Sandman XI Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Something you can feel, but is not really there. How would you do that?
Sandman XI Posted January 5, 2011 Author Posted January 5, 2011 Illusions have no substance and cannot have any real-world effect. So illusions cannot provide illumination, nutrition, warmth, or the like (although they can provide the sensations of these things). Likewise, an illusory wall only prevents people from moving through an area so long as they believe it’s real, and an illusory bridge or floor is revealed as false as soon as someone tries to walk across it, and falls through it!Emphasis mine.
Raveled Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 :P Then how about Create Object w/ Alternate Save (Will)?
Dr Archeville Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Emphasis mine. Something you can feel, but is not really there. How would you do that? Tactile Illusion is exactly what you've requested, Sand.
Sandman XI Posted January 5, 2011 Author Posted January 5, 2011 I was asking more how to build something like a tactile illusion. Not the Illusion power specifically. I knew that the illusion power was not the answer.
Raveled Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 So, wait. You want an illusion, but not an illusion? Can you give us an example, Sand?
Sandman XI Posted January 5, 2011 Author Posted January 5, 2011 A person or object that you can interact with as long as you believe it's real. This is what I'm going for. You can use the imaginary computer if you don't know it's fake. you can hug the imaginary person as long as you 'know' it's 'real'.
Dr Archeville Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Again, that's Illusion. You can hug an Illusionary person, and -- like that illusionary wall -- they'll feel real until & unless A) the hug-er have some reason to suspect the hug-ee is not real, and then the hug-er make the Will save against it.
N/A Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 If you want them to be able to reach out and feel an illusionary wall with their fingers, that's just a Tactile Illusion. If you want them to be able to lean against that illusionary wall, or be thrown against it, without falling through the empty space, then you'd need some sort of Create Object effect in the mix as well.
Avenger Assembled Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 Holodeck Man! Illusion X (all senses) LINKED Create Object X (Extra: Movable) (6 pp/rank) Woof, pricey. You could put a Feedback flaw on it, I guess.
N/A Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 A person or object that you can interact with as long as you believe it's real. This is what I'm going for. You can use the imaginary computer if you don't know it's fake. you can hug the imaginary person as long as you 'know' it's 'real'. Just to clarify, yes, Tactile Illusion covers all of those examples.
