trollthumper Posted April 14, 2011 Author Posted April 14, 2011 Hmm. Given that Sil and Haru both have the same modifiers for their respective rolls, and the same ability modifiers... tie goes to Sil. Silhouette: 27, Unharmed, 2 HP Push: 23, Bruised x2, Staggered, 0 HP Haru: 19, Unharmed, 0 HP Ninjas (59 Minions): 19, Unharmed, 0 HP Cannonade: 18, Bruised x1, 1 HP Silver Whisper: 17, Bruised x1, 0 HP Wail: 6, Unharmed, 2 HP Silhouette is up first.
Aoiroo Posted April 14, 2011 Posted April 14, 2011 For the surprise round, disarm attempt by Sil on Haru, 26.
trollthumper Posted April 14, 2011 Author Posted April 14, 2011 Well, close, but his katana still goes flying. Silhouette: 27, Unharmed, 2 HP Push: 23, Bruised x2, Staggered, 0 HP Haru: 19, Unharmed, 0 HP Ninjas (59 Minions): 19, Unharmed, 0 HP Cannonade: 18, Bruised x1, 1 HP Silver Whisper: 17, Bruised x1, 0 HP Wail: 6, Unharmed, 2 HP Push is up next.
Quinn Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 Fifty ninjas? Well, that won't do... Power Stunt from Kinetic Control Array, Push goes Fatigued. Homing Blast Redux! AP: Strike 13 (Kinetic Homing Blasts; Extras: Area [Targeted, 65-ft. Burst], Penetrating 2, Selective, Flaws: Distracting) [26/26PP] Same math as before: Take 10 to hit. Base Ranged Attack with Goggles is +9. Adding All Out Attack, +5 to Hit, final count 24 to hit. Add Power Attack to that for -5 Attack, +5 Damage. 19 to hit. Targeted Strike, increased by Power Attack, that's a DC32 Toughness save for all the ninjas within the 55-foot area. Heroes are not included in the area, and I'll assume Haru will be out of that area as well.
trollthumper Posted April 15, 2011 Author Posted April 15, 2011 Well. There go the ninjas. And Haru gets one-shotted... except that would be stupid. FIAT! He takes a Bruise, but that's it. Silhouette: 27, Unharmed, 3 HP Push: 23, Bruised x2, Staggered, 1 HP Haru: 19, Bruised x1, 0 HP Cannonade: 18, Bruised x1, 2 HP Silver Whisper: 17, Bruised x1, 0 HP Wail: 6, Unharmed, 3 HP Now comes Haru's turn. He blends into the nearby shadows (Invisibility, Free Action) and shapes the shadows around him into blades, unleashing an Area Attack. DC27 Reflex and Toughness saves, everyone. Cannonade cannot possibly make that Reflex save, and does not make Toughness save. Hero Point! Yeah, that works a lot better. Silver Whisper, meanwhile, does not make the Reflex save, but also has Evasion 2, so she makes her Toughness save. Silhouette: 27, Unharmed, 3 HP Push: 23, Bruised x2, Staggered, 1 HP Haru: 19, Bruised x1, 0 HP Cannonade: 18, Bruised x1, 1 HP Silver Whisper: 17, Bruised x1, 0 HP Wail: 6, Unharmed, 3 HP Cannonade responds to the attack by unleashing a Shockwave into the darkness. Haru does not make his Reflex save, oddly enough. And then he takes a Bruise, as he has Evasion 2 and thus halves the rank anyway. Silhouette: 27, Unharmed, 3 HP Push: 23, Bruised x2, Staggered, 1 HP Haru: 19, Bruised x2, 0 HP Cannonade: 18, Bruised x1, 1 HP Silver Whisper: 17, Bruised x1, 0 HP Wail: 6, Unharmed, 3 HP Silver Whisper strikes next, likewise turning invisible, moving into the shadows and swinging at the sound of Haru's voice. She makes the attack roll, but Haru makes the Concealment roll. Wail is up next.
Quinn Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 DC 27 Reflex save (1d20+8=16) Bugger. DC 27 Toughness save (1d20+10=18) Bruised and Stunned. Could be worse.
Aoiroo Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 Reflex save, 26, darn, close, ohh well it's still half damage to Sil in her alternate form since she has two ranks of evasion, which halves the damage, so toughness roll, 15, so Sil's alright.
trollthumper Posted April 15, 2011 Author Posted April 15, 2011 No, Roo, it halves the effective rank of the attack. Which means the attack has Rank 6 instead of 12, which means it's DC21, which means Sil is Stunned and Bruised.
Gizmo Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 Wail Reflex Save vs. DC 27. (1d20+5=8) Toughness Save vs. DC 27. (1d20+12=22) Bruised and Stunned! Hero Point: Clear Stunned condition. Move Action: Get in position. Standard Action: Sonic Scream.Damage 12 (Extras: Area [General, Cone, 120ft], Linked [stun]) [24PP] + Stun 9 (Extras: Area [General, Cone], Linked [Damage]) [27PP] (Sonic Scream) [51PP] That's a General Area Cone attack with a DC 27 Toughness Save and a DC 19 Fort Save.
trollthumper Posted April 15, 2011 Author Posted April 15, 2011 All right, Haru fails to make the Ref save on the Damage, but makes it on the Stun. With Evasion 2, he still brings the Toughness down to DC21... but that doesn't matter much, when he's Stunned. As for Silver Whisper, she makes the Ref save on Damage, but not on Stun. But with Evasion 2, that takes it down to DC15 Fort, which she makes. Silhouette: 27, Bruised x1, 2 HP Push: 23, Bruised x3, Stunned (Haru's Action), Staggered, 1 HP Haru: 19, Bruised x3, Stunned (Wail's Action), 0 HP Cannonade: 18, Bruised x1, 1 HP Silver Whisper: 17, Bruised x1, 0 HP Wail: 6, Bruised x1, 2 HP Top of the round. Just a reminder, as Wail demonstrated, HPs can be spent to clear Stunned.
Aoiroo Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 So, concealment doesn't work on Sil, so 21 attack, if hits, it's DC 24.
trollthumper Posted April 15, 2011 Author Posted April 15, 2011 And he takes another hit as his Stun refreshes. Silhouette: 27, Bruised x1, 2 HP Push: 23, Bruised x3, Stunned (Haru's Action), Staggered, 1 HP Haru: 19, Bruised x4, Stunned (Silhouette's Action), 0 HP Cannonade: 18, Bruised x1, 1 HP Silver Whisper: 17, Bruised x1, 0 HP Wail: 6, Bruised x1, 2 HP Push is up next.
trollthumper Posted April 16, 2011 Author Posted April 16, 2011 All right, folks; in the name of greater transparency, and because I was hazy on the necessity of this, I should disclose I've been running this thread with unapproved NPCs. I've sent the templates up to the refs, but we have a choice: -Hold off until the approvals go through. -Play forward, knowing that we're in a thread with unapproved NPCs. What do you guys want to do?
Aoiroo Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 I think since we're almost done, it's not that much of an issue so we can just finish.
Quinn Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 I'd wait a day or two, see what the refs say, myself. But I'll pretty much go with whatever the group decides. :P
trollthumper Posted April 22, 2011 Author Posted April 22, 2011 Okay, Dr Archeville's signed off on the math for Haru. In the interest of transparency... Haru Ikenami PL13 PP: 222 Trade-offs: +1 DEF/-1 TOU Attributes: 8 + 10 + 8 + 4 + 8 + 2 = 40 PP STR 18 (+4) DEX 20 (+5) CON 18 (+4) INT 14 (+2) WIS 18 (+4) CHA 12 (+1) Combat: 16 + 16 = 32 PP Initiative: +9 (+5 DEX, +4 Improved Initiative) Attack: +8 (+13 Melee) Grapple: +17 Defense: +8 (+14 Dodge Bonus), +4 Flat-Footed Knockback: -10 Saving Throws: 4 + 12 + 6 = 22 PP Toughness: +12/+4 (+8 Protection, +4 CON) Fortitude: +8 (+4 CON, +4) Reflex: +17 (+5 DEX, +12) Will: +10 (+4 WIS, +6) Skills: 120r = 30 PP Acrobatics 10 (+15) Climb 8 (+12) Diplomacy 8 (+9) Disable Device 8 (+10) Disguise 8 (+9) Escape Artist 10 (+15) Intimidate 9 (+10) Knowledge (arcane lore) 10 (+12) Knowledge (current events) 4 (+6) Knowledge (streetwise) 4 (+6) Knowledge (theology and philosophy) 10 (+12) Language (Japanese [Native], Mandarin, English, Korean) Notice 10 (+14) Sense Motive 8 (+12) Stealth 10 (+15) Feats: 26 PP Accurate Attack Acrobatic Bluff Attack Focus (Melee) 5 Blind-Fight Contacts Dodge Focus 6 Elusive Target Evasion 2 Hide in Plain Sight Improved Initiative Instant Up Move-By Action Power Attack Redirect Ritualist Sneak Attack Powers: 4 + 25 + 30 + 1 + 16 = 76 PP Concealment 2 (visual senses) [4 PP] Duplication 11 (Power Feats: Progression 4, Mental Link) (Duplicates use Kung-Fu Killer template, M&M pg. 217) [27 PP] Darkness Control 13 (Feats: Alternate Power 4) [30 PP] AP: Fatigue 13 (Extras: Area Burst, Alternate Save (Will); Flaws: Action [Full-Round]) [26 PP] AP: Strike 13 (Extras: Area Burst, Selective; Flaws: Action [Full-Round]) [26 PP] AP: Snare 13 (Extras: Area Burst) AP: ESP 8 (all senses) (Flaws: Medium (shadows)) [24 PP] Immunity (aging) [1 PP] Protection 8 (Extras: Impervious 8) [16 PP] Drawbacks: Weakness (concentrated light) (Moderate, cumulative -1 to all checks, attack rolls and Defense, 1/round) [4 PP] Attributes (40) + Combat (32) + Saves (22) + Skills (30) + Feats (26) + Powers (76) – Drawbacks (4) = 222 PP As for the "million zillion ninja" that have shown up thus far, we'll say that Amatsu-Mikaboshi was using auspicious circumstances to funnel some support in the form of manpower to Haru. Now, though, he's on his own. Push is up next.
Quinn Posted April 23, 2011 Posted April 23, 2011 Aww, no more ninja to pummel? Too bad. Anyway, as a wise man once said, let there be light! Push HPs out of the Stun, and EEs a Flashbang Grenade off of his equipment (with the explanation that he swiped an experimental one off of his workbench back at HQ). Visual Dazzle Burst 4, effect radius 20 feet from below where Push is floating. Note that Haru, Silver Whisper, and Silhouette will NOT be in the blast radius, but the light'll fill the entire place and (hopefully) rather unceremoniously dump him out of his hidey-hole long enough for you boys to make with ze pummeling.
trollthumper Posted April 23, 2011 Author Posted April 23, 2011 All right. The blast will definitely catch Haru, inflicting the first stage of his Weakness and ripping away his shadows. If his Concealment wasn't already dropped, it sure as hell is now. Silhouette: 27, Bruised x1, 2 HP Push: 23, Bruised x3, Staggered, 0 HP Haru: 19, Bruised x4, Stunned (Silhouette's Action), -1 to All Checks, Attack Rolls, and Defense, 0 HP Cannonade: 18, Bruised x1, 1 HP Silver Whisper: 17, Bruised x1, 0 HP Wail: 6, Bruised x1, 2 HP Next up is Cannonade who decides to take advantage of Haru's sudden exposure to say hello. And by "say hello," I mean "punch him in the goolies." And seeing as Haru's Defense is currently in the toilet, that most certainly hits. Haru needs to make a DC24 Toughness save... and takes another Bruise. Silhouette: 27, Bruised x1, 2 HP Push: 23, Bruised x3, Staggered, 0 HP Haru: 19, Bruised x5, Stunned (Silhouette's Action), -1 to All Checks, Attack Rolls, and Defense, 0 HP Cannonade: 18, Bruised x1, 1 HP Silver Whisper: 17, Bruised x1, 0 HP Wail: 6, Bruised x1, 2 HP Silver Whisper then decides to user her Illusion to basically create a bright, shining moon beam, which will keep magnifying Haru's Weakness next round... if he's still up next round, at this rate. Wail is up next.
Gizmo Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Wail Standard Action: Sonic Wail, All-Out Attack 5, Power Attack 5 is 1d20+7. Invisible Castle is down, so...(21:37:08) ChatBot: Gizmo rolls 1d20 and gets 14. That's a 21 total, for a DC 37 Toughness Save (and as much Knockback as you feel is dramatically appropriate, troll.)
trollthumper Posted April 25, 2011 Author Posted April 25, 2011 (18:39:58) Gizmo: Wail Power Attacked. Yeah. (18:40:47) Gizmo: He can Surge if he needs to, I guess, but I doubt it. (18:41:14) trollthumper: Yeah, I kinda doubt it, too. (18:41:17) ChatBot: trollthumper rolls 1d20 and gets 7. (18:41:23) trollthumper: ...yeah, he dead. Yup, Haru is effectively down. Combat is pretty much over.
trollthumper Posted April 25, 2011 Author Posted April 25, 2011 Okay, so maybe it's not entirely over. But this is pretty much narrative stuff at this point. Everyone feel free to get it one lick on the August Star of Heaven.
