Fox Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 Dragonfly tilted her head, scanning her shelves as she paused her work. "Mm. Good idea. Good luck explaining....should have them around here somewhere. Recovered but they were never used, nonlethal, should have...ah." She gestured with one hand toward one of the shelves on the wall, which stocked surprisingly organized and clutter-less silver and black cases. "Small black plastic case, second shelf, by the end. Tracker and beacons. Old but durable...should work. Don't...don't touch the other cases." She paused, before adding an uncharacteristic, "...please."
Carces Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 "I'm... uh... sure we can figure something out. With the kid. And whatever. He's probably a pretty cool guy." Creature Feature scanned for the black box on the shelf amongst the treasure trove of technological odds and ends, stacked neatly (or occasionally not-so-neatly) in some sort of odd order. None of the boxes had labels, from what CF could see, which made him wonder about how the lady knew where everything was. He reached out for the box before stopping himself. Between the stairs and the computer, Vance had enough embarrassing, clumsy moments to fill anyone's dumb moment quota for the day. Deciding against trying for the hat trick, he instead pointed at the box for Silhouette to see.
Aoiroo Posted December 4, 2010 Author Posted December 4, 2010 She silently snickering at Vance's demeanor whenever his secret idenity came up, but her mask didn't betray these expressions as she walked past him and grabbed the box. Putting it on the table she undid the hatches and flipped it open to see several mini tracers as well as some larger trackers about the size of buttons and a couple of some radio like things with screens that probably could be tuned to the trackers. She picked a few up and looked to see numbers ingrained that probably indicated frequencies that it tracked. It was definitely some old school tech but that meant it was much less likely to get interferance. "Right, these will do nicely. So, it seems we've covered all the bases, I'll be by to pick up the watch tommorrow if that's okay."
Fox Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Dragonfly's mouth twitched at the corner in something like satisfaction or amusement, as she held up a little piece of steel that looked an awful lot like a watch face...with a really big cutout for a screen. "Can give it to you before you leave, if you give me a minute to attach this. Also, need to pick a movie clip. Have to burn it to the chip here...not very flexible. Serviceable, can make a better version with more time...mm. Interesting challenge. Card slots a relatively bulky, could maybe cut down on it with...nevermind. Had a movie in mind?"
Carces Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 "A movie?" Creature Feature considered the disembodied voice's question carefully. It'd be great to have a choice in monsters from a clip. Hrrm... but all the small monsters that meet up are from TV specials and stuff. They look and act too lame for this sorta work. The giant, stomping monster meet-ups are great, but then I'd always be the size of a building... Gotta stick with the basics. That's what Silhouette would say! I hope... After the brief moment of thinking, Vance nodded to himself and spoke up again towards the monitor. "We have the wolf-guy movie still here, right? A quick scene from that'd be fine." Vance smiled as he made his decision. His smile soon faded as the rest of the scientist's discussion sunk in. "W-wait, 'attach?' Like, attach to what? I have really sensitive skin which reacts terribly to... uh... 'installments.'" Feeling the panic return, Creature Feature turned back to Silhoutte. "The scientist person does know I'm not a robot, despite the tiny machine-things, right?"
Aoiroo Posted December 6, 2010 Author Posted December 6, 2010 She smiled at his decision as well as indecision with Dragonfly, "She means to the watch, not you. Anyway, you could be considered a little bit of a robot, you're blood stream is swimming with nanobots. By the way, you might want to avoid giving out blood donations from now. The red cross checks for everything." They certianly were very thorough with questioning, she understood stuff like out of the country travels or recent vaccines, but pocession and close proximity to mad scientists was another. One of the reasons she doesn't give blood.
Fox Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Shaking her head, Dragonfly pulled her mind away from the computer and its speakers. jumpy - technologically ill-equipped - strange The screen behind her rapidly flicked through Wolfguy scenes, finally settling on one where the titular creature was front and center - she'd already attached wires and fiddly-bits to the bare face of the watch, so all she had to do was wait for the computer to finish compressing and uploading the clip. She spent that time trying to figure out where the watch band she'd picked out had disappeared to in her pile of workbench junk and leftover watch parts. "Could attach it to him," she commented aloud, largely to herself. "Not difficult. Impractical. Internal device would be better off in the skull, with leads and a retinal projector in one eye. Mmm...need to review eye structure again. Interesting engineering challenge...shame. Don't think I own a proper skull drill anyway."
Carces Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Creature Feature made a disturbed face at Dragonfly's overheard thoughts. This particular skewed werewolf face was, in a rather predictable happenstance, itself rather disturbing to look at, as the odd amalgamation of a canine muzzle and a human expression attempted to present itself to the world with no small amount of difficulty. He leaned in close and whispered gruffly to Silhouette, "Maybe I should avoid an upgrade. Y'know... j-just to be on the safe side." Turning back towards the computer, Vance looked at the information at the computer. With a moment's hesitation, the werewolf carefully rose and leaned over the slightly-too-short railing in order to address the relatively small and as-of-recently intimidating figure of his disturbingly-accommodating host. "U-uh... does the computer have a... a printer or somethin' like that to get the info and stuff out? Uh... preferably without skull-surgery required or eye lasers or anythin'."
Fox Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Other than a tiny exclaimation of victory as she found the heavy-duty wrist strap she'd been looking for, Dragonfly didn't reply as such - but little lights danced behind her visor (which she'd recovered and put back on while the others were upstairs), and from somewhere on the ground floor near the main screen a printer could be heard churning out the web page, a schedule of events, and a small map of that area of the city. She did snort a little as she attached the completed watch to its straps. "Eye lasers. Would not help you print. 'Laser printer' is misleading - laser never touches paper. Highly unlikely for the human eye to maintain focus and precision necessary to charge negative image in a rotating drum. Would practically have to replace the whole head - brain modification...mm. Outside my fields. Poor laser vision, anyway. Wouldn't punch through metal. Where's the fun?"
Aoiroo Posted December 9, 2010 Author Posted December 9, 2010 "Be a bit of a waste doing anything like that to him now, moment he changes any and all modifications come with him after all." Walking over to Vance she gave a faint whisper, "Don't think too much of it, she wouldn't actually do anything like that unless you ask." Stretching she headed over and glanced at the watch, "That looks perfect," She turned her head to look at Vance, "You better remember to take this off before you change."
Carces Posted December 11, 2010 Posted December 11, 2010 Vance turned to Silhouette and nodded. Looking over the railing from the makeshift second floor, he peered over at the watch, eager to have a closer look. However, turning towards the spiral staircase, he bit the right side of his top lip as he rubbed the top part of his nose. I really don't need another repeat performance of that fiasco. My stupid-clumsy-moment quota is filled for the day! Gathering all of his focus and grace, Creature Feature flipped over the railing in a stunning display of acrobatics, somersaulting through the air with an ease he had never accomplished until this point. Using every ounce of his training with Silhouette, Creature Feature ended his leap to the ground floor with an absolutely silent landing, his legs spread apart in excellent form while his left hand touched the ground for both balance and as a support for whatever he desired as his next move. Giving a second to let the maneuver sink in, Creature Feature gave a goofy grin as he stood upright, saluting as a gymnastics performer would after an Olympic performance. His grin soon faded into a drooped frown when he noticed the only available audience member on the ground floor was the perpetually-distracted Dragonfly.
Fox Posted December 11, 2010 Posted December 11, 2010 Dragonfly finished attaching the wrist strap with a satisfied noise, picking up the watch and turning around...just in time to see Creature Feature's frown. She glanced at where he was, and then up to the railing, visor calculating the distance. She blinked. "Are you alright? Long fall. First aid kit, if you need it. Look fine, though - no obviously broken bones. Sprain, perhaps...mm. Should be more careful around the railing, maybe." She shook her head, shrugging. "Watch is done, anyway. Loaded with the video...just have to press the button on the side. Silhouette was correct - best to remove it before changing. If you forget, the strap will break free and not hurt your wrist. Battery will only be good for a couple uses, at best...bring it back if you want to change the video or charge it. Might build something better in the meantime. Engineering challenges are very interesting...."
Aoiroo Posted December 11, 2010 Author Posted December 11, 2010 It was a nice leap, but out of common courtesy, Sil took the stairs. Getting downstairs, she looked over, "You don't need to worry about him hurting himself, at least not in that form. Just be glad he didn't land on anything you might of wanted to use later." Walking over she was the first to take the watch, "Looks great, thanks for the help." She turned towards Vance, "We should get going then, things to plan, parents to ask, food to eat." She didn't look at her stomach but she really wanted to get her costume off because she had to be paranoid and make it so she can't just partially remove her mask.
Carces Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Creature Feature gently pinched the watch with two claws, his high spirits returning quickly. It was difficult to stay down in the dumps when you get re-invited back to a super scientist's secret lair! "Thank you, ma'am!" He gazed at the watch with wide-eyed wonder, marveling at every little detail. He soon put started to work a hand through the strap in order to wear the watch properly, but stopped before he could wear the watch completely. He'd still need to take a Vance form today, and it would be rather difficult to remove a watch gently with the clawed hands he was sporting. "Time to go?" Creature Feature said as he spun to look at Silhouette. "Is it that late already?" he wondered aloud, despite having just been handed a brand new high-tech watch.
Fox Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 Dragonfly waved a hand, gathering up some of her tools and putting them back into their spots. "Glad to help. Good cause. Not that complex a piece of work...let me know if you want a better version later. Have some ideas for better power sources...though probably best not to use one that could tear reality if broken. Mmm..." She tapped a finger on a workbench, thinking on that one. "Will work on it. Safe power source that small would be very useful regardless." "Anyway. Good luck. Be careful on your way out. Neighborhood thugs know better than to come near this area, but the rest of Greenbank isn't as safe at night. Best to avoid trouble."
Aoiroo Posted December 13, 2010 Author Posted December 13, 2010 She glanced over catching some of what she was saying, "Yeah, let's avoid tearing reality anymore then it already has been." She motioned Vance to follow as she got to the door and waved behind her, "Thanks for the luck, but I honestly doubt any trouble will be coming our way once they get a good look at Creature. And if they do, well I'm sure we can handle it. He's not too bad in a fight in this form after all, and I've got a plan to help with his default as well."
Carces Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Without wasting much time, Creature Feature cheerfully bounded towards the door, stopping to spin around and energetically wave to Dragonfly before exiting. "Good night! Thank you for all of your help!" Vance barked as he gave a goofy-looking grin. As he went about exiting the wondrous workshop of technological oddities, Creature Feature allowed his mind to wander while he followed behind Silhouette. What a nice... if kinda odd, scientist lady. Biting his lip in realization that he went through the entire encounter without addressing his host properly, Creature Feature made a mental note to ask Silhouette for the scientist's name before returning.
Fox Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Dragonfly shook her head as the door closed, pulling her visor off and setting it carefully on the little shelf under her main computer monitors. "Strange pair," she commented aloud to no one in particular. "Think I like them." She set about cleaning up her work bench, tools going back in their places, parts swept away or shuffled back into place on the shelves, scrap brushed into a trash bin. She knew she really ought to be getting some sleep, but just didn't have it in her...some nights were like that. And the challenge of a wrist-mounted, long-living video player was just fascinating.... She pulled over her whiteboard and started erasing to make room.
