cosmicarus Posted February 15, 2008 Author Posted February 15, 2008 What do you guys think of this? Can anyone say they haven't honestly considered it, even for just a feeling moment... or is it just me? I came to the conclusion long ago that perhaps the biggest issue (besides getting beaten up, of course) was getting around. No flight or web-shooters here. That leaves the car (which means finding parking) and public transport (which has far too many issues to mention). Still, one has to wonder...

Dr Archeville Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 I'd started a discussion about this on the Atomic Think Tank, over.... here. My own feelings: I applaud them and wish more people would do it.

Barnum Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 *note to self* "I've found "plan b" if the whole 'get married and have children' thing doesn't work out." *checks cape prices on ebay*

Shadowboxer Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 I think it's great that people take their civil responsibilities seriously. My only concern is the unlikely possibility of having real life superheroes slip into vigilantism.

Cyrith Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 I've thought about this, particularly after reading an article in Mental Floss detailing operations that would enhance your body, super strength, flexibility. No flight or anything, not yet. The start up fees are astronomical though.

Endless Flight Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 I've thought about this before, especially thinking in regards to rich people who have a lot of time on their hands. These guys could afford to buy body armor and other equipment to actually fight crime in large urban areas. Sort of like the Knight Foundation and Michael Knight.

My only concern is the unlikely possibility of having real life superheroes slip into vigilantism. Funny, first thing I thought of was "If I do that, I'm gonna be like the Punisher." heehee I have the military in my background and seeing as there's no super serum captain america is out. I don't think I'd go after the mafia though, just the Bloods and Crypts, you know the pathetic, completely disorganized, couldn't shoot a gun properly to save their lives street gangs. I have serious beef with those guys myself... Or maybe I'd go around punishing the white collar crime guys, who wouldn't have laughed their asses off to find the Enron guy found with a bullet in his head?

Avalon Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 The Bloods and Crypts of the US can't shoot for beans. If you want a challenge, come here and face the local chapters of the Crypts and Bloods here in the Philippines. At least the gangs there in America at least have a reason to shoot you. The nuts here shoot guys without any reason. I heard that the gang members from over there are scared of the guys from over here because of that reason.

Veiled Malice Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 First, it's the "Crips" not "Crypts". They're not undead, y'know. And I find it hard to believe that they're afraid of much of anything. Also, what exactly would be the "good reason" for gang members shooting each other?

Barnum Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 *feels a disturbance in the force* *senses the dark side . . . or rather a political debate about to break out* *draws lightsaber* Don't make me use this. :D
