Barnum Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 We're discussing your build now. My vote is to disallow the Duplicate power altogether. We'll see what the consensus is, and I'll let you know.

Bael Posted October 31, 2007 Author Posted October 31, 2007 Losing the duplication is not a problem. I can substitute another spell, or just eat the point.

Barnum Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 Bael, The compromise we reached was this: If you want to duplicate you can, but you have to pay full price for the power and not buy it as a part of an array. The ability to have two identical characters on the battlefield for 1 PP is just too excessive. I'm sorry it took us so long to get this to you, but . . . there you are.

Bael Posted November 1, 2007 Author Posted November 1, 2007 ROFL Well, that's interesting. The intention of the power was to be able to make a duplicate before going out of the house, leaving the duplicate behind so if I die I keep coming back; I had not even thought about bringing the dupe with me. Would you prefer that I: 1] Limit the power so it does what I want and not what you (justifiably) fear; 2] Abandon the power and spend the point elsewhere, or; 3] Abandon the power and choose another spell. Should I go out and buy the Freedom City book? More to the point, is this game going to use the sourcebook? I have plots to devise, insurrection to foment, politician's wives/husbands/mistresses to seduce and blackmail, my bride to kill, and Gildor to frame for it... I'm swamped!

Buy Regeneration 2 [Resurrection, True Resurrection] -4 PPs and then no matter how you die, you can come back the next day. But I wouldn't worry about that. Players here aren't going to die. You might end up in prison, but you won't die. Would you prefer that I: 1] Limit the power so it does what I want and not what you (justifiably) fear; 2] Abandon the power and spend the point elsewhere, or; 3] Abandon the power and choose another spell. Either 2 or 3 would work just fine. Should I go out and buy the Freedom City book? More to the point, is this game going to use the sourcebook? We are using this sourcebook, but I'm sure the Refs and GMs will want to be free to depart from it whenever helpful. So no, you don't need it. If you need info on something, post a thread in the Campaign Discussion forum and those of us with the book will tell you what you need to know. But it is a cool little book. :D

Bael Posted November 5, 2007 Author Posted November 5, 2007 OK, the only change I made was to ditch the "Duplication" spell for a "Summon Minions" spell. They will last until killed, or until they are nullified, or until you switch powers in your array. You cannot use two powers in an array at the same time. If you use other powers in your array, your minions will vanish. Also, changing the action from Standard to 1 minute is 1) a -1 Flaw (for Standard to Full-Round) + 2) It is a drawback after that. So 1 round (6 seconds) to 1 round is a 1 pt drawback. Regardless, you seem to be missing the point of all this. The Refs decided that a 1 pt. Alt Power was too little to cost to be able to duplicate yourself (i.e. add another 150 PP ally to the battlefield), and your solution to that is to try a build that allows you to add three 150 PP allies to the battlefield. I don't think it is going to fly. I know if it were entirely up to me, I'd say no.
