trollthumper Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 Nick Cimitiere, Wander, Jack of All Blades, Harrier and Gabriel deal with a haunted movie house. Spooky!
trollthumper Posted April 20, 2011 Author Posted April 20, 2011 And so does the weirdness begin. Feel free to include your own incidents of understated wrongness in the halls of the Victorian.
KnightDisciple Posted April 22, 2011 Posted April 22, 2011 Gabriel's gonna move up there and use Emotion Control to instill Calm in the guy. Will Save DC 22.
trollthumper Posted April 22, 2011 Author Posted April 22, 2011 All right, Notice checks for all. Nick gets a 31, so he's gonna see whatever he sees... but I'm a little tired of Nick being the person who sees everything in this thread, so I'm going to say he doesn't make the check. And I won't be taking a Hero Point for it, either.
Gizmo Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 Notice check. (1d20+10=11) Yuck! He'll blow an HP to reroll, since his senses might actually be useful here. Notice check, HP reroll. (1d20+10=26)
trollthumper Posted April 24, 2011 Author Posted April 24, 2011 All right. Here's what Jack senses... The entropic energy that's been lying low in the background just flared, somewhere in the theater you're standing in. Seems like it's down near the screen... Here's what Wander senses... Where before the theater seemed empty, there is now someone sitting in a seat in the front row. They are not giving off a heat signature. And here's what Caradoc senses... You can see clearly in this theater, and you've been scanning it regularly since you entered... and you could've sworn, in the second before you looked down to the front row, that it was absolutely empty. But now someone's sitting there...
trollthumper Posted April 24, 2011 Author Posted April 24, 2011 Yeah, I'd say that counts as a cause for combat. First off, we'll be using AA's Death build to reflect the Terminus entity. With a few changes: -All powers and saves have been shifted to reflect a PL15 cap. So its Death Array now has powers at Rank 15, its Toughness is now +15 (+12 of which is Protection), its exotic saves are now at +12, its attack is now +9 (+15 Melee), and its Defense is now +15 (+4 flat-footed). -Insubstantial 4 has been stripped out and replaced with an additional Immunity (trait effects) 5. If Harrier wishes to open fire before Initiative begins -- and he's certainly in the position to do so -- he can make an attack roll for a surprise round. Otherwise, now is a good time for Initiative rolls. The Terminus entity goes on 21. Nick goes on 19.
KnightDisciple Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 Sounds fine to me. Initiative: 8. Guess I can go last. :?
Avenger Assembled Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 The first shot misses... But what better time for an HP? Which also misses (Since the creature's total Defense is at +15, rather than its to-hit number being 15) Ah well. 26 for Init
Gizmo Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 Initiative. (1d20+9=23) So that'll be right after Wander.
trollthumper Posted April 24, 2011 Author Posted April 24, 2011 All right, here's where we stand: Harrier: 26, Unharmed, 2 HP Wander: 23, Unharmed, 5 HP Jack of All Blades: 23, Unharmed, 5 HP Terminus Entity: 21, Unharmed, 0 HP Nick Cimitiere: 19, Unharmed, 2 HP Gabriel: 8, Unharmed, 5 HP Harrier is up first.
Avenger Assembled Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 Harrier is going to land and make a melee attack with his staff. it hits, woo-hoo! That's a DC 28 TOU save for the Terminus Creature. That's not enough to trigger the Autofire on Harrier's strike, but he should be able to at least force a save. Let me know how that goes.
trollthumper Posted April 24, 2011 Author Posted April 24, 2011 It goes rather well, as the entity takes a Bruise and is Stunned. Harrier: 26, Unharmed, 2 HP Wander: 23, Unharmed, 5 HP Jack of All Blades: 23, Unharmed, 5 HP Terminus Entity: 21, Bruised x1, Stunned (Harrier's Action), 0 HP Nick Cimitiere: 19, Unharmed, 2 HP Gabriel: 8, Unharmed, 5 HP Wander is up next.
Electra Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Wander will forgo her typical acrobatic bluff here since the thing is already flat-footed, and merely power attack instead. (21:01:31) Fox: 500 - Internal Server Error (21:02:11) trollthumper: Nope. (21:02:17) trollthumper: Oh. Invisible Castle. (21:02:26) trollthumper: Yuuuuup. (21:03:01) Cubist: Cow Tails: Manufactured by the Goetzke company, if memory serves? (21:03:27) ChatBot: Electra rolls 1d20 and gets 18. (21:03:27) Azuth65: Yep. I love these things. (21:03:35) Electra: Sweet! 18+20=28 total on the attack. Improved critical! Given the ghost's low defense DC, that should max out her Autofire, so base DC 30 + 5+5+5 = DC 45 Toughness Save.
trollthumper Posted April 25, 2011 Author Posted April 25, 2011 To follow Electra's lead. (18:09:14) trollthumper: Hoo boy. (18:09:19) trollthumper readies the fiat. (18:09:44) KnightDisciple: it is kinda early in the fight to turn the baddie into Termigoo (18:10:38) ChatBot: trollthumper rolls 1d6 and gets 5. (18:10:42) trollthumper: Whoops. (18:10:52) Electra: Between this and the trip to Anti-Earth, Erin is tired of evil using her dead sister to torture her! (18:10:59) ChatBot: trollthumper rolls 1d20 and gets 12. (18:11:04) AvengerAssembled: Hee hee, it failed the save by 40! (18:11:19) trollthumper: Hmm. That's effectively a D26, which would mean this bitch is toast. (18:11:30) trollthumper: *DC26. Fortunately, that's why the gods gave us Fiat. I must honor the blow in some way, of course, which is why the Terminus Entity is now at Bruised x3 instead of Bruised x1. Wander takes a Hero Point for the setback. Harrier: 26, Unharmed, 2 HP Wander: 23, Unharmed, 6 HP Jack of All Blades: 23, Unharmed, 5 HP Terminus Entity: 21, Bruised x1, Stunned (Harrier's Action), 0 HP Nick Cimitiere: 19, Unharmed, 2 HP Gabriel: 8, Unharmed, 5 HP Jack is up next.
Gizmo Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Jack of all Blades Move Action: Auto-DC 31 Taunt vs. Terminus Entity w/ Skill Mastery Standard Action: Energy Sword, Power Attack 5. 1d20+15(23:24:17) ChatBot: Gizmo rolls 1d20 and gets 4.Pfft. Should still hit, though. That's a DC 22 Fort Save vs. Drain Toughness and a DC 30 Toughness Save vs. Damage.
trollthumper Posted April 25, 2011 Author Posted April 25, 2011 Taunt results: (20:30:49) ChatBot: trollthumper rolls 1d20 and gets 5. Plus the +15 on Sense Motive... is still a 20, meaning it's Demoralized. Well, given the Immunity (trait effects), the Drain won't work. The Damage, however... (20:27:49) ChatBot: trollthumper rolls 1d20 and gets 8. (20:28:03) trollthumper: Yeah, it's Staggered. So, yeah. Harrier: 26, Unharmed, 2 HP Wander: 23, Unharmed, 6 HP Jack of All Blades: 23, Unharmed, 5 HP Terminus Entity: 21, Bruised x4, Stunned (Jack's Action), Staggered, 0 HP Nick Cimitiere: 19, Unharmed, 2 HP Gabriel: 8, Unharmed, 5 HP It's now the Terminus Entity's action, so, another Fiat goes off as it shakes off its Stunned condition. It reaches out and uses its Strike on Wander. (20:33:45) ChatBot: trollthumper rolls 1d20 and gets 7. ...or perhaps it doesn't. CHATBOOOOT! Harrier: 26, Unharmed, 3 HP Wander: 23, Unharmed, 7 HP Jack of All Blades: 23, Unharmed, 6 HP Terminus Entity: 21, Bruised x4, Stunned (Jack's Action), Staggered, 0 HP Nick Cimitiere: 19, Unharmed, 3 HP Gabriel: 8, Unharmed, 6 HP So now it's Nick's turn. He's going to unleash Ignis Fatuus, his Ranged attack on this thing. And hey, if it misses, it might just hit next turn (assuming the Entity's still up next turn). (20:35:49) ChatBot: trollthumper rolls 1d20 and gets 3. ...seriously, what the hell. (20:37:17) trollthumper: I think I'll spend a Hero Point. (20:37:19) ChatBot: trollthumper rolls 1d20 and gets 14. Yeah, that at least hits. The Terminus Entity needs to make a DC22 Will save. (20:38:09) ChatBot: trollthumper rolls 1d20 and gets 10. And it has a +12 to Will saves, which means it meets the DC... except for that little Demoralized. Ping! Harrier: 26, Unharmed, 3 HP Wander: 23, Unharmed, 7 HP Jack of All Blades: 23, Unharmed, 6 HP Terminus Entity: 21, Bruised x5, Stunned (Jack's Action), Staggered, 0 HP Nick Cimitiere: 19, Unharmed, 2 HP Gabriel: 8, Unharmed, 6 HP Gabriel is up next.
KnightDisciple Posted April 25, 2011 Posted April 25, 2011 Okay then. Gabriel's gonna shoot it with my Blast. Which I had stored up. (22:52:06) ChatBot: KnightDisciple rolls 1d20 and gets 17. So, that'll be a 29 to hit. Pretty sure we're good there. DC 27 Toughness Save.
trollthumper Posted April 25, 2011 Author Posted April 25, 2011 (21:00:54) ChatBot: trollthumper rolls 1d20 and gets 10. It's currently got an effective Toughness of +8, which means it makes an 18 against the 27, just barely missing a knockout. Harrier: 26, Unharmed, 3 HP Wander: 23, Unharmed, 7 HP Jack of All Blades: 23, Unharmed, 6 HP Terminus Entity: 21, Bruised x6, Stunned (Gabriel's Action), Staggered, 0 HP Nick Cimitiere: 19, Unharmed, 2 HP Gabriel: 8, Unharmed, 6 HP We're back at the top of the round, and Harrier is up next.
