for survivors to take to the street.

Heridfel Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 "Kid, it's ok. Looks like we got at least three heroes showing up, though nobody from the Freedom League yet," Kevin says to the teenager who's trying to reassure the crowd... or maybe trying to reassure himself. He glances over to the craft, which still isn't moving. "Heck, they probably just need help. Nobody'd crash in the middle of a city if they couldn't avoid it. More stuff to hit there." His words come off as a bit more well-reasoned than Gordy's stab at things. Despite his relatively calm words, Kevin is fairly excited himself. He's never seen an alien in person, and there's a pretty good chance it could happen here. He also leans his neck back, trying to see if he recognizes any of the heroes showing up. That they are heroes is obvious - spandex, metal skin, and plate armor are not exactly standard issue.

The frames per second were not that good, so a lot was lost, but it looks like this thing somehow ‘swallowed’ the other object and then its flight pattern got messed up and it crashed.â€Â
