Dr Archeville
Wherein Arrowhawk brings a badly-injured Valkyrie to Doktor Archeville, and later Evil!Dok has a tete-a-tete with Valkyire. Link to comment
quotemyname
Yay! EDIT: Don't think I should post yet. Vivian doesn't know where Doc lives, and likely is unable to move under her own power (at least not fully). And if she's capable of locomotion at all it would be with heavy aid from Arrowhawk. Ecalsneerg
Arrowhawk does know where Dok lives, but is still gonna ask for a ride! (Am I deliberately ambiguous on where they are currently? Yes. Yes, I am) Link to comment
quotemyname
I decided to go with the, "we haven't left yet," post. Link to comment
quotemyname
Just a point of order on something that I forgot earlier, If doc tries to remove The Orb of Fate from her neck when she is out, the same thing happens to him as to Ragnarok. He's unable to lift it, and it will drag him to the ground if he tries to hold onto it. Not sure if you want to mention anything about that in your posts, Doc. Link to comment
Dr Archeville
... yeah, that would be kinda important. Lemme think on how to edit that in. How much does Valkyrie-ing up change her appearance? I.e., would he recognize her as Vivian from Brainiac Brunch once he gets her armor off? (Of course, all the damage she's taken could be an effective disguise, too...) Link to comment
quotemyname
Normally, as per secret ID, no. However in special cases like this, yes. He does know who she is. Just as Arrowhawk recognized her when he saw her close enough in the basement of the SHADOW complex. The injuries are extensive, though I doubt it would be enough to throw off Doc. Her costume usually includes an obscuring half helm (which is gone now) which provides her with "Clark Kent Glasses" if you will. Just like in the picture on her character sheet. Once removed you would, "recognize her all of a sudden,". Link to comment
Dr Archeville
Post edited to reflect stubborn nature of the Orb. Link to comment
quotemyname
I like it! I think I'll have Viv convalesce for a few more posts. Gives the men time to talk. Link to comment
Dr Archeville
I think there may have been some miscommunication re: my rough plan for the events of this thread. My basic idea was as follows: Arrowhawk brings Valkyrie/Vivian to Archeville for healing after the SHADOW mission. She gets patched up, he realizes who she really is. Later, Viv gets a message from on high, telling her that she's to be tested, to see if she's still worthy of her position given the un-Aesir-ish things she's done in the past. (Since Qote told me Valk doesn't go on patrol, Viv mostly just waits for her higher-ups/the Orb of Fate to tell her when and where to go Valkyrie.) Valk goes, meets up with Chevalier, who's in the process of putting down some feral vamps. They finish up, then he turns on her, epic battle ensues. Afterlife, Odin & Co. tell Viv she failed in her test, failed in her mission, and will not be allowed into Valhalla. Before going off to... wherever it is she goes, Viv does manage to send a brief (and possibly cryptic) message to 'Hawk. Link to comment
quotemyname
Hmm I thought she WAS going to ascend, having died a warriors death in battle... How about Doc issues a "holding pattern" on the events at the SHADOW fortress. It's been collapsed, Ragnarok is likely dead pending his resurrection. They've got a week's grace period. at least. They could just investigate it later. Or better yet, dispatch the Interceptors to investigate! Link to comment
quotemyname
Yea, my original ideas for the TATO thread got thrown so out of whack and off track by timing, and lack of posts by people in other threads, etc. It's not what it once was. So for all intents and purposes, I'm falling back on the explanation that Ragnarok had taken over a Rogue cell. (maybe he further brainwashed the troops so that they got over their fanatical devotion to SHADOW or something). Link to comment
Dr Archeville
Actually, in the AGENTS OF FREEDOM book, it does mention that Ragnarok was talked back into re-joining SHADOW, and serves on the Penumbra (SHADOW's inner council). Getting them to follow him is plausible, since he has half their DNA (Ragnarok is Wilhelm Kantor's son, and all of SHADOW's masked troops are clones of Wilhelm Kantor, though the public doesn't know Ragnarok's heritage and believes the clones are made from a different Nazi). quotemyname
I did read that whole section actually. What I'm unsure of, is how you as admin want to rrun the story from here. My point is: his goal was to try finding some way of bringing his mother here or going to valhalla himself. If this goes any further, you should probably be the one to take the reins. Link to comment
Dr Archeville
Honestly, I don't have much interest in running that side-plot. I'm just here to kill you  Link to comment
quotemyname
That's fine. I say we end it here... ish... Fade to black with the incoming conference call, and get on with the rest of the thread. Link to comment

quotemyname
Viv may be a charge recklessly into battle type, but she still has some sense. Does she recognize the armor? It sounds vaguely reminiscent of daedelus, but even as a player I'm unsure. Can I know(hist) that? Also possibly sense motive on the situation itself? Who is on which side? Or is it a pretty clear cut battle? Super hero fighting escaped committed asylum patients, etc.? Link to comment
Dr Archeville
Know (history) tells her this is not Daedalus. The armor's more Medieval French in design, not Greek, and this one's gold-y whereas Daedalus's is bronze-y. You can try an untrained Int roll for an ersatz Knowledge (Current Events) check to see if she recognizes more. The scene itself is fairly clear-cut, a guy fighting a bunch of dudes pouring out of a cave in the rock under the asylum. Are they escaped inmates? Well, they do look animalistic, crazed and bloodthirsty... but one might expect, if this many inmates were escaping, that some sort of alarm would be sounding from the asylum above, but there is not. Gimme a Notice and a Sense Motive check. Link to comment
quotemyname
Notice; Sense Motive (1d20+7=17, 1d20+7=24) Untrained Knowledge (Current Events) (1d20+1=19) Invisible Castle is cooperating! It's a Christmas Miracle! :D Link to comment
Dr Archeville
Gut reaction (Sense Motive check) is that this is a hero who's up against a horde of psychopaths. That untrained Know (Current Events) check lets her know the armored figure is known as Chevalier. He's apparently a Frenchman who came to FC during the October Cultist/Undead Spike, and has been fighting undead monsters and evil cultists since then. Has never been seen out of his armor. Notice checks lets her know that, even in the light of the full moon, these guys look unusually pale, and their eyes unnaturally red. The long, sharp nails and fangs aren't typical of escaped mental patients, either. Link to comment

Burst], Selective Attack; Flaws: Action [Full]; Feats: Knockback 5, Variable Descriptor [Electric/Sonic], Progression [Area] 2 [250-ft. radius Burst]) + Linked Dazzle 10 (Audio and Visual Senses; Extras: Area [General, 50-ft. Dr Archeville
If she's at the edge of the cliff, she's about 50 feet above the melee. (Asylum's on top of the cliff.) Unless you meant to say "the face of the cliff," where the cave mouth is, out of which the crazy people are running. Link to comment
