Gizmo Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 Jack: Initiative. (1d20+9=10) Jill: Initiative. (1d20+4=11) Sooo bad...
trollthumper Posted March 28, 2011 Author Posted March 28, 2011 All right. Here we go... Nick Cimitiere: 23, Unharmed, 2 HP Warriors (6 Minions): 23, Unharmed, 0 HP Warlock: 17, Unharmed, 3 HP Xipe Totec: 12, Unharmed, 0 HP Jill O'Cure: 11, Unharmed, 0 HP Jack of All Blades: 10, Unharmed, 5 HP Equinox: 10, Unharmed, 3 HP Okay, so, Nick's going to try to clear the room with a Banshee Wail. Xipe himself is Fearless, so that doesn't work, which means it hits the Warriors. It's a DC19 Will save... and they all fail it. Three are Shaken, and three go running. The three who are merely Shaken attack, two on Nick, one on Jill. And they all miss. Warlock is up next.
Lone Star Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Warlock uses his lightning wand! DC 19 Reflex to dodge the attack, and DC 24 Toughness if it connects. In addition, he burns a Hero Point to make the damage Penetrating.
trollthumper Posted March 30, 2011 Author Posted March 30, 2011 All right. As Penetrating is an Extra rather than a Power Feat, how many points of the Strike power do you wish to burn for Penetrating ranks? You could drop it down to Strike 8 with all the Extras and get 3 ranks, down to 7 and get 6 ranks... or, you could pick up a Flaw and buy it all the way up to 9. Which I'd recommend with Action [Full Round], just in case.
Lone Star Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 I'm going to drop the Selective Extra, pick up Penetrating, and add the Full-Round Action flaw. So it'll be full-ranks, with the Line Extra, as a Full Round.
trollthumper Posted March 30, 2011 Author Posted March 30, 2011 And the Aztec god rolls a 16 in the face of the lightning bolt. This would normally Stun him but since he's a god and this is the first round of combat, I'm declaring fiat. The Bruise stands, the Stun does not, and everyone takes an HP. Nick Cimitiere: 23, Unharmed, 3 HP Warriors (3 Minions): 23, Unharmed, Shaken, 0 HP Warlock: 17, Unharmed, 3 HP Xipe Totec: 12, Bruised x1, 0 HP Jill O'Cure: 11, Unharmed, 0 HP Jack of All Blades: 10, Unharmed, 6 HP Equinox: 10, Unharmed, 4 HP Xipe Totec responds by cutting himself (of course he does) and scattering the blood all over, resulting in an Area Burst Plant Control attack. Everyone make two DC25 Reflex saves -- one to halve the Rank 15 power, and one to avoid the Snare. Nick fails the first roll, and gets Entangled on the second. Jill O'Cure is up next.
Gizmo Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Jack of all Blades - Reflex Saves. (1d20+15=22, 1d20+15=30) Jill O'Cure - Reflex Saves. (1d20+10=30, 1d20+10=18) That should keep them both free, one way or another! Jill O'Cure Free Action: Sustain barrier around the security guard and the alter thing-a-mabob. Standard Action: Auto-DC 30 Taunt w/ Skill Mastery vs. Xipe Totec. Jack of all Blades Move Action: Auto-DC 36 Feint w/ Fast Talk and Skill Mastery vs. Xipe Totec. Standard Action: Energy Sword Flurry; Power Attack 5. (1d20+15=16) HP: Energy Sword Flurry; Power Attack 5; HP reroll. (1d20+15=19) So that's 29, instead, and a DC 30 + Autofire Toughness save.
trollthumper Posted March 31, 2011 Author Posted March 31, 2011 All right, then. Xipe Totec is successfully Demoralized, falls for the Feint, and gets Stunned. Nick Cimitiere: 23, Unharmed, 3 HP Warriors (3 Minions): 23, Unharmed, Shaken, 0 HP Warlock: 17, Unharmed, 3 HP Xipe Totec: 12, Bruised x2, Stunned, Demoralized, 0 HP Jill O'Cure: 11, Unharmed, 0 HP Jack of All Blades: 10, Unharmed, 6 HP Equinox: 10, Unharmed, 4 HP Equinox is up next.
trollthumper Posted April 11, 2011 Author Posted April 11, 2011 And as Ecal has taken a break and said he's okay with people NPCing his characters, I'll be assuming control of Equinox. Let's see how she does with Xipe's Snare. She fails the save to halve, and is Bound on the second. Yikes. There's only one thing to do in a case like that -- TK! She can't exactly use her wand, due to being Bound, but at least the spell works by will, so I'm allowing it to be used even though she's Helpless. A 35 on her Opposed Grapple... versus Xipe's 27. So the deity is Helpless as well. Nick Cimitiere: 23, Unharmed, Entangled, 3 HP Warriors (3 Minions): 23, Unharmed, Shaken, 0 HP Warlock: 17, Unharmed, 3 HP Xipe Totec: 12, Bruised x2, Stunned, Demoralized, Bound, 0 HP Jill O'Cure: 11, Unharmed, 0 HP Jack of All Blades: 10, Unharmed, 6 HP Equinox: 10, Unharmed, Bound, 4 HP So now it's Nick's turn. Nick is going to use Ereshkigal's Talons to cut at his bonds. The Snare gets cut, not enough to be disabled, sadly. So now it's the Warriors' turns, and they strike at Nick and Equinox. Nick's got Impervious, so he takes the blows from the two, but Equinox does not have such a thing. So, DC21 for her. Which she just misses. Nick Cimitiere: 23, Unharmed, Entangled, 3 HP Warriors (3 Minions): 23, Unharmed, Shaken, 0 HP Warlock: 17, Unharmed, 3 HP Xipe Totec: 12, Bruised x2, Stunned, Demoralized, Bound, 0 HP Jill O'Cure: 11, Unharmed, 0 HP Jack of All Blades: 10, Unharmed, 6 HP Equinox: 10, Bruised x1, Bound, 4 HP Warlock is up next.
Lone Star Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Sorry I've been absent from this thread. Since Xipe is Bound, can Warlock perform a Coup de Grace?
trollthumper Posted April 16, 2011 Author Posted April 16, 2011 All right, folks; in the name of greater transparency, and because I was hazy on the necessity of this, I should disclose I've been running this thread with unapproved NPCs. I've sent the templates up to the refs, but we have a choice: -Hold off until the approvals go through. -Play forward, knowing that we're in a thread with unapproved NPCs. What do you guys want to do?
trollthumper Posted April 30, 2011 Author Posted April 30, 2011 Well, we're back up and running! Ecal's back, LS is back, and Xipe Totec's been approved! Under new parameters, mind you... Lone Star Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Coup de Grace! That's an critical, so DC 29 Toughness.
trollthumper Posted May 2, 2011 Author Posted May 2, 2011 All right, Xipe Totec makes a 16 on his Toughness save, meaning he's now Staggered. Let's see how he does on that DC 24 Fort save... Um. So, yeah. Xipe Totec is down. Combat's over.
