cosmicarus Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 I don't know, after going 16-0 during the regular season, the Patriots really know how to win! During the 2007 off-season the Patriots picked up some key players including Randy Moss. The one-two combination of Tom Brady and Randy Moss is like non-other. I reckon this is one of those years a dynasty team is born. In my opinion, bet on the Patriots to win Super Bowl XLII today! ...ok, so maybe I swiped that from some website. I don't really know much about the Superbowl, but after someone I don't know wrote something like that on some random website about a sport I know nothing about, how can I argue? GO PATRIOTS!

Veiled Malice Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 I was born in the Northeast, and am thus genetically predetermined to favor the Patriots. But love 'em or hate 'em, going into the Superbowl, they are the superior team by far.

I don't think so there buddy, I doubt any of your soccer pros would enjoy (or survive) getting hit by any professional linebackers. The pads aren't much protection, trust me, I know. But as far as the Super Bowl this year goes, I'm not going to watch it, I'm a packers fan and the way the Giants eeked out that win is still rubbing me quite raw. Besides, the Giants have absolutely no chance of beating the Pats. If it were Green Bay playing, that would be a game to remember. All in all, the Pats are gonna win, and most nobody is really gonna give a rat's ass.

Heridfel Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 I'm still rooting for the Eagles and the Steelers. ...what? Seriously, though, I'm going to be playing a game of pickup tackle football with some folks from work, then going to watch the game at their place. I don't like either of the teams, but I like the Patriots less right now because they're heavily favored to win, and growing up rooting for Philadelphia sports teams means that I'm conditioned to root for the underdog. We're always the underdog.

Lilac Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 We are planning on having a fun little Super Bowl party tomorrow. Nothing fancy; about 20 people. I almost never follow football. I'm much more of a soccer lover myself.

I don't think so there buddy, I doubt any of your soccer pros would enjoy (or survive) getting hit by any professional linebackers. The pads aren't much protection, trust me, I know. d-PFRrJQtew AFL is the game of warrior poets (and mullets). That's where men not only need strength and endurance (as favoured by the American Football players), but also a determined grace and poise (as is required by the soccer crowd). In what other sport must a man smother the kick of an opponent, turn on his heels, push back through the physically daunting opposition and then needle a precise kick through goal from over fifty meters on the run? It's a sport where there are no offensive, defensive or specialist teams - just a bunch of blokes who put everything on the line in the longest game of football in the world. Its a game where, instead of peddling for a free shot at goal when tackled, a player has to get back up onto their feet and chase down the player who tagged them. It's a sport. It's a way of life. It's bloody Australian Rules Football. Ok, I'm done. Anyone gagging yet? Apologies if I've posted that video before, just wanted to get into the football argument (I need to thump my chest sometimes... it's a guy thing). Let's get back to the Superbowl! I don't like either of the teams, but I like the Patriots less right now because they're heavily favored to win, and growing up rooting for Philadelphia sports teams means that I'm conditioned to root for the underdog. We're always the underdog. Hehe, I like you're reasoning. Even just a cursory glance at talk over the internet seems to imply that the Patriots are in good stead. Normally, I'd be in your camp, Herid. But since I know nothing about the sport, I choose to vote cautiously. We are planning on having a fun little Super Bowl party tomorrow. Nothing fancy; about 20 people. I almost never follow football. I'm much more of a soccer lover myself. It can be fun jumping on board things you don't really care about, though. When Australia made it into the World Cup for soccer, the whole country really got behind it, even though a vast majoriy of people didn't follow the aport (including me). Makes for a great atmosphere though. The good thing is, because you don't really care, you just get the fun of supporting and not the pain if your team happens to lose. Hope you have fun! ...plotting my revenge When you take over the world, just remember that we're buds, ok?
