Avenger Assembled Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Early November Gaian Knight, Miss Americana, and Citizen go underground to break up a royal wedding!
Avenger Assembled Posted October 22, 2011 Author Posted October 22, 2011 Give us an Earth Sciences check.
Fox Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 Knowledge Check (Earth Sciences), DC?? (1d20 + 15=18) Aw, c'mon, IC. In his area of speciality? We're having none of that. Completely unnecessary REROLL: Knowledge Check (Earth Sciences) REROLL, DC?? (1d20 + 15=35) Yeessssss. GK knows all the things.
Avenger Assembled Posted October 22, 2011 Author Posted October 22, 2011 What _doesn't_ Gaian Knight know about giant underground insects? While there are a few mega-arthropod species active in North America, most of them are one-offs like the Gypsy Moth of North Carolina or the Emperor of Worms up in Vermont: beetles are different, though, those tend to come from places where people don't go much, like the vicinity of the Lost World, or closer to home, the underground kingdom of Sub-Terra. There are quite a few different giant subterreanean bugs down there: the Lemurians bred 'em that way for labor and for conquest, and some of them are still trainable if you know how to do it. Some of them aren't even people hostile, since the Sub-Terrans tend to run away from monsters and the bugs don't even see things as small as people as food sources. Terra-King often uses armored bugs and the like for incursions to the surface world; they're big, they're tough, and he can always breed more.
Avenger Assembled Posted October 24, 2011 Author Posted October 24, 2011 Did you want a description of the underground cave system, Fox?
Fox Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 I was mostly waiting to make sure the double-post got cleared up, but sure, couldn't hurt!
Avenger Assembled Posted October 26, 2011 Author Posted October 26, 2011 The underground cave system beneath the island is fairly typical for seaside caves; limestone and other sedimentary rocks, many areas partially flooded, and the like. It's easy to follow the beetle's trail down down and down, until you're a good 100 meters below the surface: one area of concern is that the tunnel also leads out to sea, so you guys are currently under the shelf: it's 100 meters to the surface, and probably another 50 of ocean water up there.
Fox Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 GK is much, much faster than the other two (underground, anyway!), so he's throttling back on the speed a little and trying to keep ahead, but not too far ahead. One day, he shall have Affects Others Burrowing and all heroes can ride the subway! For now, Sharl and Miss A get to hoof it. Well, fly. Wing it?
