trollthumper Posted June 4, 2011 Posted June 4, 2011 Nick Cimitiere, Changeling, Gaian Knight and Equinox try to figure out why strange things keep happening to the books in the Central Branch.
trollthumper Posted June 11, 2011 Author Posted June 11, 2011 While we wait for Ecal to return from the festival, Notice checks for everyone. That includes Hayley. Nick gets a 26.
Ecalsneerg Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Equinox Notice (1d20+15=19), and Hayley gets 18 with Skill Mastery
Fox Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Notice Check (1d20 + 15=17) Blagh. It's a good thing he's got a good bonus....
trollthumper Posted June 13, 2011 Author Posted June 13, 2011 All right. Here's what Gaian Knight and Equinox notice: There's a steadily repeating noise in the stacks. like something's being thrown against a wall. Here's what Hayley notices: There's something magical happening in the stacks to the east, and it feels like it's going around in circles. Here's what Changeling notices: There's the sound of books hitting the wall in the east stacks -- and at great velocity, with some degree of force.
Ecalsneerg Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 Quick Change into Costume, turn on Force Field, turn on Pentacle Force Field, turn on Subtle. No amount of safety is too much safety!
trollthumper Posted June 14, 2011 Author Posted June 14, 2011 All right, as Equinox is grabbing the vibrating book from behind, I'm going to say it'll be a simple DC15 Grapple check to keep it from flying off.
trollthumper Posted June 15, 2011 Author Posted June 15, 2011 The book is secured. I'll get an IC post up.
Ecalsneerg Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Explaining the joke? Google translate claims DrosisteÃte means "cool off".
trollthumper Posted June 16, 2011 Author Posted June 16, 2011 Sorry to do this again so soon, but, another round of Notice checks for all. Especially Hayley and Changeling, who are following their Magic Sense.
Ecalsneerg Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Notices: Equinox, Hayley (1d20+15=29, 1d20+8=15)
trollthumper Posted June 17, 2011 Author Posted June 17, 2011 And, because I almost forgot, Nick gets a 27. Okay, here's what Nick, Equinox, and Gaian Knight get: There is a distinct scent of sulfur down the hall to the east, in what would be the children's section. Here's what Hayley gets: There is some very bad, rotten magic going down that way. One big roaring font, with several smaller sources coming off of it. And here's what Changeling gets: There is a strong source of infernal magic down the hall. Trailing off of it are six potent demons, all clustered around it and waiting for something.
trollthumper Posted June 18, 2011 Author Posted June 18, 2011 And now we fight the hordes of Hell. We'll be using AA's Demon build for this fight, with the caps lowered to PL9. That means Attack +7 (+9 Hellfire), Defense +9 (+3 Flat-Footed), Toughness +9 (Impervious 5), Fort +6, Reflex +4, Will +7. (15:13:49) ChatBot: trollthumper rolls 1d20 and gets 7. (15:13:50) KnightDisciple: Between Gabriel and Equinox, I'm sure they can un-tacky it, at least a little bit (15:13:51) ChatBot: trollthumper rolls 1d20 and gets 18. (15:13:54) ChatBot: trollthumper rolls 1d20 and gets 2. (15:13:56) ChatBot: trollthumper rolls 1d20 and gets 2. (15:13:58) ChatBot: trollthumper rolls 1d20 and gets 19. (15:14:02) ChatBot: trollthumper rolls 1d20 and gets 13. As the demons have Initiative +7, that means they go on 26, 25, 20, 14, 9, and 9. (15:15:02) ChatBot: trollthumper rolls 1d20 and gets 17. And Nick goes on 23.
Aoiroo Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 (18:16:14) ChatBot: Aoiroo rolls 1d20 and gets 13. For Changeling, that's 15 because she has +2 initiative.
Ecalsneerg Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 (23:23:04) ChatBot: Ecalsneerg rolls 1d20 and gets 5. (23:23:08) ChatBot: Ecalsneerg rolls 1d20 and gets 2. So Equinox gets 6, and just in case I need one or Hayley despite leaving her in the back, she gets 6 also. Convenient!
Fox Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 (16:21:36) ChatBot: Fox rolls 1d20 and gets 17. That's a 17 for GK.
trollthumper Posted June 19, 2011 Author Posted June 19, 2011 Then here's where we are: Demon 1: 26, Unharmed, 0 HP Demon 2: 25, Unharmed, 0 HP Nick Cimitiere: 23, Unharmed, 3 HP Demon 3: 20, Unharmed, 0 HP Gaian Knight: 17, Unharmed, 2 HP Changeling: 15, Unharmed, 1 HP Demon 4: 14, Unharmed, 0 HP Demon 5: 9, Unharmed, 0 HP Demon 6: 9, Unharmed, 0 HP Equinox: 6, Unharmed, 4 HP So the demons go first. Demon 1 attempts to claw at Nick with her effective Damage 11 "hell-weapons," whereas the other tries to throw fireballs at Equinox, who's glowing white. The striking demon fails to hit Nick, whereas the fire demon fails to pierce Equinox's Shield. This leads to Nick's turn, wherein he attempts the always crowd-pleasing Poltergeist's Rage. The demons gets a DC17 Reflex save to cut a DC36 Opposed Grapple check down to DC33. Only Demon 5 makes it. Let's see how they do on the Grapple itself. Oh look, they're all Bound and Helpless. Demon 3 decides it wants to try and do something about this and lets loose a hissing, hell-borne invective as a means of delivering Emotion Control (Fear). As it's Sense-Dependent, make a DC19 Reflex save to avoid outright, and a DC19 Will save to resist. Nick manages to resist it outright. Demon 1: 26, Unharmed, Bound, 0 HP Demon 2: 25, Unharmed, Bound, 0 HP Nick Cimitiere: 23, Unharmed, 3 HP Demon 3: 20, Unharmed, Bound, 0 HP Gaian Knight: 17, Unharmed, 2 HP Changeling: 15, Unharmed, 1 HP Demon 4: 14, Unharmed, Bound, 0 HP Demon 5: 9, Unharmed, Bound, 0 HP Demon 6: 9, Unharmed, Bound, 0 HP Equinox: 6, Unharmed, 4 HP
Aoiroo Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 18 reflex, darn so close, will save than, 19 made on the nose.
Fox Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 Reflex Save vs. Demon 3's Emotion Control, DC19 (1d20 + 7=17) Bah. Will Save vs. Demon 3's Emotion Control, DC19 (1d20 + 8=21) Hooray!
Ecalsneerg Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 DC19 Reflex, followed by Will save. (1d20+6=16, 1d20+12=16) ... I hate you all. Blowing a Hero Point on the Will save, meaning there's no way to fail it (cos the minimum I can get is 23. You hear that, IC!?)
