Muse's aura and eyes stopped glowing as she saw the events fold in front of her eyes. it was a horrible sight to behold. She likened it to a train wreck something she couldn't stop, but something she couldn't stop watching. When it was over there were several big angry demons staring her and Gabriel down. They were everything she had been told about demons. They were large and muscular and had sharp teeth and twisted horns and cloven hooves. Their red skin and tight frames did not give them gender, but she could almost pin them all as male. She thought about blasting them all, but Gabriel and the woman rebirthing the baby were there. She did not want to endanger him or the child. She looked to the closest demon and he began to glow with a golden corona. The corona became a blaze of divine energy as the demon screamed something hideous and popped into a pile of black messy foul smelling goo.

The demons did not seem to care that one of their ranks were gone from them. They focused on the task at hand, taking out the interlopers. They assessed the threat. Four of them made a sprint towards Muse and three of them when to take on Gabriel. They tried to pull the girl down but she seemed to dodge their every blow. They tried to do the same with Gabriel and were a bit more successful. One of them pinned the hero to the ground! "You will not take the child from us! It is too late!"

Gabriel grit his teeth as one of the infernal beasts dragged him to the ground. For several moments, he was practically helpless in its grip.

Then, he managed to gain some leverage, and at least get enough room he wasn't totally helpless on the ground, even if the creature still had a grip on him.

"Muse! Get the child out of here! Don't worry about me!"

Gabriel turned and tried to blast the demon that had had such a hold on him. However, in his rush, and in such close quarters, his shot went wild, striking the wall.

Muse nodded at Gabriel's command and rushed toward the grisly scene where the rites were being held. the beast was almost sown up as the leader chanted. When she called forth her divine power to smite the leader something odd happened. It was like he absorbed it! The golden corona that signified her smite was sucked into the body of the leader as he chanted. It seemed to bolter him even as he grew larger and more demonic looking! Muse stopped and stared in awe. What had she done?

The demonic henchmen seemed bolstered by their leader's empowering. Maybe that's why they were so distracted. They seemed to flail at Gabriel, not really hitting him with anything. and only one was lucky enough to catch Muse, but the beast dragged her to the ground!

Gabriel pretty much ignored the fumbling demonic warriors. He had to stop the ceremony.

Thus, he used his left arm to support his right arm, taking careful aim before finally letting off a small, concentrated burst of sound.

"You will not do this to an innocent child!"

Muse tried her damnedest to break free on the demon's grip but no matter how hard she tried it was a little bit quicker and a little bit stronger. Holding on to her like a vice grip. The Demons futilely swung at Gabriel one managed to even scrape him. The demon holding Muse down got a sinister look in it's eyes. Even more sinister than it looked usually. It saddled itself on her lower torso. Writhing, she felt something grab her arms and her legs, she didn't know. She was focusing on the thing pinning her down. In a mockery of the lifesaving technique, the demon placed it's hands on her ribcage and pressed hard. She tried to scream but it was too late. The last thing she heard before passing out was loud crunching and snapping noises where the demon pressed down.

Gabriel glanced with worry towards Muse. He wanted to help her...but the child was still in horrible danger.

His heart heavy, he levitated a bit off the ground and flew himself away from the pack of demons. Then, he took careful aim, and fired directly at the demon that was still sewing, hoping to disrupt that part of the ritual. Perhaps then he could rush in and extract the child.

The second sewing demon fell over with a shriek! The chanting demon looked to Gabriel with a smile. At least he thought it was a smile. The seven soldier demons were about to pounce on him, but they stepped down with a wave of the leader's hand. "[bg=#000000]You,[/bg]" it said gutturally with a point towards Gabriel, "[bg=#000000]You will finish their work.[/bg]" The voice resonated in Gabriel's head. He saw the soldier demons drag off Muse's body, but all he could hear was the leader's resonating voice commanding him to come and do the work of evil.

Gabriel's face went entirely blank. But it wasn't because he was succumbing to the demon's control.

No, it was such righteous fury that his face could no longer properly express it.

Before speaking a single word, he raised his right hand and sent a pulse of sound screaming at the lead demon's chest.

"In the name of the Lord, I command you to leave! In the name of the Song of God, begone! You shall not shed more innocent blood this day! You shall not have the child! The Lord is with me, and I shall neither fear nor obey you! Begone, twisted fallen angel! Begone, pathetic shadow of your former self!"

He dashed over to the table where the poor child had almost been consumed by a horrible ritual.

"BEGONE!"
