Kavos Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Player Name: Kavos Character Name: Daemon Power Level: 7 (105/110PP) Trade-Offs: None Unspent PP: 5 Progress to Bronze Status: 5/30 In Brief: A Teen Hero who gained paranormal ghost-like powers from a lab accident. Real Identity: Oliver Isles Heroic Identity : Daemon Identity: Secret Birthplace: Freedom City Occupation: Student Affiliations: Claremont Family: Vernon Isles (Father), Julia Isles (Mother) Age: 16 June 7th 1994 Apparent Age: 16 Gender: Male Ethnicity:Caucasian Height: 5’6†Weight: 125 lbs Eyes: Brown (Oliver) – Green (Daemon) Hair: Mousy (Oliver)- White (Daemon) Description: With soft but defined features Oliver would be considered handsome by most. His body is of a slightly athletic build from two years of basic martial arts training. A habit of preferring indoor activities has left Oliver with slightly more pale skin than most American teens his age. A by-product he claims from his families’ European heritage. His short mousy blond hair is always kept clean and brushed. Oliver’s usual clothing is a pair of dark blue jeans, held up with a black double eyelet belt, with an Army green suede jacket; knitted Persian green vest and a black suit tie with a white collared shirt. Oliver wears a pair of black and white High-tops sneakers, with the laces done up horizontally. A small silver chain sits around his neck under his shirt, and a plain polished Onyx ring sits on his left ring finger. Daemon’s usual costume is a construct of Oliver’s mind. It consists of a black and white spandex-like jacket, with a standing collar and silver zipper down the front. A silver metal belt rests over the jacket. Black spandex pants cover his legs going into a pair of black and white boots. A pair of white gloves with black fingertips covers his hands, held secured with a black strap and buckle. As Daemon his hair turns whites and grows a good inch, to Oliver’s annoyance his hair becomes spiked forward and regardless any brushing it always returns to the same look. His eyes also turn a toxic green, that glow whenever he uses his powers. History: The hero who would be called a ghost, a Daemon for the down trodden and helpless, began with the most humble of origins. Oliver Isles was the only son of a university chemistry professor Vernon and professional music teacher Julia Isles. Vernon was born in Norway, migrating to Freedom City when he was twenty-four to study chemistry at the Hanover Institute of Technology. Julia on the other hand was a popular French Canadian singer, until a tour in Freedom City, were she ran into a nerdy university student, Vernon. The pair began a long distance relationship, lasting two years before Vernon proposed to Julia. The couple married in the spring and Julia officially moved to Freedom City. With her extensive singing career and the young couples desire to have a child, Julia decided to retire from the professional music business and found a job as a music teacher at The Freedom School for the Arts. The couple purchased a small two-bedroom apartment in Riverside and fifteen months later Oliver was born. The young hero-to-be led a relatively normal if not adventures life. Once a year they would go on a family holiday to either Canada to visit his mothers’ parents and her siblings, or to Norway to be with his fathers’ parents. On occasion they would even go to France to visit his grandmother, who is a famous French Opera singer. At the age of fourteen Oliver began having troubles with a local school gang, the bullies would bash him for his Jewish heritage. Vernon and Julia petitioned the school to intervene, but the school merely suspended the boys for a week. Outranged at the schools nonchalant attitude to the situation, Vernon signed Oliver up to take martial arts lessons at Master Lee’s school of self-defense in Hanover, several blocks away from were he worked. Friday May 7th 2010, Oliver and his father arrived in the HIT parking lot. Oliver had gotten to go with his father to work that day due to a school report Oliver was doing on the chemistry labs at HIT. Just as the couple entered the chemistry lab, the universities alarms began to ring. As students and teachers began to swarm chaotically and the first of the explosions rang out, Vernon grabbed Oliver and shoved him into a containment chamber. A specially designed room the size of a single person that the university used to test chemicals in. It was airtight but more importantly explosive proof Vernon hoped it would be enough to protect his son. Despite Oliver’s protests Vernon abandoned his son in the relative safety of the containment chamber to join the other teachers in coordinating the universities students. Oliver sank to the floor, knees tucked into his chest as he waited for his fathers return, fear and agitation pumped through his ears as more explosions rang out. As Oliver waited a loud crash sounded in the chemistry lab, getting to his feat, Oliver peeked out of the observation port before quickly slinking back down. A large eight-foot, scaly red skin creature had walked through the wall into the lab. The monster hissed and snarled as it began tossing vials and upturning tables. The creature approached the computer panel that controlled the chambers systems and with mighty roar shattered the panel… sparks flew as the system fragmented, vials of chemicals on the side of the chamber began to empty as the system evaporated them. Oliver sat quietly, tears rolling down his face as his muscles shivered uncontrollably, than a green spray of gas shot up from a single vent, than another, and another… Oliver began to cough as the toxic chemicals filled the small chamber. Trying to get up Oliver started to bang on the door, but to little use, the creature had left the lab and there was nobody else around. His eyes watering from the gas, Oliver collapsed to the floor of the chamber, his lunge burning as the chemicals infected their way into his system. Coughing one last time Oliver’s eyes closed and his world went dark. As the day went on the brave heroes of Freedom City fought valiantly and drove back the alien invaders. Once it was deemed safe emergency crews began to scour the rubble for survivors, it took five hours before the rescue crews got to the chemistry lab and were able to drain the chamber to retrieve the unconscious Oliver. Rushed to the nearest hospital Oliver was placed in critical condition, as the blood tests trickled in the doctors could do nothing but look dumbfounded as they read the complex and highly lethal concoction of chemicals that permeated Oliver’s body. After two weeks in intensive care, Oliver awoke to the surprise of the doctors but elation of his parents. As his mother coddled him, his father explained about the Grue invasion as well as showed off his broken arm, and several nasty cuts he had received when he had gotten in the way of one of the aliens. Several weeks later, Oliver was released from the hospital with a shrug from the doctors and appointments for weekly checkups. Anxious to get on with life Oliver went back to school and recommenced his martial arts lessons. It wasn’t until his first sparing matched did he notice anything different. As the youth sparred with another, he noticed was faster than he had been before, and several times he could have sworn he stayed in the air a fraction of a second too long. The weeks went on, and Oliver found himself running longer, jumping higher, dodging faster than ever before, but it wasn’t until Saturday evening did he know something was different. As he walked home he noticed the same group of bullies that had bashed him up two years ago was following him. Quickly Oliver ducked into an alleyway to avoid them but was knocked to the ground as he ran into other another member of the gang who had been lying in wait. Getting up off the ground as the rest of the gang encircled him, Oliver adapted a defensive stance. The bullies smirked at Oliver’s attempt to intimidate them, one of them moving into position to ‘accept’ his challenge. As the two youths fought, the gang cheered and sneered as Oliver danced around deflecting attack after attack until he saw his opening and struck… The cheering and sneering stopped as Oliver’s opponent looked in shock, Oliver himself stood stunned for several seconds as it registered that his hand was inside his opponent. Quickly pulling his hand back Oliver was relieved it wasn’t coated in blood. His opponent however slumped to the floor, Oliver held his breath until he saw the other youths chest rise and fall. As the rest of the gang came to their senses they swarmed Oliver in a fit of anger and revenge. Oliver flung his arms over his head and crouched down as the mob descended. Oliver waited for the pain but was surprised when he suddenly felt as if he was falling. With a thud and a splash Oliver found himself in the sewer waist deep in water. Looking up Oliver could see no hole in the roof? Did he go through the pavement? Like his hand had against the thug? Running along the side of the sewer until he found an access ladder, Oliver hastily began his ascent. Just as he reached the manhole a faint shiver ran down his spine, looking back down at the dimly lit sewer Oliver saw two glistening reptilian eyes watching him from the water, a large bulky form could just be made out from under the water. Without thinking Oliver surged upwards, suddenly finding himself in the middle of the street, the manhole still in place. His nerves on edge Oliver ran home not stopping along the way. Once he arrived home Oliver locked himself in his room and began experimenting with his newfound power. As time went on, Oliver quickly learnt he could pass through most inorganic matter and with some concentration he could at least place his hand through an apple. He also discovered with some concentration he could project a blast of green ghostly fire at an object. The coolest thing Oliver discovered however was his ability to become near invisible! It wasn’t fool proof, it was only partial invisibility but Oliver was certain that with more training he could eventually master it. It wasn’t long until Oliver began to get ideas in his head, after watching a late night special on the Freedom League Oliver began to wonder if he too could be a hero, he certainly had powers now? That night after his parents had went to bed, Oliver placed on some lose fitting clothing, and grabbed a strip of fabric and cut too eye holes in it. That night Oliver began stalking the streets, keeping himself invisible. He eventually stumbled upon his old school bullies with another group of older boys. As Oliver watched he realized that it was an initiation! His old school yard bullies were being promoted from playground bullies to full-fledged gang members! Watching the initiation Oliver waited and followed as the bullies were given their initiation test. They were to brake into an old warehouse and loot it. Following them, Oliver skulked in the shadows, knowing he was outnumbered for a strait up fight. Occasionally one of the gang members would lag behind so Oliver would quickly jump out of the shadows, sending his palm through their body before vanishing again as they collapsed on the ground unconscious. Finally they arrived at the warehouse, it was only then did the other gang members realize they had lost several of their members. They formed a defensive circle making Oliver’s sneak attacks worthless. Stepping out into the open the gang began to sneer as they saw wannabe hero, Oliver wasted no time and sent a bolt of ghost fire into the closest thug. The Sneering changed to a growl of anger before one of the thugs charged Oliver with a bat, blocking the attack Oliver was stunned with how little the attack actually hurt. Coming to his senses Oliver quickly focused on the battle again, swinging around and counter attacking the baseball bat thug. As the fight went on Oliver disposed of one gang member after another, fighting, hiding, striking, Oliver used all his tactics to win, but it wasn’t enough, more and more thugs appeared as reinforcements arrived. Surrounded and tired Oliver’s chest heaved up and down, unsure as to how much longer he could fight. Than the gang leader appeared… a man in his early twenties, with a balled head and fire tattoo’s marking his scalp. The man sneered and taunted Oliver as fire sparked to life between his hands and ran up his arms. The battle raged on but Oliver was already tired and sore. The gang leader constantly had the upper hand, especially since he had apparently mastered his ranged fire attacks. As Oliver weakened he could hear a faint voice in the back of his mind… ‘Let go… let go… we can defeat him… let go…’ the voice whispered as silently as a ghost. Another flash of fire scored a direct hit into Oliver’s chest knocking Oliver from his feet. Panting Oliver stayed down for a moment, closing his eyes and clearing his mind like his martial arts instructor had taught them to do. Suddenly Oliver felt a surge of power rush through his vanes, his body lifted up off of the ground, ghostly fire consumed his cloths replaced by a web of darkness that solidified into clothing. His eyes changed to a toxic green, his hair turned white. As the gang watched on in trepidation they could easily see the bruises on Olivers face suddenly heal. Once the transformation had finished Oliver hovered in the air, stunned by the change as much as the thugs were. With strength renewed Oliver quickly took the offensive and quickly finished the gang leader off. Seeing their leader fall, the remaining gang members fled. Oliver approached the frightened gang leader, all he could do was murmur a faint “who are you?†To which Oliver replied, “Call me Daemon.†And with that Oliver knocked the thug out and flew off just as the police cars arrived. Several days later, after Oliver had discovered his powers had permanently increased since the transformation and he was able to swap between his normal look and Daemons look at will. One morning as Oliver was getting ready for school, a knock came from the door, answering it, an elderly man stood there with the aid of a cane. “Mr. Oliver Isles I presume? I have a proposition for you, my name is Duncan Summers.†Personality and Motivation: Oliver is a quite compassionate kid with a family passion for music. Despite a promising career as a solo artists Oliver feels his powers are a gift from God, and to use them for his personal gain would be wrong. So Oliver splits his time between school, the recording studio and moonlighting as the hero ghost Daemon. Powers and Tactics: With basic martial arts training augmented with his ghost-like powers Oliver can be a terror on the battlefield against one on one foes. Utilizing his invisibility and acrobatics, Oliver does all he can to keep his opponents flat footed so that he can perform a sneak attack against them. As Oliver’s body absorbs more and more of the toxic chemicals in his blood, his powers and physical ability increases. Some of his powers have been augmented with traces of Der Schattenwelt, allowing Oliver to project a blast of shadowy energy at opponents. The small amount of Der Schattenwelt in Olivers blood, mixed with the chemicals produces a hellish green flame with a core as black a night. Complications: Secret: Oliver hasn’t told anyone about his powers, not even his family. Triple shift: Oliver has a very busy schedule school, music and being a hero. Hunted: The crazed mutated chemist Goanna has Oliver’s scent… could the deadly combination of toxins in Oliver’s blood be a cure to this made scientist? Walking Dead: Oliver’s body absorbed enough deadly toxins to kill an entire room of people with a single drop. Yet he’s still alive, and the Doctors are very curios as to why. Enemies: Oliver’s made an enemy out of a local street gang around Riverside… Hopefully they don’t learn his identity and go after his family. Voices in my head: Oliver sometimes hears a voice in his head, especially right before he has a boost in power… Is it his unconscious mind, or is it something more sinister… Abilities: 0 + 2 + 2 + 0 + 2 + 2 = 8PP Strength: 10 (+0) Dexterity: 12 (+1) Constitution: 12 (+1) Intelligence: 10 (+0) Wisdom: 12 (+1) Charisma: 12 (+1) Combat: 10 + 8 = 18PP Initiative: +1 Attack: +5, Melee +5, Ranged +5, Ghost powers +7 Grapple: +7 Defense: +7 (+4 Base, +3 Dodge Focus), +2 Flat-Footed Knockback: -3 Saving Throws: 4 + 4 + 4 = 12PP Toughness: +7 (+1 Con, +6 [Protection]) Fortitude: +5 (+1 Con, +4) Reflex: +5 (+1 Dex, +4) Will: +5 (+1 Wis, +4) Skills: 64R = 16PP Acrobatics: 12 (+13) Concentration 9 (+10) Diplomacy 9 (+10) Gather Information 5 (+6) Knowledge (popular Culture): 4 (+4) Language 3 (English (native), French, Hebrew, Norwegian) Notice 9 (+10) Perform (Singing) 4 (+5) Profession (singer) 4 (+5) Sense motive 5 (+6) Feats: 11PP Acrobatic Bluff Dodge Focus 3 Elusive Target Evasion 1 Hide in place sight Instant Up Sneak attack 1 Teamwork 2 Powers: 14 + 1 + 3 + 4 + 6 + 3 + 6 + 3 = 40PP Ghost Array 5 (Feats: Alternate Powers 3, Accurate (+2) [14PP] Base Power: Concealment 10 (All Sensors) Flaws: partial) [10PP]Alternate Power: Strike 5 (Extras: Penetrating [10PP] (Phase Touch)Alternate Power: Blast 5 (Range 50ft) [10PP] (Ghost fire) Enhanced Trait 1 (Feat: Quick change (Daemon)) [1pp] Flight 1 (Feats: Subtle (10mph, 88ft/round) [3PP] (Ghost Flight) Immunity 4 (Critical hits (2), Suffocation (all) (2)) [4PP] (Ghostly traits) Protection 6 (+6 Toughness) [6PP] (Ghostly Resilience) Regeneration 3 (Recovery Rate (Bruised) 3 (recover 1/round without rest)) [3PP] (Ghostly Recovery) Super-movement 3 (Permeate 3 (full speed)) [6PP] (Ghost Phasing) Super-Sensors 3 (Low-light vision, Ultra hearing, Uncanny dodge (hearing)) [3PP] (Ghost sense) DC Block: ATTACK RANGE SAVE EFFECT Unarmed Touch DC15 Toughness (Staged) Damage (Physical) Ghostfire Range DC20 Toughness (Staged) Damage (Shadow) Phasestrike Touch DC20 Toughness (Staged) Damage (Physical) Abilities (8) + Combat (18) + Saving Throws (12) + Skills (16) + Feats (11) + Powers (40) - Drawbacks (0) = 105/110 Power Points
Kavos Posted November 28, 2010 Author Posted November 28, 2010 Notes  Okay so a complete redesign of this hero. Basically every changed. His name is based on the old Latinised Greek word Daemon which means “Daemons are good or benevolent supernatural beings between mortals and gods, such as inferior divinities and ghosts of dead heroes" And yes.. he can sing... quite well too (Beginning Professorial if you take the Core books skill level guide) and he has a beginning career as a solo artist thanks to his mothers contacts. The Quick change enhanced feat is to represent his Daemon costume, as well as the minor color change to his hair/eyes in Daemon form. Development for this character will be increasing is martial arts knowledge (feats/skills/combat) his ghostly physiology (abilities, saves) and expanding and boosting his ghost powers. (insubstantial 4, maybe a fear aura/control. super senses (he's already shown a minor inkling to some sort of danger sense in the sewer.) ext.)
Kavos Posted December 2, 2010 Author Posted December 2, 2010  Is currently working on some revisions, Will let you know once done.
Kavos Posted December 5, 2010 Author Posted December 5, 2010 Done! Took me a little while and I redid it a few times, (mostly the skills) but I'm happy with this. Over to you judges ;)
Ecalsneerg Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 You're missing the entire top section of the template. Age: 14 - June 7th 1996 OK, first problem. We do not allow under-16 characters. And I'm aware you mentioned that: At the moment he's only 14, BUT I plant to age him up to 16 in a few months. (a special story ark I'm planing, which involves him being trapped in an alternate dimension for a week Freedom side, but several years his side. At which point, His sheet will get a slight redesign -such as gaining full Insubstantial 4, and other ghostly skills. While you say you plan on it, we can't guarantee you'll age him up, and we really do not want under-16 PCs. Sorry, you'll have to make him 16. Description: With soft but defined features Oliver would be considered handsome by most. Although still developing his body is of a slightly athletic build from two years of basic martial arts training. A habit of preferring indoor activities has left Oliver with slightly more pale skin than most kids his age. He claims this is because his skin burns easier, and rarely tans. Oliver’s usual clothing is a pair of dark blue jeans, held up with a double eyelet black belt. An army green suede jacket and a Persian green knitted vest with suit tie and white collared shirt. Oliver wears a pair of black and white High-tops sneakers, with the laces done up horizontally. A small silver chain sits around his neck under his shirt, and a plain Onyx ring sits on his left ring finger. OK, really sorry, but I'm gonna have to act as an English teacher here. Bolded words are the corrected ones. It's nothing personal, it's just that this entire site is text-based. History: Ok, looks like a very good superhero origin story. But... Really, we're not English teachers (except for Cyroa, and he's not a Ref), and we don't mind a few spelling and grammar errors. But the reason I didn't go through your history and fix all the random capitalisations, lack of capitalisations, grammar oddities, the fact it's Hanover, not Hangover, and general other typing errors is that a) there were a lot, and this whole site is entirely text based. Now, people don't get annoyed be a couple of errors. But, if you're from Australia, I assume English is your first language, and that was getting to the point where it annoyed me deeply. Abilities: 0 + 2 + 2 + 0 + 2 + 2 = 8PP Strength: 10 (+0) Dexterity: 12 (+1) Constitution: 12 (+1) Intelligence: 10 (+0) Wisdom: 12 (+1) Charisma: 12 (+1) Adds up. However, his flat-footed Defence is half base defence, i.e. +2, not +5. Thus, an odd Defence score does nothing for him (i.e. Defence +7, Flat-footed +2 could come from Base Defence 4, Dodge Focus 3 for the exact same effect and 1pp saved). Saving Throws: 4 + 4 + 4 = 12PP Toughness: +7 (+1 Con, +6 [Protection]) Fortitude: +5 (+1 Con, +4) Reflex: +5 (+1 Dex, +4) Will: +5 (+1 Wis, +4) Adds up. Feats: 12PP Acrobatic Bluff Dodge Focus 2 Elusive Target Evasion 2 Hide in place sight Instant Up Sneak attack 1 Teamwork 2 Up the Wall Adds up, but I'm not sure Evasion 2 is appropriate for someone with an average Reflex like +5. Also, Up The Wall isn't on our listed of pre-approved feats, so if you could just tell me what book it's in I can discuss it with other Refs. Powers: 14 + 3 + 4 + 2 + 6 + 3 + 6 + 3 = 41PP Ghost Array 5 (Feats: Alternate Powers 3, Accurate (+2) [14PP] Base Power: Concealment 6 (All Visual (4) and All Hearing (2)) Flaws: Passive [6/10PP]Alternate Power: Strike 5 (Phase Touch) (Extras: Penetrating (DC20) [10/10PP]Alternate Power: Blast 5 (Ghost fire) (Range 50ft, DC 20) [10/10PP] Flight 1 (Ghost Flight) (Feats: Subtle (10mph, 88ft/round) [3PP] Immunity 4 (Ghostly traits) (Critical hits (2), Suffocation (all) (2)) [4PP] Morph 2 (Ghost form) (Single Appearance (Daemon) +10 Disguise) [2PP] Protection 6 (Ghostly Resilience) (+6 Toughness) [6PP] Regeneration 3 (Ghostly Recovery) (Recovery Rate (Bruised) 3 (recover 1/round without rest) DC 13) [3PP] Super-movement 3 (Ghost Phasing) (Permeate 3 (full speed)) [6PP] Super-Sensors 3 (Ghost sense) (Low-light vision, Ultra hearing, Uncanny dodge (hearing)) [3PP] Ok, adds up, but a few issues: One, your formatting is a little off. You don't need to list DCs with the powers, you don't need to list APs as x/x PP, you should list the descriptor after the [XPP]. Additionally, getting stunned can just knock him out of Ghost Form i.e. knock him clean out of his costume. Is this deliberate?

Just for the record, yes I know my spelling and grammar stink, yes English is my native language, yes I do use a spell checker but well they don't really do much do they, and no I am not a lazy... I'm dyslexic I try very hard with my spelling and grammar and I know I often screw up, but I am doing to best I can. I know its nothing personal, I've just heard them all before and its kind of a touchy subject for me... especially since I'm trying to be an author to boot. Unconscious sure (at least to begin with) but probably not stunned... any suggestions? I'll post a reply once I've redone the background stuff. (hopefully minus most errors) Atm he has 4pp left to spend.
Ecalsneerg Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Hopefully fixed. Err Not quite what I was going for... Unconscious sure (at least to begin with) but probably not stunned... any suggestions? I'll post a reply once I've redone the background stuff. (hopefully minus most errors) Atm he has 4pp left to spend. Well, with Stunned, you can at least make a Concentration roll (DC 12) to maintain the power, meanuing it'd only fail on a 4 or less. So, your options are accept you might need to spend a HP now and then, or make the power Continuous, which'd keep it on when stunned or unconscious. Alternately, use Enhanced Feat (Quick Change) for him to go into his costume, which would again, work even if stunned or unconscious. But, if you wanna expand into Morph (multiple forms), you'd... well, need to buy up to Morph again, as Quick Change works only for your costume, and Quick Change 2 only works for clothing changes.
Kavos Posted December 9, 2010 Author Posted December 9, 2010 Ok done. I've revamped the background, and went over it with a fine toothed comb. I boosted his skills again slightly, and dropped Morph for Enhanced trait, (feat: quick change) to symbolize it is actually a power, and not just a superman phone booth stunt. He should also have all his PP spent again.
Dr Archeville Posted December 12, 2010 Posted December 12, 2010 So what is the voice in his head? Because even if the char doesn't know, the Refs need to know. Is it just some repressed aspect of his psyche, or some spirit that slipped into him while he was dead from the chemical fumes (but it brought him back to life)? Also, how does Blast fit into his powerset?
Kavos Posted December 12, 2010 Author Posted December 12, 2010 Oliver isn't really a ghost, he never actually died from all the chemicals. He should have, but a number of things prevented it. The right mixture of chemicals, hormones, emotions ext all lead Olivers body to adapt and absorb the toxins rather than be destroyed by them. As the toxins are incorporated into his genetic make up, Oliver unlocks more and more abilities. However one of the vials of chemicals was a rather rare sample of der Schattenwelt, collected after an incident with Baron Samedi. This 'essence of darkness' is what shapes the voice in his head. Its not so much a spirit or even Oliver as it is a concept, an entire magical realm that feeds on darkness and fear. The basic complication that I was thinking was Oliver is afraid he's lost his mind, he doesn't know what happened that day after the gas, he doesn't know anything about his powers, or what this voice is. Although he is afraid of it, and its always the loudest in the dark. Anyone with mind reading abilities would be able to pick up the voice, as well as Oliver's fears about the voice. (so any villains who read his mind will have a very easy way to manipulate Oliver, by playing off his fears that he's insane. As for the blast, well the basic thought there was Will-o-Wisps. I'm kind of stretching the concept of what some ghosts are capable (although as I said before Oliver isn't really a ghost, he has ghost-like powers, he just isn't a ghost... at least I don't think he is. :? ) So blasts of ghostly green fire (will-o-wisps) snares of ectoplasm, ectoplasmic cages ext.
Dr Archeville Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 If he was a real ghost, or if his powers were magical, I could see blasts of flaming ectoplasm and snares of solidified ectoplasm. But he's not, so I don't. (And AFAIK, the only place Will-o'-the-wisps have any sort of blast is in D&D, where they emit tiny electrical jolts.) So the voice in his head is the predatory hunger within Der Schattenwelt? Or is it a Schattenwelt-amped "dark side" of his own personality?
Kavos Posted December 13, 2010 Author Posted December 13, 2010 Admittedly the blast/snares and whatnot are not the primary focus of this build/concept, mechanically they are there to round him out. Conceptually they are there because I see him being able to whip up a small amount of ectoplasm/energy to blast/entangle foes like some forms of ghosts. How and why I'm not 100% sure, but have they ever explained why superman can shoot lasers out of his eyes? Maybe because he was so close to death, mixed with the chemicals gave him some rudimentary ability to summon small quantities of ectoplasm in the form of blasts (and later snares)? So the voice in his head is the predatory hunger within Der Schattenwelt? Or is it a Schattenwelt-amped "dark side" of his own personality? I'd be leaning towards the predatory hunger within Der Schattenwelt. something he will eventually have to rid himself of. I don't mean to be difficult, I mean to say that I can see the character as both a ghost but not a ghost at the same time. Power/ability wise I see him like a ghost in almost every aspect (although more nicer than the usual), but at the same time I don't see him as being dead or having died. if that makes sense.
Dr Archeville Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 They have explained: Supes is expelling excess absorbed solar energy. If he's already got a link to der Shattenwelt, why not have his powers be lnked to/reflective of it, too? I.e., instead of a blast of burning green ectoplasm, a Blast of shadowy force? Lots of options available for a Darkness wielder.
Kavos Posted December 13, 2010 Author Posted December 13, 2010 Because black and toxic green look awesome together . Well to be honest the der Shattenwelt was a recent edition last night after reading that very article. I thought it helped tie up a few lose ends. With that how I see the ghost fire in my head now, would be a black core with a toxic green mid section with flakes of greenish/yellow on the tips. Perhaps the color is a result of the shadow's and the toxic chemicals? In any case I could change the damage type to shadow/darkness? That being said I don't see all of his powers being reflective in some way to Der Shattenwelt. (in the sense that he can still fly in broad daylight, he cant create darkness ext.)
Kavos Posted December 15, 2010 Author Posted December 15, 2010 Added a small attachment to the Powers and Tactics to better explain the blast and were some of his powers come from. Also changed the blast descriptor in the DCbox to Shadow instead of paranormal.
