Barnum Posted October 28, 2007 Author Posted October 28, 2007 "I've got a bad feelin' about this." "Shut up and load tha' truck, you mook! Big Al ain't gonna wait all night for his merchandise." It was just before midnight when "Big Al" Driogano's men--2 men and a woman actually--pulled up in front of the warehouse with their "make-shift" armored car. They were there to collect some cash . . .okay, lots of cash . . . to take it down to the docks as payment for . . . merchandise. The three street thugs never entered the building. Instead a rather fat Greek man began brining the sacks of small bills to the door. Two of "Big Al's" men loaded the truck while the third kept watch. They were all well armed. Very soon all that loot would be free from the building that was no doubt loaded with armed men and would be on the truck . . . only guarded by those three thugs. It was a tremendous opportunity for someone with cunning and stealth. "I swear we're being watched! I gotta bad feelin'!" "Shut up!" It was the woman who barked at him this time. "I'm watchin' yer back. The sooner you get the truck loaded, the sooner we're outta here!" It was an astute observation . . . they were being watched, by eyes full of greed and malice. cosmicarus Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Ver-Man sniffed, his breath coming out in wheezy gasps as it always did. His eyes caught the light and became as two glitening specks peering out from the sealed drain grate. He was watching them - those uplanders. His breath quickened when he realised what they were doing - stealing my prizes! He let a high pitched growl escape before racing back into the sewers - kill them now! Running toward the sewer exit, Ver-Man glanced once more at the uplanders through a crack in the pavement - uplanders have guns. He stopped short, his little mind whirring at high speed. Ver-Man didn't like guns. What can do? What can do? His mind and his breath stopped as he remembered his sewer pipe companion, Pincer. With that thought only in mind, he dissappeared He found his man (so to speak), and related his woes. He didn't even wait to confirm that he had Pincer's aid - he just told him there were tasty uplanders nearby, and where they were, then Ver-Man sped off in the direction of the nearest manhole - brightly-brightleys! It was all he could think about. He found the cover he was looking for and carefully clambered his way up the ladder. Slowly, with his heart pounding fast, he shifted the man hole cover to the side. He stuck his nose out into the city air and sniffed - grossly smells the city. Still there was nothing he could immediately sense and so, with a paranoid distress at battle with excited expectation, Ver-Man made his way into the cool, night air. Ver-Man wasn't as clear about where things were on the surface, and he certainly doesn't like standing on the open road. He makes for the nearest obstacle he cas see - a tree in a nearby parkland - and hopes to make himself invisible there.

zero21 Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Finding ver-man's (aka:fuzzy) offer of a good fight & "fast food" to good to pass up, pincer peered up throught the grate in the street..he could make out the bottom of a vehicle of some kind..hopping onto a nearby ledge he swung one of his razorsharp pincers into the left, then the right front tires & took a few steps forward & burrowed to the surface to eat.

Barnum Posted October 30, 2007 Author Posted October 30, 2007 As Ver-man took up a position in the blackness under one of the great trees in the park, he watched Pincer make his move. With two quick slashes, the villain flattened the front tires of the truck. The thugs reacted immediately. "What tha--" The woman in the black coat, standing nearest the front of the truck, was the first to notice. "Hey!" she yelled. The thug nearest the door dropped his bag of money and shouldered his rifle. "What is it?" he barked. The third thug . . . the one at the back of the truck never saw it coming.

zero21 Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Seething with anticipation pincer swung his razor edged claws into the back of the thug with his back to him , connecting with a resounding crack as he connected with the mans head, knocking him out cold. 1d20-> [20] = (20)

cosmicarus Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 Ver-Man sees that one of those people – uplanders! – fall to a mighty blow from Pincer - clever, clever crabby. He chuckles to himself, unable to stifle his glee – clever, clever rat! He would love to run out to them, slashing wildly, but at this distance, even if he sprinted, he may not make it to them by the time they return fire – dirty guns! Although he isn’t sure what discretion means, the word flashes through his small mind as he crawls along the park wall, making for the next tree – first be closer, then be hurting. He grins as well and involuntarily as he can, sprinting stealthily to the next tree along in the park.

Barnum Posted November 1, 2007 Author Posted November 1, 2007 The thugs were taken by completely by surprise. When his teammate went down from the smack in the head, the thug near the door open fired at the monstrous crab. His partner, when she heard the shots came running around the side of the truck and began blasting away too. The villains were so rattled, however, by his sudden (and horrific) appearance, that their shots went wide.

cosmicarus Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 Ver-Man hears the shots - stinking uplanders! They always cheated - cheaty, cheaty! They should be taught a lesson. Ver-Man leaps from his hiding place and makes for the nearest human - filthy woman! He does his best to be sneaky, and gets into range before whipping her with his (if you'll forgive the description) ratty tail. He feels satisfaction as he connects with his prey and drops to all fours, knowing instinctively that it's harder to shoot a target low to the ground. Inside he cackles with malicious glee...

zero21 Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 Enraged by by gunfire, although slighty amused at the reaction his appearance has caused, he rushes the last thug, and vicously bashed the human in his face, delighting in the sound of cruching bones..he stepped aside as the unconcious man fell onto the sidewalk next to him, he signaled to his rat friend that they were all down, & that it was time to run with the loot.
