Shadowboxer Posted April 17, 2008 Author Posted April 17, 2008 I'm bumping this thread to ask a question: I submitted a NPC for approval about a month ago and I haven't received a reply yet. I understand the admins are very busy running things and I want to call attention to my request in case it got lost in the confusion. Should I post the NPC in the Character Bank or should I wait for a reply in my inbox? I promised two characters but I won't submit the other until my first one gets the green light. I'm weirdly methodical like that. Thanks for reading!
Barnum Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 Go ahead and send them both to me. I'll try to get them approved by tomorrow. Maybe tonight. Maybe.
Shadowboxer Posted April 18, 2008 Author Posted April 18, 2008 Awesome, thanks! I just got your reply today so I will send you my submission ASAP.
Barnum Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 Awesome, thanks! I just got your reply today so I will send you my submission ASAP. I got your PM. I'll reply to you as soon as they are done. :)
Barnum Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 I replied to you about the NPCs SB. Just wanted to make sure you got the PMs. Is there anything else you need from me?
Shadowboxer Posted April 22, 2008 Author Posted April 22, 2008 Sorry about not replying sooner. I will make the proper revisions to Madeline and your revisions to the Tailor are perfect. My only question is, what do I do now? Are these characters submitted to the NPC thread in the Character Bank? Or should I do something different? Besides my only question, that's all I have. Thanks again for taking the time to help bring these characters to life! I really appreciate it. :D
Barnum Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 Once they are like you want them, I will post them to the NPC Bank. If at any time you want to revise them, just PM me again. :)
Shadowboxer Posted April 22, 2008 Author Posted April 22, 2008 I just sent you the final draft of the two NPCs. :)
Barnum Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 I just sent you the final draft of the two NPCs. Posted. :)
Folkert Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 (from the Tailor NPC) Martial Status Married Given some of my past relationships I heartily approve, but I still wonder whether this is what was initially meant.
Barnum Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 I'm going to assume that is not what Shadowboxer meant (interesting though it may be) and swap the "i" and the "t". :D
Folkert Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 We'll probably never know ... :? And to actually contribute something to the thread: How would we go about involving those NPCs? PM Shadowboxer, or the Judges, or do something completely different ? I foresee the need for a good tailor for my PL 6 character, so I wanted to get clear on this in time.
Barnum Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 If you are just planning on a short scene with the Tailor, I wouldn't think either would be necessary in most cases.
Folkert Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 "Your costume made my butt look big." * Ka-chink * :P
Shadowboxer Posted April 25, 2008 Author Posted April 25, 2008 If you witnessed a spat between Koppel and his wife, I suppose "martial" would be an appropriate adjective. And yes, anyone and everyone is welcome to use these characters. I thought I should add that.
Barnum Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 For the record, anyone can create a "restricted" NPC that requires special permission for anyone to include in a story. Just PM us the details, and we'll sort it out.
Folkert Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 Another question: Would it be possible to use the optional "Max Save DC Modifier" of +6 rule from "Agents of Freedom" for a PL 3 agent for an NPC ? Explanation: This gives low-PL agents a higher "Max Save DC Modifier" for effects resulting from equipment and devices so that they could actually use some of the equipment weapons as presented. Reason: I've been looking at introducing a Police Officer (probably PL 3) - if I gave her a heavy pistol, she would be limited to an attack +2 (!), not to mention that she would somehow be unable to ever use the shotgun kept in the trunk of the patrol car at all.
Barnum Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 I think it would be fine to go with the Police stats in the Freedom City core book (+3 Attack, +3 Damage) or more if appropriate. If she is just a NPC you plan to include in a story, I doubt that the stats will ever come into play anyway.
Folkert Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 But the tailor gets stats? Quite clearly a case of NPC discrimination!!! The thing that irks me about using a light pistol is that most to all police service weapons I know of definitely fall into the heavy pistol category. (Unless she were painclothes cop with the need for a concealed weapon, but we are talking patrol officer.) Heck, even Bond moved up from Light to Heavy Pistol. :D
Barnum Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 But the tailor gets stats? Quite clearly a case of NPC discrimination!!! Quite the contrary. I told Shadowboxer the same thing. Next time I'll CC you when I PM other players.
Shadowboxer Posted April 26, 2008 Author Posted April 26, 2008 What can I say? I love stats. They're stat-tastic. :D
