angrydurf Posted August 22, 2011 Author Posted August 22, 2011 It does its an obscure (all senses) effect
angrydurf Posted August 23, 2011 Author Posted August 23, 2011 Gonna move this along tonight Post if you can Cape.
Supercape Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 Have done. Given all senses are obscured, going to play him pretty useless for now (not sure if he can ever hear anybody).
quotemyname Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Blueshift is going to leave the pilot to Torque as he's already nearby. Instead, she and Mac are going to drop through that hole in the body of the plane and take a look around. Any rolls? Search? Investigation? etc? She'll take 20 with quickness on anything she can. Once the smoke clears she's going to go all predator. She'll cycle through a litany of extra senses on her sight every round with a standard action (thanks to gadgets) until she turns up something that she can identify or track or what have you. Is that cool? All notice checks can take 20 as well.
angrydurf Posted August 25, 2011 Author Posted August 25, 2011 Nothing shows up on your senses after the smoke clears beyond some heavy dimensional fluctuations in the area. Inside the hole you'll find a large metallic cylinder heavily inscribed with runes with odd pipes and what looks like some kind of control panel in a language you don't recognize. The panel is smoking and there is a large hole in the side of the cylinder. It looks like whatever was inside broke out. The readings for dimensional flux seem strongest inside the cylinder but are rapidly fading.
quotemyname Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 Any way I can attack that by using Gadgets to get Comprehend Languages and hack it with computers or disable device, or what have you? I'm trying to see what it is, what it does, etc. etc.
angrydurf Posted August 25, 2011 Author Posted August 25, 2011 You can get that its atlantean and an obscure dialect at that. There are surprisingly few libraries of atlantean script/translation available outside atlantis so thats what you can get in the short term. With a minute or two (given quickness/Mac Etc) you can probably get a partial translation.
quotemyname Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 I'll do that. And wait for the others to post while I'm at it ;)
Cyroa Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 I'm guessing he's dead? Durf: Would Torque know who Ace is?
angrydurf Posted August 26, 2011 Author Posted August 26, 2011 Yes on both counts! Gather Information DC 0: Ace Danger is the First born Child of the famed Johhny Danger founder of the jumgle patrol. He apears to be in his mid twenties despite his long career int he public spollight starting with his widely adapted adventures from age 8 to 14 the subject of a long running cartoon series and several feature length films.
angrydurf Posted August 27, 2011 Author Posted August 27, 2011 Alright by the time ace recovers and heads back Blue shift can get some salient points about the device. It is Atlantean in origin and is some kind of containment device. Inscribed are terms like 'danger' 'beast' 'lemurian'. It looks like a prison or cage of some sort for something the Atlanteans were rather frightened of. Now it is broken and empty.
Cyroa Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 shifting Int array: comprehend so he can read the whole thing, maybe get some more helpful info
angrydurf Posted August 28, 2011 Author Posted August 28, 2011 Alright with a little bit of time spent decoding and with what blueshift able to act as partial rossetta stone for a jumping off point (Assuming she helps) you'll be able to decipher most of it. the central control keyboard is just that and marked accordingly if somewhat arcanely while you can see what each element says it's not clear what that means. You are able to tell that it is some sort of containment device or prison, or cage. In ancient Atlantean the same word means basically all three and context here is almost nonexistent. It was built to imprison an weapon unleashed upon them by the Lemurians and is covered with warnings to that effect. It seems to be a weapon designed to target Atlantean infrastructure perhaps or maybe scientists. The phrasing is very archaic almost as if spoken more in metaphor than literal translation. It seems likely that whatever this was was big enough news that any Atlantean finding the device would know what they were talking about. On the other hand with out that context it's a little less clear.
quotemyname Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 As the IC says, she's going to research (free action) any and all atlantean records on strange arcane threats potentially causing massive disasters that they were able to defeat or lock up, etc etc. as well as all related info. Any rolls I need to make?
angrydurf Posted August 29, 2011 Author Posted August 29, 2011 This is definitely from very early in Atlantean history. During the wars with Lemuria that eventually sunk both into the sea. Unfortunately there are many threats from that era that could qualify. One thing your research will turn up is that the Lemurians were careful to make sure that their weapons could not be turned on them. So this thing whatever it is is likely somehow hard locked to seek out and destroy Atlantean targets either biologically or technologically. Now since Humanity is genetically almost identical to ancient Atlanteans (which this would have targeted) and there is not a blood bath going on, you can make hte jump to it being after Atlantean tech. Knowledge Pop Culture DC15 to know where the nearest likely Atlantean artifacts are in relation to the crash site.
quotemyname Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Knowledge (Pop Culture) 8 (+12/+15) She passes automatically (not to mention she can take 20).
angrydurf Posted August 29, 2011 Author Posted August 29, 2011 Yea that was mostly for the other folks if you share one without the other.
quotemyname Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Yea, she's not in the habit of keeping useful information to herself. If you tell me what the nearest thing is, I can make another IC post for you...
angrydurf Posted August 29, 2011 Author Posted August 29, 2011 oh yea. Derp. Meant to include that. Nearest collection would be at the Super Museum and Champions.
Supercape Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Just posting with a query here: what kind of effects does the "weird distrubance storm" thing have on Supercapes powers. I presume the regular blasts and whatnot function fine. The ENtanglement powers (teleportation and ESP) may not, as they involve folding various dimensions etc? Going by PLOT here, angry so following your lead - just want a heads up so I dont screw things up or post doing stuff I shouldn't be able to.
angrydurf Posted August 29, 2011 Author Posted August 29, 2011 Well nothing really static. You can try and use them just fine. If something needs to go wrong with them for plot reasons I'll hit you with a complication for it. Of course what Cape THINKS might go wrong is totally up to you.
Supercape Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Cool [not HP fishing there]. As you say, what he thinks might happen is another matter!
angrydurf Posted September 1, 2011 Author Posted September 1, 2011 Alright gonna give Cy till tonight to post then I'll move us forward.
Cyroa Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 Sorry! I'm back. Stupid hurricane... I'll be a little slow this weekend but I'll get to posting.
