However, his complication may come into play here - Steam knows a lot about mechanical engineering and stuff - or even unsubtle electrics. when it comes to advanced electronics, computers, etc, its not from his dimension. So he wouldn't understand. Consider that a fail, and a HP if it was worth it.

He sees the jade cat, standing on a pedistal on the far side of the room, and right next to it is a raised pedistal with an open book that's looks positively ancient, also, he hears the footsteps of the cavallary.

Initiative Time

9 For Carrie and Security Guards, 2, 22, 20, 7, one is following and protecting Nates, this is the thug template bumped up to PL 7, so +9 Defense, +9 Attack, +5 Damage, +5 Toughness, average everything else.. 4, Nates is civilian at PL 5 armed with a heavy pistol, +6 Attack, +4 Damage, +7 Defense, +3 Toughness, but he currently isn't fighting. Security Guards are NOT minions.

Okay dokie, so security guards are first, they both shoot at steam.

One miss, one hit, so DC 20 toughness for Steam, and he is next.

It doesn't hit, he has DC 19 defense(I did list the stats above). Carrie's turn, she attacks the thug that shot him, 25, that's a hit, so DC 26, 25 as well, critical really, so he's fine. Security guard see's new person and put's himself in front of Nates in full defensive mode. Nates draws his pistol and attacks Carrie, 26, that's a hit, so toughness DC 19, 15, so Carrie is bruised, next thug attacks Carrie also, 28, not critical luckily but a hit, DC 20, Carrie rolls toughness, and 27, she's fine. So top of the round.

8, so stunned and staggered. Carrie goes in for the kill, 19, that's a hit, so toughness roll against DC 26, 19, he's down, which means, takedown attack. Okay, so 24, that's a hit, okay toughness DC 26, 8, he's out too. And it's Nates turn. He runs to the book and starts doing a spell, and the cat is now moving. WE HAVE A NEW CHALLENGER!

Security Guard is sticking to Nates to take any hits in full defense mode and it's the top of the round, also for the Fiat for the Jade Cat, (which I'm sure there's something, ritualist or something) Carrie and Lockwood get an HP. For first round, Jade Cat is lagging for orders from Nates, so it's Lockwood's turn.

Right, looks like trouble!

Lets get those pesky security guards down first, I think.

Move Action: Feinting at -5 Penalty, 1d20+5=11 not too impressive, but you never know.

Standard Action: Shifting -1 Attack, +1 Damage with Cane:

1d20+10=22 Should be enough to hit even if the feint fails. DC 21 Toughness.

17, the feint fails, anyway, toughness, 10, so stunned and staggered. Carrie's turn, she acrobatic bluffs as a move action, 32, -5 is 27 and physically impossible for the cat to make so it's flatfooted, so she goes for the cat, she goes +2 damage shifting, and attacks 15, that's a hit, so DC 28 for cat, 32, that's no damage and it's Nates turn. His security guard is eying the cat and staying defensive, Nates is attack Carrie. Miss, new round, cat goes first. It attacks Carrie, 24, that's a hit, DC 29 for Carrie, 26, she's bruised again so lets see the layout.

14, he's down,. So Carrie damage shifts against the Jade Cat, 23, that's a hit, so DC 28, 15, that is stunned and staggered which with no constitution is a huge crack in the Jade.

Now Nates is attacking Carrie for hurting the cat, 7, that's a miss, Security Guard stops protecting and shoots too, 11, that's a miss.

It's in Chinese, because well the cat is a Chinese artifact, also there's a bit of a blocker for that, mostly Nate and his body guard who are also standing at the book.

Carrie acrobatic bluffs as a move action, 35, - 5 is thirty and beyond that cat's reach so the cat is flatfooted, so Carrie damage shifts +2, 15, that's a hit. So DC 28, So cat makes toughness 21, and shatters. Carrie will spend the next round cursing that she broke a priceless art piece. Nates grabs the book while the Security Guard shoots at Lockwood20, that hits, DC 20 for Lockwood. Nate uses his standard action to say an incantation and the cat starts to glow and regenerate itself. GM Fiat, so both character's get an HP.
