Gizmo Posted August 23, 2011 Author Posted August 23, 2011 Storm gave Eve a look of frank examination, eyes squinting slightly over his voluminous beard. After a few beats, he gave her a look that suggested he was watching her learn a hard lesson while simultaneously recalling the day he'd learned it himself. There was no argument from the grizzled man, no attempt to salve the petite acrobat's feelings of guilt, only a curt nod of agreement and respect. "" After giving Indira a beaming smile accompanied by a small bob in the air, Kimber floated over with a more restrained but encouraging smile for Eve. "You don't need to worry about a thing," she assured the white-haired girl gravely - or at least sincerely; 'grave' seemed to be, ironically, outside of her emotional range. "Dan acts pretty scary, but he's a big ol' softie. He'll make sure she's just fine!" A glare from the mystic turned a stifled chuckle into a cough even as it began to escape Verglas' throat.
KnightDisciple Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 "It's my fault," Eve said quietly glancing over at Corbin's hand on her shoulder. "A Martel stand between, Corbin, and I failed to do so."Almost before she was done talking, Eve was enveloped in a hug from her over-sized companion. Were it not such a solemn moment, the sheer size difference would be comical. As it was, Corbin took a moment to try and be a friend, a brother, to his hurting comrade. "It wasn't your fault, Eve. None of us realized that such a thing would be possible, not like this. We did the best we could with what information we had. Which wasn't as much as it could have been...The point is, you helped stop her before any of us were hurt badly. You helped stop her peacefully. Now she's going to get help. You did stand between today. Just not in a perfect world." He lapsed into silence, opting to stay where he was for the moment unless Eve objected. This was all he could do to help her now. He feared it wasn't enough.
