Geez3r
Part 1.1 of the Grue Invasion starring: Dr. Archeville Ace Danger Quark Gossamer Give me a post of you getting picked up by the agents. They are highly official like, very cloak and dagger, and quite insistent you come with them, now. Link to comment
Geez3r
If I moved it too far too fast for your liking, I can wind the clock back a bit to allow more discussion on the roof. Link to comment
angrydurf
sense Motive (1d20+17=37) Checking to see if the Agents are reacting to my jibes appropriately. Link to comment
angrydurf
Well I guess more getting a feel of their mood. Are they just glad we're here, resentful and don't think they really need our help, clueless and impassive, etc. Link to comment
Geez3r
Ah. Right now, they're nervous. Too call in aid from the general public (even super heroes) means that's something's up. Something big. And as far as you can tell, that really is the Director, who seems a bit on edge himself. Link to comment
Heritage
Wow it's hard writing for folks smarter than you are! Let me know if any of that reasoning seems far-fetched, Geez. Link to comment
Heritage
Should I have Gossamer make any kind of 'brainy gal' rolls before I have her look at the monitors? Link to comment
Geez3r
Most Knowledge and/or Computer skills will be useful in helping to interpret the results. Pick your poison, but it isn't truly necessary yet. Roll, don't roll, it's your call. Link to comment
Heritage
I'm gonna go with her strongest skill. Knowledge (Physical Sciences) check: 1d20+12=31 Nice, but does it get her anything useful? Link to comment
Geez3r
Well for the psionic readings you can tell that it isn't just pyschic "noise". There is a pattern that is being repeated over and over again, like a command. Also, you note that the beasts are attacking all the hard infrastructure of the city. Making it harder for transportation in or out. Link to comment
Dr Archeville
Ah, yeah, I've got Doc actually fiddling with their tech, too (and running some of it through his own sensors, so he can get the skill bonus from his Gadget), so what does 43 on Computers 40 on Knowledge/Life Sciences 40 on Knowledge/Physical Sciences (Skill Mastery, Taking 10 on those three, using full Enhanced Int and Enhanced Skills via Gadget) and Knowledge/Behavioral Sciences (1d20+25=38) reveal? Link to comment
Geez3r
The critters are intelligent. They are attacking anything that is structurally significant. It's not a simple rampage, it's sabetage. It's definately coordinated. Also, from what you've seen, everything is humanoid. Even the rhino kaiju has its joints the wrong way, as if it were a human on all 4's. Possibly mutation of a base human form. Link to comment
Dr Archeville
Sand, show of Quark's freakish brain! Link to comment
Geez3r
We can skip ahead a bit here. You guys go back and forth with various theories and then Atlas makes his announcement. Your reactions please. Link to comment
Dr Archeville
(15:13:02) Dr_Archeville: (whispers to Geez3r) would it be safe to assume that, when the power goes out around the city after Atlas' broadcast, the AEGIS HQ's backup generators kick in a few seconds later? (15:13:44) Geez3r: (whispers) Nope. They weren't on the city grid to begin with. lights don't even flicker. Link to comment
Heritage
Would it be okay if Gossamer wanted to go to another thread? Link to comment
Dr Archeville
Doc might have plans for her... Link to comment
Geez3r
Well we're pretty much got 2 options at this point. You guys could go off and join the other threads, or you can deal with what I was about to reveal; there are Grue sleeper agents in AEGIS. I don't want to constrain you any, so go with whatever you'd think be more fun. If you decide to leave, I'll handwave that plot point away. Link to comment

Yeah, your reveal should keep her occupied ;) Link to comment
Dr Archeville
Since you haven't done a Reputation thread for Gossamer, I have to ask here: how difficult would it be for someone (like Doc) to know that her accident/powers come from her work with Grue biomatter? Link to comment

Gossamer's origin is the subject of an ongoing lawsuit and is thus not public knowledge and her findings have all been seized as evidence (this is her father's company attempting to cover its collective ass). A very skilled researcher with legal knowledge (or perhaps a German super-genius) could look it up, but that would probably be a DC 30 check. Estelle herself was lied to by her own brother who claimed the materials were synthetic analogs. Link to comment
Dr Archeville
30, eh? Doc can Take 10 on any Knowledge and get that, when using all his resources and braininess (but he actually has ranks in Knowledge/Civics, so he can hit 35 by Taking 10). And since Goss'd mentioned she's "legally not allowed to divulge" why she has an interest in the Grue last August, he'd have sufficient (for him) reason to investigate. Link to comment
