"Man, this a pretty crazy gig," he whispers to the student. "Whatta ya think of the mad scientist?"

The student laughs a little - you can tell he's a little nervous. he's a big guy, and stands with his arms crossed, hands doling his biceps. He speaks with a thick, Southside accent, "Gee, I dunno. Seems pretty full on. Still, it's great for the school. Hopefully we can get some more kids onto the mats, you know? Learning thr ropes. As for Myrty? He's a strange one, no foolin'."

“HIT actually has a football team?†Megan asked with a teasing smile.

Will laughed with Megan's teasing, knowing full well what reputation his team had.

“Sure that sounds interesting, as long as you promise to tell my more about your display afterward.†She replied, as she took his hand.

His eye's widened with sincere surpirse at Megan's offer, "Uh, yeah. Sure, of course." His unease disappearing, "I'd love to." With that, he finds a path for Megan and himself through the crowd toward the stage on the right. When they reach the spot, Megan's friend Janet, who is falling asleep with the other students watching the left stage, catches her eye and mouths the words, "Who's that?", indicating Will. She gives Megan an very approving look.

It seems the presentation on the left stage has finished up, as people there are beginning to disperse. On the right stage however, Professor Myrtleton has reached the podium to a good amount of applause. He holds his hands up to silence the onlookers and fumbles through his notes. It's a full minute before he's organised enough to turn to the audience and begin, "Good morning, attendees. My name is Professor Myrtleton. It's uh, it's a pleasure to be here..." His nose rubbing habit continues as he bumbles through a brief review of his extensive career to date. All that finishes, however, when he comes to what he's there to present today. He turns briefly to the robots standing behind him, and then solemnly back to the audience, "What is a person made of?" His voice has lost it's waver and his hands remain fixed on the podium, "What is a person really capable of? What could we do if each one of us recognised our own potential? We live in a world where..." He is cut short, however, by a squealing over the PA system. The noise subsides, and a voice booms over the crowd. A voice that Megan finds familiar, "The problem is, when you're nothing but plebs, you're not really capable of much." The comment is followed by an od sound. It sounds like laughing, but from someone standing away from whatever is projecting the sound. Whoever is laughing is chastised by the person projecting the voice, but they fail (or don't bother) to hide their voice, "Shut up, John!" The laughing ceases, and the voice returns in full to the PS speakers, "Behold! The real future. Look on and see, not only your intellectual superiors, but also your new rulers!" Suddenly, there is a large amount of theatrical smoke appearing from the left stage, obscuring it. The crowd has gone from interested, to nervous, to scared. Now that the smoke has begun, there are a few feaful screams and gasps escaping an increasingly threatened audience.

Megan smiled back to Janet as the other girl noticed Will. But she was not able to do much else before the presentation began at the state Will had taken her to. The blonde teen focuses up on the stage, wanting to pay attention to whatever it was that Will had been so interested in.

Things were not starting out all that well, this professor Mytle or whatever seemed to want to just drone on. But then there was the voices over the PA system that cut in, causing her to look around, wondering why the voice sounded familiar. The use of the word “pleb†made her wonder if it was those idiots from FCU. When the smoke started appearing at the left stage, she started looking around, trying to see if she could see what was going on and if there might be a way for her to duck out if she needed to.

"I hear that, man. I guess these science types turn a little odd cookin' up stuff in those labs all day."

On the right stage however, Professor Myrtleton has reached the podium to a good amount of applause. He holds his hands up to silence the onlookers and fumbles through his notes. It's a full minute before he's organised enough to turn to the audience and begins . . .

Although Liam fights to stay awake during Prof. Myrtleton's speech, he snaps awake when the voice suddenly changes over the loudspeaker. He wheels around to face the neigbouring stage when he sees the smoke enveloping it. A fire? he wonders. No, that's just the stuff they use at rock concerts. Thinking that someone is attempting to upstage Myrtleton's presentation, Liam is frustrated that the school might lose an opportunity to showcase itself to potential students.

Until he hears the frightened sounds from the audience.

That's real fear I'm hearin'. Liam inches towards the edge of the stage where his duffel bag is lying. He stands beside it as he watches the scene unfold over at the next stage.

After a few moments, the smoke begins to clear, dispersing throughout the room. Standing in the stage are three humanoid forms. They each stand just under six feet tall, and although the faces are obscured, it's easy to see that it's three people (probably males), wearing some kind of sparse exo-skeleton. For a couple of seconds, the three stand stoic and fearsome, but the mood is broken when the figure standing behind the most forward form coughs unsteadily on the disappearing smoke. The one ahead of him turns and glares before returning back to the auditorium. He speaks, his voice booming across the space before him"This is the beginning, peons. We are the top of the food chain. In a world where physical strength means less and less, those who are mentally superior will stand supreme!" It's at this point that an events organiser, who had been standing near the front of stage, decided to put an end to, what he thought, was a little prank. He walks up onto stage, his hand out, ready to guide the three back to ground floor. Before he can get to them, however, the figure who had coughed turns to him. A piston like device on his wrist (something unique to his suit) rotates before ejecting a slimy green goo, which hits the organiser, stopping him dead. He struggles to move but quickly realises that it would be impossible. The leader of the group doesn't flinch for an instant, "Defy us and die." He walks over to the organiser and puts his lightly armoured arm around his shoulders, "You may live, only because you didn't know better. Now you get to be the example." With that, he puts his hand to the man's neck. There is a flash of light and the man falls to the ground - he ceases to move. The leader moves back to the centre of the stage, "For the rest of you, there is no excuse. You will take off anything of value and drop it here, in front of the stage, as an offering to your new rulers. If you try to flee, or try to contact anyone from the outside, we will know, and you will be punished. Once we're done with the offerings of wealth, we'll see if there is anything of scientific merit we might deign to look upon. Though I doubt it. From the look of what's here, that'd be like offering a camo suit to a Romulan Bird Of Prey." The two lackeys behind the leader snicker at this comment. "Still, even the inferior Federation had something to offer..."

The crowd had been remarkably silent throughout, although there were many screams when the organiser was silenced. Since then, an eerie quiet has permeated the crowd; but there is a very tangible fear in the air, like a herd of oxen collected together, not knowing where a pack of lions would strike from next.

No. No. No! Megan thought as the smoke began clearing to revel three figures in some sort of knockoff power armor. Things had just been getting interesting and now some morons had to show up and ruin it all.

But she wasted no time on dwelling on the situation. As soon as the three figures appeared, she stepped back slightly away from Will, glancing around to make sure everyone’s attention was focused on the stage and the figures. The she was gone, moving far fast than most could hope to see. Rushing out of the room, she speed off to one of the women’s restrooms, and after checking to be sure it was empty, she was changed into her Velocity costume from her backpack in a blink of an eye.

Liam grinds his teeth when the organiser drops to the ground.

Oh, it is so on.

Slowly, he reaches for his bag. He examines the crowd, and notices that everyone is paying attention to the debacle on stage or whispering among themselves. Liam eases the tension in his legs and begins to slide away from the other students standing on the stage with him. Every step is carefully measured, gingerly placing each foot behind the other at such an excruciatingly gradual rate it would look as though Liam is floating rather than walking. He gets behind the stage and picks up his pace slightly, passing the other onlookers until he arrives at a men's washroom.

He swears he heard someone running into the women's washroom, but he only felt a gust of wind rush past him. He shrugs his shoulders and slips behind the washroom doors. Lucikly, no one is inside. He finds an empty stall and quickly changes into his costume. Stashing his street clothes into his bag, he stands on the toilet, removes a ceiling panel and tosses the bag through the gap. Liam, now Nightrival, replaces the panel and exits the stall.

What's the plan now, smart guy? he thinks to himself.

Once changed and her backpack stuffed in an inconspicuous place, Velocity was off once more, speeding out of the bathroom and back towards where the incident was taking place.

Moving at near the speed of sound, she ran up along the walls as she rushed into the room, zipping around the exterior and then back up to the side of the stage. Moving up, she stopped by the machines in the back and came to a halt.

“You know, for supposed betters, you dweebs are just a bunch of common thieves.†She said out loud. “How about you just give this dumb idea up before you get in real trouble.â€Â

Before Nightrival is able to fully concoct a plan, he hears a loud whoosh! from just outside the washroom door. He stands alert, his fists poised to lash out at anyone foolish enough to attack him.

What the heck was that?! Are those dweebs launchin' rockets now? I hafta to get out there, now!

He hears no explosions or screams, but his resolve strengthens nonetheless. Delaying any longer could mean putting more lives in danger, never mind the fact that innocent people are getting robbed. Nightrival forsakes any pretense of subtlety, bursting out of the washroom and racing to the end of the hall and into the exhibition room. He gazes across the room and his heart sinks when he sees the tremendous gulf seperating him from the crooks.

How I am gonna . . . oh, right. Nightrival removes a length of coiled rope from under his belt, swings a small weighted hook over his head and releases it. The hook flies up and catches the edge of the open roof. He takes a few steps back and bolts forward towards a nearby man wearing an Albert Einstein t-shirt. Jumping onto the man's shoulders, he launches himself into the air. Nightrival soars over the spectators, lets go of the line and somersaults onto the machine behind the would-be robbers.

"End of the line, you geeks. Either yer gonna stand down or - " He suddenly notices a woman wearing what clearly appears to be a yellow superhero costume, already facing the three criminals. "Oh. Um . . . hey," he mutters to her.

The three men turn on the newly arrived heroes. The one who fired the goo leans in to the leader and half whispers, "See, I told you Shocker! There would be heroes!". The leader yells back, "Silence, Goop! My name is Shock-alot!" As he says his name, his costume lights up in a brilliant display of electrical energy. Afterwards, he turns his head to Goop and whispers, "Shocker was taken..." And then back to the performance, "Stand down now you pathetic pultroons! Lest you feel the combined might of Tricorder!"
