Shadowboxer Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 This . . . this kinda sucks. Nightrival keeps his face firmly planted againt the truck's trailer to avoid getting pelted by the minute debris flying up from the street. Yet, he is still able to cling to the edges of the truck with tense fingers. The wind cuts past his costume, gripping his bones with icy claws. He grinds his teeth to fight back his uncontrollable shivering, but relaxes when he feels Grim's hand on his shoulder. He turns his head slightly to address her. "Sounds like a plan," murmurs Nightrival. "I doubt I'll be able ta see anythin' after this ride."

Barnum Posted February 5, 2008 Author Posted February 5, 2008 The small convoy came nearly to a stop. The two lead cars made a right turn, and it looked as though the first car was pulling over to the curb in front of a large corner warehouse. In all likelyhood, the truck would turn right too and then stop. It was now or never for Grim.

Heritage Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 Grim gives Rival one last pat on the shoulder and whispers in his ear again. "I'm off; wish me luck." She then makes her way to the edge of the trailer and silently drops off the side into a protective roll, then moves quickly to the side of the warehouse, hugging the wall as she darts to the corner and peers around, not daring to drop her protective camouflage.

Shadowboxer Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 "Good luck," replies Nightrival. She's gonna do great. I just know it. He shuffles to the center of the trailer and prays that the goons won't spot him. Nightrival watches the scene intently, mentally preparing himself in case he needs to springs into action.

Barnum Posted February 5, 2008 Author Posted February 5, 2008 The truck stopped at the corner, and Nightrival lost sight of the rest of the convoy, his view blocked by the corner of the building. Grim, however, saw everything. The two sedans parked on the street but no one got out. After a moment, a man came out of the warehouse through the small door in the center of the building. He gave a quick wave to the sedans and to the truck and then began working to open the large garage-style door about 20 feet further down the building front. The truck revved it's engine as the driver put it in gear. The intent seemed obvious. They were going to drive the truck into the warehouse. Slowly the truck began pulling out into the street.

Heritage Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Still hugging the wall of the building, Grim quietly made her way down the sidewalk until she got to the garage door; once it was open enough for her to slip through, she ducked under it into the unknown.

Barnum Posted February 7, 2008 Author Posted February 7, 2008 Grim slipped into the warehouse unnoticed. The building was a large, two-story structure that, from the looks of it, was a parking garage in its previous life. There were still faded lines on the floor that were used to mark out parking spaces. The walls around the warehouse were lined with old scaffolding and debris of all kinds. There were even a few old cars still in their parking spaces. The truck slowly backed in once the door was all the way up. It only pulled in far enough to allow the door to shut behind it. Two men got out of the front of the truck. They were greeted by nearly a dozen more armed men who had been tucked away in the dark corners of the warehouse. One of the men from the truck spoke first. "Here we are. Help us start unloading." The men began working to open the back of the truck.

Heritage Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 With this clutter and shadow, Grim barely needs to maintain her camouflage, but she decides to err on the side of caution anyway; she takes a few cautious steps away from the door to put some distance between herself and any of the mooks, since she'd hate for one of them to bump into her and blow her cover. She finds a position that she likes, and for now is content to merely watch and listen as the operation unfolds before her.

Shadowboxer Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Now inside, Nightrival holds his breath. With some effort he could possibly render every goon in the parkade unconscious, although they are most likely armed and they look increasingly jumpy. Those two factors make them doubly dangerous. His thoughts go to Grim and he worries, thinking of the incident in the alley a short awhile ago with the two skinheads. Lashing out could place her in danger, but she can take of herself, can't she? She has superpowers. He's been training her. There is a chance she'll catch a bullet in the chaos though. Is she bulletproof? Man, is this how Master Lee feels all the time? How do ya know when they're ready? He lets out an inaudible sigh. Only one way ta know for sure. Nightrival crawls off the trailer quietly and deliberately, keeping as low as possible. Edging towards the cab on his hands and feet, he eases himself down to the cold concrete below with delicate finesse. His joints still tremble from his painfully cold trip. He scampers back into the shadows, circling around the crooks off-loading their illicit goods from the truck, flanking them. Nightrival settles behind some debris in the darkness and observes the men for a moment.
