Uninverted Posted January 24, 2008 Author Posted January 24, 2008 Michael stood on top of one of the larger apartments, and looked down upon most of Midtown. With his vision, it was like watching a movie on a giant screen. He saw every single person on the ground like they were a few feet away. It was totally worth stacking three trash cans then running up 20 floors on the fire escape.

flashedarling Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 From below the crash of a window breaking. Then a woman's scream echoes down the street. Another crash. Three floors from the roof a black figure is dangling a woman from the side of the building. The broken remains of a large vase scatter the street below.

Heridfel Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 Kevin was leaning against the sign for the bus when he heard the scream. His body immediately tenses, and he looks to see where it came from. The woman dangling out her window, being held by... something, holds his attention. "What now," he thinks to himself. Almost unconsciously, he starts to run across the empty street, towards where the woman would fall if she were dropped. He doesn't know how fast he can heal someone, but he's trying to ready himself to do it as soon as she might hit the ground.

Uninverted Posted January 25, 2008 Author Posted January 25, 2008 From his vantage point, Michael saw the woman dangling over the edge, heard her scream, and made a split second decision to run down the fire escape as quickly as possible to get to her. He jumped from where he was onto the top stair, and ran down two at a time, almost falling over. When he finally got to the 17th floor, he jumped in, picked up a shard of pottery lying on the floor, and threw it at whatever was holding the woman, aiming squarely between the shoulder- blades.

flashedarling Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 The shard of ceramic hit square between his shoulders. It made a squelching noise as if it had been thrown into mud. He turns and the blackness pulls away from his face revealing a sneer. "Someone wants to play hero". He pulls the woman back away from the edge and the inky black of whatever is on his body flows down his arm and around the womans body. Her eyes roll around frantically but her head doesn't move. She tries to scream but the blackness covers her mouth. With terrified eyes looking at Michael she stands up and faces him. Now everything save her eyes is covered with the blackness. "Perhaps she will give you some good practice. Show him!" The woman lunges towards Michael arms outstretched.

Heridfel Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 Kevin can't hear what's going on up there, but he can tell that it wasn't any better when the woman stopped screaming. He looked up, and saw the same fire escape that Michael had been climbing down. Unfortunately for Kevin, down is a lot easier than up. He takes a step back, then jumps up, off the wall, and grabs onto the top of the fire escape railing. He pulls himself up and over it, then begins running up. He makes it to the third floor, having gone up one more flight of steps.

Uninverted Posted January 25, 2008 Author Posted January 25, 2008 Michael watches what his opponent does, but can't make any sense of it. He charges at the villain, hoping to knock him out of the window, but it ends up fairly weak.

flashedarling Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 "Apparently someone's reach exceeds their grasp. Let me show you how it's done," laughs the black figure. Tendrils of goo whip out from his body towards Michael, attempting to pull him towards the black figure The woman also throws her head back in laughter although no sound escapes. From what you can see of her she doesn't look amused at all. She runs up to Michael and pushes him attempting to drive him further into the grapple.

Heridfel Posted January 26, 2008 Posted January 26, 2008 Kevin sees the tentacles starting to wrap around someone else on the fire escape, and he takes a deep breath. That guy had been trying to help the woman as well, he thought, so he has to give him the best chance possible to resist whatever that thing up there is. He sprints up the stairs, running as fast as he can. He's within sight of the guy now, and he reaches deep down within himself to help make him stronger, tougher... better in a fight.
