Guest Burlap Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Character Name: The Atomic-Powered Man Power Level: 10 (150/150) Trade-Offs: -3 attack/ +3 damage Unspent PP: 0 Gold Status: 0/30 In Brief: A man who sacrificed his life to save the lives of thousands, brought back as an nuclear fusion powered man by an alien spirit. Alternate Identities: None, formerly Lewis S. Sherwood Identity: Secret Birthplace: Newark, New Jersey Occupation: Former nuclear power plant worker Affiliations: None Family: None Age: April 26, 1986 Apparent Age: 24 Gender: Male Ethnicity: Caucasian Height: 6'01" Weight: 210lb Eyes: Mahogany Brown/ Plutonium Orange (Look here for an example) Hair: Auburn Description: The Atomic Powered Man is very well toned, calling to mind the physique of an active firefighter or ultimate fighter. His face is statuesque, with high cheekbones and a chiseled jaw, which is framed by neatly cut auburn hair with long bangs. He has no costume yet, but wears the tattered remains of a radiation suit and what he was wearing underneath -- a pair of worn jeans and polo shirt. History: Lewis Sherwood was always a decent man. He never did anything particularly spectacular, mind you. He stood up to bullies a few times and chipped a tooth more than once for his trouble, and was always polite, but he wasn't outstanding. Just an overall decent person. So no one paid him much mind all his life except his friends and family, whom he slowly drifted away from as he moved on from Newark to a nearby town that had a rather booming job market for those willing to work with the local power plant. Problem was, the owners of the plant weren't particularly interested in safety as they were in maximizing on profits, so Lewis was doomed the moment he applied for a job there. For a year, nothing went wrong. Lewis was fresh out of college and making good money operating as an employee for the plant. He was living a good life, with a small house to his own and he was romancing a young woman who found him quite loveable. This being a superhero origin story, you can probably see where this is going. One day, the reactor was just pushed a little too far, and suffered a melt down. Lewis, being the sort of man he was, ditched all regard for his own safety and focused on helping his fellow workers from within the plant evacuate. He was successful, too, getting every man and woman in the area out to safety with the help of fellow evacuators. But it was too late for him -- Lewis had spent far too much time close to the reactor, and was bombarded with a lethal amount of radiation as it melted down. It was at that moment, Lewis Sherwood died. But fate had shown upon him that day, for an energy-based alien who had been observing the town and the plant for some time, Ob'insk, saw this act of heroism and decided to favour the fallen hero. Fusing with the man, he revived Lewis Sherwood. But the radiation spilling out from the meltdown would surely destroy all life in the area, so Ob'insk took a drastic chance and absorbed all the harmful radiation in the area into Lewis' body, forever changing him. His memories, and Ob'insk's as well, were wiped clean in the act, their minds fusing together. But they did not die. Instead, they were reborn as the Atomic Powered Man. In the confusion, no one noticed the man who was once Lewis Sherwood stagger away from the site and into the wilderness, and he was accepted as the only casualty of the accident. But no one focused on that. Scientists were too baffled by the fact that there was no trace radiation left at all within the area, despite the severity of the incident. The fact that only one person died didn't stop Sherwood's former employers from being prosecuted, however, and the plant was closed down forever. The Former Lewish Sherwood wandered not far, ending up in Freedom City through simple luck, with no idea of his own identity or the vast powers he now possessed. It could be said it is time for him to find out. Personality & Motivation: Despite losing his memories, the Atomic Powered Man still has the hero's heart the man he once was possessed. This pushes him to do good for others, even if it is at detriment to himself. However, he is currently without a memory and as such can be misguided in what is good and bad when it is not immediately obvious. Powers & Tactics: The Atomic Powered Man is not a fighter. He is not trained in anything, nor does he know how to fight beyond wailing on things with his fists. Which, thanks to his powers, works just fine for him. He relies mostly on his powers since he doesn't know how to do anything else, but he will use some tactic -- He will use his X-ray vision to scout out walls and use a notice check to see if any of his opponents are skulking in the shadows. Complications: Retrograde Amnesia: The Atomic Powered Man has no recollection of his former life as either Ob'insk or Lewis Sherwood. He has managed to retain basic information (what the sun is, how to walk, how to speak), but does not know what year it is, what country he is in, or what his name is, or more specialised information such as how to operate things within the power plant he worked in or even how to drive a car. He will never get these memories back unless he relearns them. Geez3r Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Powers cost 67pp. Quickness costs 1pp per rank, and Quickness 2 allows you to perform actions at 5x normal speed.
Guest Burlap Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Okay, I think I fixed it all up. I had a few extra points so I bought some feats -- I hope the improved critical isn't too high.
Geez3r Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 It is. See the House Rules thread, which is an announcement in every board. Improved Critical is limited to 2 ranks for a single attack. It's also an odd pick for someone you claim isn't a fighter. In addition, you've spent 8 points in saves, not 10.
Guest Burlap Posted October 8, 2010 Posted October 8, 2010 Okay, this is hopefully the final edit. I've kept improved critical on the reasoning that he's hitting hard enough that it could reasonably do some extra damage in cases where it wouldn't for normal people, but I removed a point and gave him instant up on the reasoning that he's pretty much always moving.
Geez3r Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 You have to spend all 150 power points at character creation. Also, you've got 11 points in feats, not 10.
Guest Burlap Posted October 15, 2010 Posted October 15, 2010 Done what you've asked and added up all the points. 150 pp spent.
