The Space Between (IC)

"I am not certain 'momentarily' means what you think it means," Wraith wryly observed as Koshiro finally made his appearance. "It is fine, however, Papercut. I do not sleep at night in any case - it is very good for learning patience."

The alien turned her three eyes up to regard the old building for a moment before leaping at it, landing flat with clawed limbs (none of them were really legs or arms anymore) outstretched. She skittered sideways along the wall toward a boarded-up window - probably the victim of the weather or some local punks - and just disappeared into it, her body sliding through the cracks like the boards weren't even there.

It only took a few more moments for the sound of an old lock being manipulated to be heard on the other side of the door. Wraith opened the door, blinking. "It is not very clean in here."

The Old Fens Mission turned out to be a gorgeous treasure trove of Freedom City architecture, that is if your tastes ran to urban decay. Though some squatters had entered the place over the years, leaving behind gang tags and other signs of inhabitance, the building's relatively recent abandonment and its spiritual status meant most of the locals had thought twice about tampering with it. No sooner had they gotten through the fairly mundane freight doors in the back than they walked into what had once been a large church library; the books had been saved, many to the community library Sharl had left, but the shelves still rotted high on the walls, and pallid stone angels and their gargoyle companions leered inquisitively down at the teens as they studied the room.

The rest of the floor seemed cut in a similar style, all dramatic Church architecture now fallen into disrepair: some of the interior stained glass panels were even largely intact! Sharl cast his flashlight about in fascination, making a note to build himself a flashlight built directly into his program as soon as he could: a physical light was as much a hinderance as help. "Wow...this is so WEIRD!" All this space, abandoned and gone to rot, was as alien as the Terran architecture itself.
