Ok am I still in melee range I want to try hitting him with a feint then attacking. If you fail a feint attack, and count as having a flat defense does autofire get added damage or does it only get it's regular bonus.

You are still in melee range. The armor that attacked you is moving towards Nightrival, but isn't there yet. You're only a five-foot step away.

If you feint against someone and they fail on their opposed roll, they lose their dodge bonus. Any further attack would take that lowered Defense into account when determining Autofire damage.
