Aoiroo Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 July 25, 1:23am They said he looked peaceful, that he was no longer in pain and that he was simply sleeping. It was true, he did look like he was sleeping, but he did not really look peaceful, it seemed more like he looked dead. Given, he looked far better then herself. Etain did not dare glance into a mirror because she knew how horrible she seemed. Her clothing had not been changed, her hair tied away as to leave room, and her face streaked and red. She could only imagine what would happen if anyone back home were to see her. But she wasn't home, she was in this awful, awful place filled with poisonious metals, looking over the boy who just days earlier seemed to hold such life and excitement as he spoke of the people he called heroes. But where were they? Where was the family he so fondly recounted? Where were the friends he missed so dearly and wanted to see? It seemed so pointless because they were nowhere to be fond even when she could give his name to them. Holding one hand to her face she looked at his again, she looked at his again. He was alive, but he was not living, so why was she still here? Her body ached as she stood for the first time since they brought her to this room. It was probably a few hours now, it was hard to tell because time seemed so fickle. Still she stretched her feet out and moved her hands closing her eyes quietly for a few seconds, however when she opened then again she was startled beyond words at what had joined her in the quiet hospital room.
alderwitch Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Phantom floated in her cloak, intangible and ghostly, with its billowing folds flowing over the floor and writhing as she watched the man sleep and his guest. She was even more still than the man in a coma as his chest still rose and fell. Hers did not. She didn't breathe or move restlessly as humans were wont to do. She floated still and silent, patiently waiting for the woman to open her eyes. "So," Phantom intoned, her voice an oddly hollow echo. She spoke as if this was a continuation of a conversation rather than the start of one. "Have you chosen?"
Aoiroo Posted October 28, 2010 Author Posted October 28, 2010 The shock wore down with the voice of the woman in front of her. Though the aura was starked with the powers of a goddess, gods didn't not directly interfer with mortals unless summoned. It only took a few seconds of observation to determine which one had empowered this human, "" Though in the back of her mind there was a voice nagging for a tone of respect against the more powerful enity, her voice lacked sweetness nor the usual calm she carried as the stress and fatigue had worn her nerves and sharpened her tongue more.
alderwitch Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Phantom bobbed in the air, finally shifting as if in impatience. "Which world, little faeling. Have you chosen one? You are mortal born but the magic of faerie runs through your very being. So, have you claimed a home or are you still in flux?" Phantom was indeed impatient. Not only was she ever more busy these days, but her family worked in the hospital and it would have been awkward indeed to run into one of them while on the job so to speak. Nothing undermined an inter-dimensional guardian like a good 'where have you been?' scold.
Aoiroo Posted October 28, 2010 Author Posted October 28, 2010 She didn't understand the first part, in fact she hardly acknowledged it, her face was sulken. She didn't feel like looking at her more then she had too, usually she could stand the sites but the power of this person was giving her a head ache to glance at. "" She sat down again and held her face, "" He was here because of her, she brought him back at the wrong time and she couldn't protect him even when she had made him her responsibility.
alderwitch Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 Phantom made a tsking noise that sounded decidedly strange with the odd echo of her hollow voice. "Of course you have a choice. You are limited, like most, only by the boundaries of your ability to think. If you are here to stay, then you will have to find something more to do than watch over this boy's bedside. If nothing else, you could investigate what you could do to alter his condition. Ending it would be... inadvisable. But there are options. You simply have to see them."
Aoiroo Posted October 29, 2010 Author Posted October 29, 2010 She looked up at the woman as she advised 'ending his condition' while wiping a hand at her eye to take away tears that had once again started to fall, "" Glancing at Demitrius reached to the side of the bed and grabbed a tissue to hold to her running nose, " The question really wasn't directed at someone as it was her thinking out loud.
alderwitch Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 "Where were folks like me when your friends stole him in the first place? No doubt busy with the other like minded individuals who decided that tampering with forces they did not understand was worth it for a moment's passing fancy." Phantom responded, her tone dry and unimpressed at the line of questioning. "There is but one of me and, hmm, how many mortals do you think were taken in the same year? In the same month? Not to mention the number of people crossing back and then all of the other realms of the multiverse. No matter the power I wield, I am ONE being and the transgressors are legion."
Aoiroo Posted November 1, 2010 Author Posted November 1, 2010 Etain did not meet her eye as she continued her tone tired but unintimidated, " Looking at the floor quietly she turned her head to look at the woman again, it was distracting but she was actually curious about what this woman looked like.
alderwitch Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 "I... remain uncertain. Many reasons. The amulet laid waiting for centuries on centuries but that's a symptom of patience, rather than timing," Phantom's cloak rippled as the figure below shrugged. She moved forward, the cloak parting to reveal shadows and a human enough looking body under it before it closed again once she stopped floating forward. "Right person. Right time. Right place. The need became too great to wait much longer. I am Her Chosen, but her motives are often cloaked in darkness, even to me."
Aoiroo Posted November 5, 2010 Author Posted November 5, 2010 She glanced at the woman coming out of the cloak, she probably wasn't much taller then herself, probably not very intimidating without it either. But she was powerful, even now while she was 'uncertian'. "" She glanced over at Demitrius and let out a sigh, ""
