Fox Posted March 4, 2011 Author Posted March 4, 2011 Speaking of GK.... Ranged Attack Roll vs. The Blob (autofire blast; fatigued, power attack -2/+2) (1d20 + 11 - 1 - 2=13) Yes, that sounds about like my luck. It hits, but not by a lot. DC26 (base) + 2 (power attack) + 3 (autofire bonus) = DC31. Toughness Save vs. GK's Autofire Blast, DC31 (bruise x1) (1d20 + 18 - 1=27) Sweet jumpin' Jehoshaphat, it didn't make the save. 1 more bruise for the Blob! A slightly better attack roll and it'd be stunned, too. Blah. ROUND FOURTEEN: (18 rounds remaining on Obscure) 9: Gaian Knight - 0HP - bruise x3, fatigued 6: Supercape - 3HP - bruise x1, fatigued 2: Blobette 4 - bruise x2 -2: The Blob - bruise x2 (7 rounds to gamma blast poison, 8 rounds to gamma blast poison)
Supercape Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 More Gamma from Supercape. Incidentally, I think that once the 7 rounds kicks in (or 6 now), it has been gamma blast every round, meaning it will "double up" every round. ALthough hopefully we will have finished or be on home run by then!
Fox Posted March 5, 2011 Author Posted March 5, 2011 Unfortunately.... This extra, when applied to an effect requiring a saving throw, causes it to work like a toxin. If the target’s save fails, the effect occurs. One minute later, the target must make another save or suf- fer the effect a second time. I read this as - and checked it with Shaen just to make sure I wasn't completely off-base, who agreed that the extra was stupidly unclear - that the first save can save you from the second one. That is, you're only inflicted with the poison part of the attack if the first save failed - otherwise you either shrugged off the poison or it couldn't penetrate your defenses to begin with. So the Blob will be taking poison hits in 6-7 rounds (though I agree, hopefully the fight won't last that long! Kinda made these guys too durable, didn't I....), but not every round, alas. Speaking of taking hits.... Fortitude Save vs. Supercape's Gamma Blast, DC25 (1d20 + 10=20) Bruised and stunned! Not only does it take more damage, but it won't be making its way out of the cloud. The little blob spends its turn finally getting out of the obscure, though. Oh, GK, if you'd been more tactical you'd have surrounded the cloud with a wall.... The big blob, of course, spends its round stunned.
Fox Posted March 5, 2011 Author Posted March 5, 2011 GK switches targets again to stop the runner before it hurts someone or starts throwing stuff again. Ranged Attack Roll vs. Blobette 4 (autofire blast; fatigued, power attack -2/+2) (1d20 + 11 - 1 - 2=17) DC26 (base) + 2 (power attack) + 5 (autofire bonus) = DC33. Toughness Save vs. Gaian Knight's Autofire Blast, DC33 (bruised x2) (1d20 + 15 - 2=25) Fail by 8; bruised+stunned. Hurrah! ROUND FIFTEEN: (17 rounds remaining on Obscure) 9: Gaian Knight - 0HP - bruise x3, fatigued 6: Supercape - 3HP - bruise x1, fatigued 2: Blobette 4 - bruise x3, stunned -2: The Blob - bruise x3, stunned (6 rounds to gamma blast poison, 7 rounds to gamma blast poison, 10 rounds to gamma blast poison)
Supercape Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 Cool wearing them down slowly. I really dont want to read poison as only inflciting up the same effect as it the initial effect did... book-keeping nightmare. For some reason I had in my head he had blasted it each round. Wishful thinking eh? Let me know when to post IC. Looks like Giain needs a post.
Fox Posted March 5, 2011 Author Posted March 5, 2011 Well, he's blasted every round, it's just had horrifying luck making its saves. But it's going down by inches. Doing a round summary once every two or three players is really, really handy, and I think I stole the idea from Shaen. It makes bookkeeping so much easier, as long as you don't screw up when things like timers are first added. GK's post is up, Supercape's turn.
Fox Posted March 6, 2011 Author Posted March 6, 2011 I'm assuming that's another standard Gamma Blast, with no frills or other actions on his turn. Correct me if I'm wrong. Fortitude Save vs. Supercape's Gamma Blast, DC25 (1d20 + 10=12) Failure by 13! Staggered & Stunned! Neither blob nor blobette is capable of action this turn, so I'm folding their post into GK's again.
Fox Posted March 6, 2011 Author Posted March 6, 2011 GK's gonna keep on the little blobbette, as Supercape seems to have the big one well in hand! Ranged Attack Roll vs. Blobette 4 (autofire blast; fatigued, power attack -2/+2) (1d20 + 11 - 1 - 2=25) DC26 (base) + 2 (power attack) + 5 (autofire bonus) = DC33. Toughness Save vs. Gaian Knight's Autofire Blast, DC33 (bruised x3) (1d20 + 15 - 3=26) Failure by 7. Bruised, and stunned again! Well, this fight has gone in our favor relatively quickly. Let's see if we can keep up that momentum! ROUND SIXTEEN: (16 rounds remaining on Obscure) 9: Gaian Knight - 0HP - bruise x3, fatigued 6: Supercape - 3HP - bruise x1, fatigued 2: Blobette 4 - bruise x4, stunned -2: The Blob - bruise x3, stunned, staggered (5 rounds to gamma blast poison, 6 rounds to gamma blast poison, 9 rounds to gamma blast poison)
Supercape Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Well at least one more blast of Gamma this round if you please - I may switch back to dazzles next round if that dust cloud fails. Normal DC 25 Fort check.
Fox Posted March 8, 2011 Author Posted March 8, 2011 Fortitude Save vs. Supercape's Gamma Blast, DC25 (1d20 + 10=25) Curses. Just barely. The Blob makes its way out of the dust cloud...and then beelines for Blobette 4. Not enough actions left in the round for noms, though. The blobette is stunned, and incapable of action.
Fox Posted March 8, 2011 Author Posted March 8, 2011 GK's turn. Ranged Attack Roll vs. The Blob (autofire blast; fatigued, power attack -2/+2) (1d20 + 11 - 1 - 2=11) Really, Invisible Castle? Really? Sigh. DC26 (base) + 2 (power attack) + 2 (autofire bonus) = DC30 Toughness. Toughness Save vs. GK's Autofire Blast, DC30 (bruised x3) (1d20 + 18 - 3=18) Failure by 12. Staggered + Stunned, but the staggered stacks with the previous staggered to make a KO! Far more Supercape's victory than GK's, though. GK just got lucky with that last blow.
Fox Posted March 11, 2011 Author Posted March 11, 2011 There's still a remaining blobette. Is Supercape ignoring it due to greater concerns? Absolutely reasonable, of course, but I thought I'd make sure.
Supercape Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Yes, for now - more concerned there isnt a radioactive spill off goo everywhere first (I presume there isn't although happy to deal with that too).
Fox Posted March 12, 2011 Author Posted March 12, 2011 The Blob, as near as Supercape's senses can tell, soaked up all that radiation like a sponge; there are barely even traces of the gamma blasts left. The porous rock is almost indistinguishable from when Supercape first scanned it - the tide-like radioactive 'breathing' is rapidly going dormant again, if a little unsteady. The rock itself is even more dense than before, though not by a huge margin.
Fox Posted March 12, 2011 Author Posted March 12, 2011 Blobette 4 makes a run for Supercape, throwing things as it goes. Ranged Attack Roll vs. Supercape (thrown improvised object) (1d20 + 6=25) Oh dear. It's not going down without a fight. Still, it's one of the little ones. DC25 Toughness Save for Supercape.
Supercape Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 TOughness Save coming up. Im going to try to remember his pre-loevel boost toughness which I think was +14. 1d20+14=21 A bruise. He can take it! Gamma Blasting back!
Fox Posted March 13, 2011 Author Posted March 13, 2011 TOughness Save coming up. Im going to try to remember his pre-loevel boost toughness which I think was +14. 1d20+14=21 A bruise. He can take it! Woo! Gamma Blasting back! It's, ah, not his turn. I just figured I'd give Supercape a chance to save so GK would know how bad he'd been hit before acting.
Supercape Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 NO worries... it seemed appropriate to erupt some radiation back, but if its ok that can be fluff till his round?
Fox Posted March 13, 2011 Author Posted March 13, 2011 Fortunately, the last enemy on the field has already been beaten around a bit. Ranged Attack Roll vs. Blobette 4 (autofire blast; fatigued, power attack -2/+2) (1d20 + 11 - 1 - 2=15) DC26 (base) + 2 (power attack) + 4 (autofire bonus) = DC32 Toughness. Toughness Save vs. Gaian Knight's Autofire Blast, DC32 (bruised x4) (1d20 + 15 - 4=19) Failure by 13. Stunned, staggered. ROUND SEVENTEEN: (15 rounds remaining on Obscure) 9: Gaian Knight - 0HP - bruised x3, fatigued 6: Supercape - 3HP - bruised x1, fatigued 2: Blobette 4 - bruised x4, stunned, staggered
Fox Posted March 17, 2011 Author Posted March 17, 2011 Fortitude Save vs. Supercape's Gamma Blast, DC25 (1d20 + 8=26) Invisible Castle hates you, and wants you to suffer. That said, I don't, and this combat has already gone on too long! The blobette, showing intelligent-but-animalistic logic (free Life Sciences result!), figures its best option is to go voluntarily dormant; it's injured, outnumbered, knows it can't burrow fast enough to escape, and knows its enemies took out a much stronger enemy than it. End of combat.
Supercape Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 Just whats the mass of these things? if under 1000lbs, SC could jus plonk them far side of the universe with teleport (providing they are now considered inanimate). However, I dont know how that plays with your thoughts on if there are more, where they came from etc. I guess SC still considers them a scientific mystery to be solved!
Fox Posted March 23, 2011 Author Posted March 23, 2011 Well under 1000lbs, yes. Way heavier than they should be for their size, but they shed most of their mass to go dormant. Supercape could indeed plonk them on the other side of the universe if he so desired. That's up to him! If you're curious, they're pretty much just space monsters. Tarrant's buddy found them sealed away underground because the civilization that found them when their meteor 'homes' crashed to earth didn't know what else to do with them. That they subdued the things at all is fairly impressive, if you ask me. There are probably more somewhere, but they require a good dose of radiation to get woken up, so the world's safe. For now.
