JackgarPrime Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 My plan is thus: Get into the room (will opening the door take an action?), and smash as many 'bots as I can in a surprise while under the cover. Are any of them in range of taking 5-foot-steps of each other, so as to be open for Takedown Attack 2, or will I need to try and knock out 1/round?
Supercape Posted December 28, 2010 Author Posted December 28, 2010 They aren't exactly spread out together, but you could certainly get a pair of them. They are the Medium Robot archetype from M&M Core Book.
JackgarPrime Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Ah, good. Haven't gotten much straight-up fodder before! So, looking at their stats, I could just take 10 on all of them no problem? Well then, Victory will Charge the first one (switching his array to Flight 6/Strike 11 first) and smash it up. You mentioned a pair, so he can Takedown Attack 2 to jump to another one and take it out. Any more he can do in now, or just the two?
Supercape Posted December 28, 2010 Author Posted December 28, 2010 Completely off the top of my head, I'll say two. As elves come in pairs, or something. And you can certainly take 10 to hit them. Toughness Rolls 1d20+10=18, 1d20+10=19 = 2 Elves smashed. I shall call this a surprise round, so its also time for initiative rolls. 1d20=6 Rene's Initiative 1d20+2=8 Toy Boy (who is hidden!) Initiative 1d20+5=13
JackgarPrime Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 I guess I have to make a new initiative since this is a completely new combat, so here I go: Initiative (1d20+9=11) Bad initiative rolls everywhere! I'll post Victory's smashing.
Supercape Posted December 29, 2010 Author Posted December 29, 2010 Well Smashed Sir. Toy Boy (for now) is hidden, and operating remote controls. In this case, two of the construction arms are swivelling round to try and Grapple Victory! 1d20+4=12 I was going to call that a surprise attack as its unexpected, but its a miss and Victory has Uncanny Dodge anyway. Victory is up again.
JackgarPrime Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 Can I safely say that I "smash two more robots?" DM of the Rings style? I'm pretty sure DC 31 is impossible for these robot minions.
Supercape Posted December 29, 2010 Author Posted December 29, 2010 It is. They are lined up in pairs!
JackgarPrime Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 Was that actually Rene's whole turn, or can Victory give him another shout before we move to the next turn?
Supercape Posted December 31, 2010 Author Posted December 31, 2010 Yes, Rene is using up his turn with his complication: Creaky Bones, meaning he is a little unsprightly and hard of hearing to follow Victories turn of speed. All he can manage is getting into the room and presenting himself as a target! +1 HP. Talking is a free action! There are four robots left. Two move to Victory and start swinging... 1d20+5=15, 1d20+5=14 Both Miss 1d20+5=6, 1d20+5=24 One smashes Rene 1d20+8=12 And actually stuns / bruises him! Victory is up next!
JackgarPrime Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 Awww, poor Rene. They're picking on an old man who can't quite move right! :rage: Victory goes ahead and smashes the two bots that were foolish enough to attack him!
Supercape Posted January 2, 2011 Author Posted January 2, 2011 Forgot to say it was New turn Toy Boy - 13 - Unharmed, Hidden Victory - 11 - 1 HP. Unharmed Elves, 8 - Unharmed, 4 Left Rene - 6, 4 HP, Stunned until [8] Yes, Victory is up and can smash two bots! The two remaining Elves by Rene will continue swinging at him... 1d20+5=15, 1d20+5=15 Unfortunately, both hit, as he is flat footed (stunned) 1d20+7=26, 1d20+7=11 First one is shaken off no trouble, the second one is pure ouch, so he will burn an HP to reroll. 1d20+7=15, with the +10 for reroll is 25, more than enough.
Supercape Posted January 2, 2011 Author Posted January 2, 2011 Rene thus fights back, with a mystic blast! 1d20+8=9 .... Could he be rolling any worse in this thread? Well, I will let that go, it will no doubt home in next round. Onto next round! Toy Boy - 13 - Unharmed, Hidden Victory - 11 - 1 HP. Unharmed Elves, 8 - Unharmed, 2 Left Rene - 6, 3 HP, Bruised, Mystic Blast homing in on Elf 1
Supercape Posted January 2, 2011 Author Posted January 2, 2011 Which means Toy Boy is up, and activating a pressie! Boomf! Tear Gas Grenade! [as per Core book equipment] DC 14 Fort save, Visual Dazzle and Nauseate. 1d20+7=14 for Rene... Just!
JackgarPrime Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 Fort Save (1d20+8=22) Victory passes just fine. (Besides, I think it came up in another thread that because of the nature of Victory's suffocation immunity, gases wouldn't affect him much) So is it Victory's turn then? If so, he'll give Rene a hand by smashing the last two bots who seem to be giving him trouble.
Supercape Posted January 3, 2011 Author Posted January 3, 2011 Feel free to smash in IC! From a rules perspective, I would personally be clear that immunity to suffocation is just that. Immunity to gas attacks would have to be bought in addition: although I wouldn't have thought it would cost much! Of course, that's a rule up for discussion, but it would be how I would interpret it!
JackgarPrime Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 It was a discussion that came up in the thread where Victory was chasing Push. But it was all in the chat, so I have no evidence of it! It's more of a "logic based on the fluff of his powers", but anyway, there's a room to be dealt with!
Supercape Posted January 4, 2011 Author Posted January 4, 2011 The Horror The Horror! EMP Blast affecting the nervous system (hey, its mad science). Its also a Radar Sense dazzle, but seeing as nobody has radar senses... Stun 10, Magnetic Descriptor! Which for Victory is the pain! DC 30 Stun! 1d20+7=20 Rene Just Makes it. For reference, the Probe is a one-shot device.
JackgarPrime Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 He couldn't have actually made the save without getting an auto-success on a 20, but it could've been worse! Stun Save (1d20+8=26) He could've failed by 5+!
Supercape Posted January 5, 2011 Author Posted January 5, 2011 Dazed! Rene will blast the Probe, just to be sure. As its immobile, and fragile, I will handwaive this
JackgarPrime Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 So, depending on who is currently up in turn count, I guess Victory will search the room with his Infravision and ultravision, to see if any of the presents look out of place.
Supercape Posted January 9, 2011 Author Posted January 9, 2011 Could we have a search roll? Ill say DC is 30 to find him this round, 25 for round after, 20 for 2 rounds time, etc...
JackgarPrime Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Yeah, a whole lotta nothin' Search (1d20+1=7) By the way, does he get any bonuses for his various super-senses? I know it wouldn't matter for this check, but for future ones it might.
Supercape Posted January 9, 2011 Author Posted January 9, 2011 Absolutely! Without them, it would be taking considerably longer. You are basically in a small warehouse full of large boxes looking for a small boy...! Given you have analytical visual senses, I would have thought victory could instantly calculate the dimensions of every present, and thus quickly eliminate which ones could or could not house toy boy. I guess it works like an HUD device with readouts, but that is for you to fluff!
JackgarPrime Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Well that is, indeed, how it works. But I didn't want to just say that he could do that and thus completely negate the entire challenge! Unless, of course, I'm allowed to. :P
