Moira Morley Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 Power Level: 10 (152/155PP) Trade-Offs: None Unspent PP: 3 Platinum Status: 5/60 In Brief: Undead carrier of the Spirit of Justice. Alternate Identities: Samantha Stone Identity: Public Birthplace: Iraq Occupation: None Affiliations: None Family: Adam Stone (father), Aisha Stone (mother) Age: 21 (DoB: January, 1989) Apparent Age: early twenties Gender: Female Ethnicity: Black/Arabian Height: 5'0" Weight: 100 lbs. Eyes: Black Hair: Black Description: She is a striking exotic blend of her mother and father's heritage, blend together into what some would call "ambiguously brown". Her toned and athletic frame is one that befits her gymnastic background. Her long hair, which resembles her mother's, is often worn loose. Her eerie, entirely black eyes are devoid of iris or pupil; this is a mark of death. Her clothing style is normal everyday clothes. Even though she doesn't have a secret identity, she does wear a costume. It takes the form of an unadorned, sleek black latex one piece dress with a short skirt and no sleeves, matching fingerless gloves and pair of cowboy boots. She has a dark red version of the dress. Power Descriptions: The Sword of Justice is a large executioner's sword. It takes two hands to wield it. While the sword itself is not magical, the spirit of Justice will let no permanent harm come to people that do not deserve it. The spirit of Justice makes the swords bite blunted on all but the most vile of villains. While not readily noticeable, after a few shots it's apparent that she's very hard to kill. Her undead fortitude will keep her going for a very long time. History: Samantha Stone was born of an American soldier father and an Iraqi civilian mother. She grew up a military brat as her father was a lifer. She saw many parts of the world and enjoyed doing so. First and foremost among her interests was gymnastics. She trained every bit she could to become the best she could be. Though the real defining characteristic of her was the bets and risks she would take; she could dish them out as well as she could take them. It was a dare that would lead her and some of her friends to their deaths. They were in a dangerous area and she was not supposed to walk off the base into the civilian area. This upset her as she took pictures of everywhere she went. And then one of her friends had to open their mouths and dare her to do it. This could not stand. She gathered a small group and in secrecy they snuck out. They stuck out like sore thumbs in that city. It felt eerie to her, but she at least had her friends and her pictures. That would all change about an hour later. She and the group were kidnapped by extremists. Blindfolding and gagging the group, they took her, her friends and her camera to an empty building. Luckily (or maybe not) she spoke their language. One of the extremists linked her camera to some equipment. They were going to do a live feed to the base. At first she thought they were going to ransom them, but then she heard the horrifying truth. They were about to die. She and her friends would serve as a warning. One by one the extremists unblindfolded and ungagged each of the group and delivered a scathing remark before removing their heads. She heard their screams. It haunted her until they dragged her kicking and screaming to the chopping block. She uttered a prayer for the dead and then herself on the inside. The last words she heard in her life was "For Justice!". Though it didn't sound like one of the extremists. Something filled her body. She could feel it. It was assurance that everything wrong would be righted. She felt her head reattach to her body like it had never left. She instinctively grabbed the extremist's sword. With fervor she dispatched all of them with the sword. Even though they were shooting at her she couldn't feel anything. She kept going until all of them were down. Still running on instinct she took the camera and ran back to the base. She told her father everything that happened, giving him the camera to show him the horrible truth. Her father took her and the camera to his higher ups. They tested her and found out that she was not making this up and she was really dead. This complicated things.Technically she was dead and was no longer a citizen of the United states. They made a deal with her and her father. They would settle down in Freedom City. He would live a normal life of pushing paper. She on the other hand would be watched closely. Thus began the unlife of Justice. Personality & Motivation: She is a very sociable person, a notorious risk-taker, and even a bit sly. The Spirit of Justice has given her a new lease on life. She cannot stand any type of injustice and will see that any wrongs are righted. Thus is her motivation: Justice. Powers & Tactics: She will go into the fray with gusto and flourish, using her acrobatics to confuse her enemy and her sword to subdue them. She is not afraid as she knows that with Justice on her side, she will not fail. Also that she cannot die lest there be no Justice in the world. Complications Justice (It is her driving force) Strong Emotions (being 'not alive' she has a stronger grip on what living people take for granted. She burns with emotion that, at times, seems unbridled.) Legal Status: Unknown (She technically is legally dead. This puts her in some predicaments. Not really a citizen of any country, the United States goverment will occasionally make use of her services in exchange for overlooking her legal status.) Struggling (She can't legally work. So she has to do extracurricular jobs for money at best, or bum money off of her family at worst.) Ecalsneerg Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 Height: 5'0" Weight: 100 lbs. Even for that height, that seems really low for someone with Strength 20. Wouldn't she have a decent chunk of muscle mass? Description: She is a striking exotic blend of her mother and father's heritage, blend together into what some would call "ambiguously brown". Having no secret identity, she does not bother with a costume. Yes, but Ace Danger has his tuxedo, or his Indiana Jones get-up. Dok has his labcoat. Is there a reason she doesn't wear a costume? Power Descriptions: The Sword of Justice is a large executioner's sword made of pure silver and has a hilt made of ivory. It takes two hands to wield it. Ecalsneerg Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Ok, if the sword is completely mundane, how is she: a) parrying bullets using Shield? doing non-lethal damage?
Moira Morley Posted October 5, 2010 Author Posted October 5, 2010 a) it's not parrying, it's using the weight of the sword to dodge. in this setting everything is non-lethal unless you say it's lethal.
Ecalsneerg Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 a) it's not parrying, it's using the weight of the sword to dodge. Which I would have known had you put that down somewhere. I even asked earlier on if it was parrying, to which I got no reply. in this setting everything is non-lethal unless you say it's lethal. No dice. Colt explicitly uses rubber bullets, Arrowhawk explicitly uses blunthead arrows. Just because we make people use non-lethal damage doesn't mean there doesn't need to be even an attempt to handwave it.
Moira Morley Posted October 6, 2010 Author Posted October 6, 2010 Alright, I edited it. gave description to the powers on the sword. Put justification of the non-lethalness in the Power Description section.
Avenger Assembled Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 Wouldn't a mundane sword made of pure silver be really crummy and not able to cut anything?
Moira Morley Posted October 8, 2010 Author Posted October 8, 2010 Wouldn't a mundane sword made of pure silver be really crummy and not able to cut anything?I thought they made sword out of silver in real life (I cut the part about it being silver and ivory)Also' date=' 152 pp, waaah?[/quote']Seraph is NPC'd. 2 points for the NPCs I made before
Dr Archeville Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 I thought they made sword out of silver in real life (I cut the part about it being silver and ivory) Silver's a relatively soft metal (like gold), and so makes for lousy edged weapons. Even "real silver" silverware isn't made from silver, it's either made from an alloy (typically silver/copper) or is just silver-plated. And since silver's about 20% denser/heavier than most steels, and a sword would require a lot of silver (an expensive metal -- 3 pounds would run over $850 in today's market), a sword would never be made from pure silver, it'd be silver-plated.
