Vahnyu Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 The 20Q Greetings! I am Rich Royer, and I'd like to welcome you to '20 Questions'! Thank you Rich, and I am honoured to be here. What we will do here, is, I ask you 20 questions about yourself, and you answer them to the best of your abilities. Are you ready to begin? Ready as ever. Let's roll. 1. Ok, so first things first. What is your name? People refer to me as Net Fly. 2. Second Question. What is your motivation? To train my powers and abilities, in order to help those in need. 3. Going good so far. Next question. What... is the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow? ... Oy... 3. Ok, ok, please, it was just a joke to lighten the mood. There's no need to exhasperate. Let's move on with the actual question, shall we? So, tell us, where are you from. ...I am from Freedom City, born and raised. 4. How would you physically describe yourself? Is this different from how others would? Isn't that two questions? 4. Just, indulge me Hmmm... If I had to say... I would describe myself as a lean, fit, handsome young man. Others may exhibit a certain amount of difference of opinion on the 'handsome' part, of course. 5. Of course. Next question. Do you have distinguishing speech characteristics or recurring mannerisms? Nope, none that I'm aware of, no... though, on second thought, I do have a tendency to shout in a high pitched voice when excited. 6. I see. What are, in your opinion, your greatest strengths and weaknesses? Well, I suppose my greatest strength is that I an quick on my feet, both physically and mentally. My greatest weakness is that I am sometimes too quick to act. 7. What do you hero love? What do you hate? Hmmm... I certainly love technology, computers in particular and tinkering with them(whether it involves hardware or software). I hate indecisiveness, especially for the consequences it may wright. 8. How would you describe your mental and emotional state? A bit flippant at times, but I have good work ethics. 9. What do you fear the most? Failure, especially in the field of heroism. 10. What is your greatest ambition? Heh! To become one of the world's leading Superheroes. If you have to have an ambition, always aim high! 11. An admirable sentiment. Question number eleven. How do you feel about the state of the world and your place in it? The world has it's problems, for sure, but I'm not really bothered by it. I can wait for my time to shine. In the meantime, there is much to learn. 12. Do you have any prejudices? How do you get along with others? Nope, none that I'm aware of, no. I generally get very well along with others... so long as they remain on the right side of the law. 13. Where do your loyalties lie? In what order? First come my friends and family. My teammates come next. My fellow human beings follow. My ideals. Lastly, the rest of the World 14. Do you have a lover or partner? How do they feel about you now? At the moment? Nope, one that I'm aware of, no, though I have indulged myself with the occasional fling, on the past. 15. Do you have a family? What is the relationship there like? Yes, a father, a mother, and a step-father. I mostly gets along well with my mother's betrothed, but unfortunately, my relationship with my father has cooled slightly. 16. How would the people closest to you describe you? A jokester. At least, I hope. 17. Are you a role model? Can't say I am, but I'm not a depraved individual either. People say that in order to live in a perfect world, each and every one of us must be perfect paragons of virtue, but I disagree with that. We don't need to be perfect. We just need to be decent to each and every other. 18. Huh. Interesting. Next question. How spiritual are you? Do you follow a religious tradition? No, I'm not really devout. That is to say, I believe in the christianic perception of God, but I don't believe He cares much about traditions and symbolic gestures, especially if you yourself don't care about them, but rather, he cares about the spirit of those tennets, which is, help each other when you can. And when you can't, at least make sure that you don't cause each other grief or harm. 19. We're almost done. Are you part of a team, or would you like to be, and why? Not yet, as I have just started superheroing, but I wouldn't be adverse to the concept. There is a lot to be gained from working together with others towards a common goal, the least of which is the more efficient achievement of said goal. 20. And finally, our twentyeth question. How do you feel about the place of metahumans and aliens on Earth? Those who err in the side of law are fine. Same as with everyone else. Aaand that concludes our 20 questions, folks! I have to admit, this was both fun, and introspective. It was, wasn't it. Oh, would you allow me one last, unofficial question? You mean, not counting this one? I suppose so, though I might have to speak with my manager on the terms of the contract, but at any rate, shoot. ... Right... so, you've been in this whole hero business quite some time, now, correct? What I want to know is, how hard is it, dealing with supervillains? Hmm... that depends... Meaning? Is it an American supervillain, or a European one? What does that have anything to... Oh... Right then... I suppose I kinda deserved that one, didn't I? Your words, Rich, not mine. Net Fly, everyone!
Vahnyu Posted October 23, 2011 Author Posted October 23, 2011 Introduction Who are you? Sum yourself up in one sentence. I'm a gadgeteer genius with sonic powers and a suit. Do you have any nicknames, street names, titles, or nom de plume? I call myself Net Fly. Other than that, nope, none that I'm aware of, no. What is your full birth name? Serge Explinker. Where do you live? In an appartment on Parkside, near the Theatre District. How old are you? What year were you born (if applicable)? I'm 16 years old. Born during 1995. Physical Traits What is your gender? If not applicable, please explain. I'm male. How would you describe your heritage? Um... I'm American? Nothing noteworthy, other than that, really. How tall are you? 5'10" What is your body type? Lean and thin, of medium height and well built. Do you have any particular weaknesses, such as allergies or physical disabilities? Nope, none that I'm aware of, no. How do you carry yourself? Are you graceful, or heavy on your feet? Can you be stealthy, do you walk with confidence? I wouldn't say I'm graceful, per se, but yeah, I can be stealthy, when the job demands it. Otherwise, I'm more relaxed. Describe your skin, eye, and hair color. Salmon pink skin, green eyes, and blonde hair. How do you wear your hair, if applicable? Do you have facial hair? FREESTYLE, BABY! I don't have much in the way of facial hair... yet. Do you consider yourself attractive? Do others? Hmmm. A tough one. On a scale of 1 to 10, I guess I'm a respectable 8, though my bro insists I'm more of a 6. Do you have any scars, tattoos, piercings, or birthmarks? Nope, none that I can see of, no. Do you resemble anyone famous? Nah... can't say I do, really. Do you have a dominant hand? Yes... What? You need to know which one? Alright, I'm right-handed. What kind of clothing do you wear? Casual clothing, lion-colored baggy pants or jeans, a light-grey tank-top and a green camp shirt. Do you wear makeup? Nope, none that I'm aware of, no. What is your vocal range? Is your voice distinctive in some way? My voice isn't really distinctive, though I sometimes veer towards higher pitches. Do you have any distinctive habits, nervous tics, or mannerisms? Where did they come from, and what causes them? Do other people notice and remark on these habits? Do they annoy you or other people? Appart from the occasional high pitch? I have a tendency to shout when my spirits are high, or when I want to get my spirits high. And I occasionally clip my nails with my teeth, though I'm trying to cut back on that. History Where do you come from? Freedom City, born and bred. Have you made any major moves, or do you live in your hometown? I live in my hometown(city?). Do you feel loyal to your country of citizenship? Do you consider yourself patriotic? How do you feel about the government of your country? Not really. In fact, not at all. My allegiance lies to people, not abstract concepts of limited unification(or something). Having said that, I wouldn't say I detest the government, either, it's just that it's not my concern, is all. How do you feel about the place you come from? It's a nice place, though we could do with less of a crime spree. Where is your home town? What was/is it like? It's here, Freedom City. Growing up, were most of the people you knew similar to you, or were you somehow a minority? How did that affect you? I suppose that technically, yes, they were similar to me. I mean, yeah, I'm a mutant and whatnot, but it didn't affect me much, if at all. Is there something you've always been really good at or really bad at? How has that affected your life? I'm good with machines, and especially with computers. It has affected at least my crime-fighting life, as it helped me design my Vibro-Suit. Were there any traumatic experiences in your early years (death of a family member, abandonment, orphaned at an early age)? My parents got divorce when I was still in primary school, but I wouldn't call it anywhere near tragic. Briefly describe a defining moment in your childhood and how it influenced your life. See above. Also, the first computer I built and programmed. It was then that I realised my passion for technology. What stupid things did you do when you were younger? Too many to remember, like most people. Where did you go to school? How much school did you have, and did you enjoy it? I went to the local public primary school and highschool, until recently. It was okay, I guess, with it's ups and downs. Do you have any mementos of your childhood? What are they, and why did you keep them? If you have none, why not? I still have the first computer I built, as a reminder of my passion and potential. When did you decide to become a hero? Why? Did anyone influence you one way or another in the decision? When a bunch of guys kidnapped me and a couple of innocent bystanders, during a heist. I was paralyzed by fear, even though I could have escaped at any time, thanks to my powers. I decided to become a hero, because a hostage was executed right in front of my eyes. Realising that I could have stopped it, had I tried, I escaped, masked my self, made a vibro-glove, and kicked their butts. Upon reflection, afterwards, I decided that I should become a hero. Is the reason you give people for becoming a hero different than your real reason? If so, why? I don't give other people any reason as to why I became a hero, mainly because it's none of their busyness. Do you have any deep, dark secrets in the past that may come back to haunt you? Nope, none that I'm aware of, no. Do you represent yourself as being different from who you really are? Why? Not really and I don't see a reason why. If so, is it public knowledge? Nope, none that I'm aware of, no. Family What are your biological parents' names? Andrew Explinker and Catherine Coldear. Were you raised by them? If not, please explain and describe who raised you. Yes though for the most part it was through shared costudy. What was their standing in the community? What did/do they do for a living? My father is a software engineer, while my mother works alongside my step-father in a jewlery shop. Where are your parents now? Divorced. I live with my mom, most of the time. Did your family stay in one area or move around a lot? We stayed in Freedom City. How did you get along with their parents? How do you get along with them now (if applicable). Generally, I get along with them very well. My father and I have grown somewhat appart, after the divorce, but we still keep in touch. How do your parents view you now, or how would they? As most parents view their children, I guess. Do you have any siblings? If so how many and what are their names? Describe your relationship with them. Nope, none that I'm aware of, no. What was your birth order in the family? First, and only, born. Where are your siblings now (if applicable)? Do they have families of their own? What do they do? Nope, none that I'm aware of, no. Do you stay in touch with them or have you become estranged? No siblings. Do you love or hate one member of the family in particular? Nope, none that I'm aware of, no. Is any member of the family special to you in any way (perhaps, as a confidant, mentor, or arch-rival)? Can't say there is one... maybe my step-father. Are there any black (or white) sheep in the family (including you)? If so, please explain. Nope, none that I'm aware of, no. Do you have a notorious or celebrated ancestor? If so, please explain, including how it has affected your life. Nope, none that I'm aware of, no. Do you have a partner and children currently? If so, please describe them. Nope, none that I'm aware of, no. If you do not have a partner or children, do you want them someday? How firm are you in your opinion on this, and what might change your mind? Don't we all? I'm too young to think this through, but I'm pretty confident that, when the time comes, I'd like to start a family of my own. What type of person would be your ideal mate? One that's easy on the eyes, gets my attempts at humor, and doesn't press my berserk buttons. Cooking skills optional. Programming skills, also optional, though heavily encouraged. Relationships Do you have any close friends? If so, please describe them, and how you came to be close to them. I'm very close with an ex-colleague of mine. We still meet on a regular basis, to talk about relationships, play games, or simply say idiotic jokes. Aggelos Evanakis, an ex arch-rival from school. We beat the stuffing out of each other regularly. Now we're bestest friends everest. Go figure. He's a brown-haired math geek, rather plumb, and with a sense of humor even better(or worse), than mine. Do you have a best friend? If so, how did they become your best friend? How close are you to your best friend? Aggelos. He's my bro. I'd trust him with my car. I'd trust him with my life. But I will not trust that SOB with Berlin. If you were to go missing, who would worry about you? My parents and my bro. Have you lost any loves? If so, how did it happen, and what did you do? Nope, none that I'm aware of, no. Do you have any bitter enemies? If so, please describe them and their history with you. Aggelos was one, at the beginning. Nowdays, though? Nope, none that I'm aware of, no. If you have enemies, how do you think they might attempt to work against you in the future? I dunno? How do enemies work against anyone? What is the worst thing someone has done to you? Nothing comes to mind. Where do your loyalties lie? In what order? Let's see. My friends and family come first, and foremost. My fellow hero colleagues follow, my fellow human beings come third, and last, the rest of the creation. Who or what do you trust the most? Why? Aggelos. 'Cause his my bro. Who or what do you despise? Why? Murderers in general(I don't have any specific examples). I don't think I need to expand on that. What qualities do you admire most in other people? Are these qualities you possess? A great sense of humor, punctuality, lawfulness, and a good work ethic. Aside from punctuality, I would say that yes, I do possess those qualities. What qualities do you hate most in other people? Do you have any of those qualities? Seriousness, and a wanton disregard for the laws. No, I don't think I have those 'qualities'. Do you have a secret identity? If so, who knows it? Do you hide it from people who are close to you? Why? Yes I do. My step-father knows. I hide it from other people who are close to me. Do you work well on teams and in groups? Are you a leader or a follower? I don't have any experience working with groups. I'm not sure if I'm a leader or a follower, though I think that I prefer taking initiative. Are you on a super team? If so, how do you get along with your comrades? Do you trust them, or do you have secrets from them? I'm not on a team, yet, so I can't answer that, really. Are you a member of any church, fraternal organization, club, committee, political party, or other group? How much time do you spend on that? Nope, none that I'm aware of, no. Personality & Beliefs Who are your heroes? Can't say I'm familiar enough with any hero to hold him or her as a personal hero. Did you ever become disillusioned with former heroes or idols? If so, why and what were the circumstances? Can't say I have. Do you like being a hero? If so, what is the most rewarding part? If not, what makes you keep doing it? Tough one... It's not so much that I like being a hero, as it is that I dislike not being one. Is there anything that would make you give up hero work, or even switch sides? Nope, none that I'm aware of, no. What are your short term goals (what would you like to be doing within a year)? Graduate from Claremont academy into a respectable hero. What are your long term goals (what would you like to be doing twenty years from now)? Revolutionize the computer industry. What is your greatest fear? Why? What do you do when something triggers this fear? Failure. Because there is nothing worse in the whole world than the knowledge that there is something you could do, only for you to fail to deliver. Last time I was confronted by that fear, I decided to enroll to Claremont Academy, in order to hone my abilities as a superhero. Is there anything you would give you life for? Well... they say there is no greater honor than giving your life for the life of an innocent. To tell the truth, I'm not sure I could do that, if I was ever faced with the possibility, but I sure hope that I would rise to the occasion. How do you feel about money and material wealth? Do you desire it or disdain it? Are you miserly with what you have, or do you like to share? Is it a mark of success, or a means to an end? A great thing to have, but not to the exclusion of moral intergrity. I don't have problem sharing money, so long I can afford to. Money is not THE mark of success, and though it is one of the many indicators of success, it's more important what you can do with it. How do you generally treat others? Like equals. I treat someone the same way I expect someone to treat me. Even though I consider them inferior to me, that is no excuse to treat them as such. Are you a trusting person? Has your trust ever been abused? Yes, I am. My trust hasn't been abused, as far as I know, anyway. Are you introverted (shy and withdrawn) or extroverted (outgoing)? Do you have a lot of self-confidence? I am extroverted. I have quite a bit of self-confidence. How do you act around attractive, available members of your preferred sex? It was the first thing I built, and subsequently programmed. Do you enjoy "roughing it", or do you prefer your creature comforts? I prefer comforts. Other than trainning, there is absolutely no reason whatsoever to choose "roughing it". Is there a job or a task you would absolutely refuse to do? Anything harmfully illegal(i.e. murder). Do you consider yourself a spiritual person? If so, how do your beliefs affect your life? How important is it to you? Can't say I'm high on the spirituality department. Was your faith influenced or molded by anyone special? Not really, no. If you belong to a religious organization, how often do you attend? Do you have a specific place of worship, or friends within the organization? How much do you agree with the beliefs of your organization? I don't belong in any religious organization. Could you kill? Have you killed? Don't think I could. I haven't killed What circumstances led to you forming that conviction, or taking that action? Witnessing a murder in front of your eyes when you know you could have averted it, tends to create those feelings. Are there circumstances under which you believe it is permissible to kill? What are they? Of course there are. Survival comes first and foremost. How would you react to watching someone kill another person? Would your reaction be different if the killer was a friend or an enemy of yours? If it needed to be done, I'd prefer not to watch, especially if it was a friend of mine. If not, I'd prefer to kick the murderer's ass. Even if the victim was an enemy of mine. How would you react if something important was stolen from you? I'd hunt them down to the ends of Earth to retrieve what was stolen for me. Unless, of course, the reason the theft occured proved to be of higher importance. How would you react to public humiliation? I'd try to take it in stride. In the end of the day, I don't cary what the public thinks of me. How would you react if a good friend or relative were purposely or accidentally killed? Has it happened to you? Grief, anger, regret, depending on the situation. No, it hasn't happened to me, yet. What do you consider to be the worst crime someone could commit and why? Murderd. Every life is sacred, and killing someone for selfish reasons is an abomination unto life. If your life were to end in 24 hours, what five things would you do in those remaining hours? Hang out with my friends and family, play video-games, maybe watch some tely, eat a good dinner, and make damn certain that I can avoid my death. Try to learn, of course. Lifestyle & Hobbies What is a normal day for you? How do you feel when something interrupts this routine? Wake up, go to school, fight some crime, go out, do your homework, go to sleep. Depends on the occasion. Do you have any hobbies, or interests outside hero work? What are they, and where did you pick them up? Computers, especially computer programming. I picked it from my father. What do you do for fun? Play video-games. Tinker with my inventions. Hang around with a friend. Do you have a costume? What does it look like? Yes I do. It is mostly grey, composed of a spandex-like material, and covers most of my body, except the eyes, and it has extra pockets strapped at my thighs. I wear black boots and black briefs, on top of the suit, with a blue tool belt. I have blue mechanical gauntlets, and a white megaphone strapped on a blue x-shaped harness, in front of my chest. Finally, I have two blue head-pieces that cover my ears, on top of my mask. How do you normally dress when not in costume? I usually wear sunglasses. Being a great, if not the greatest, superhero, and revolutionizing the computer industry. In a good way. Do you believe you pose a threat to the public? Why or why not? Of course not. I'm helping the world where it needs help. How can that ever be 'Posing threat'? What do you perceive as your greatest strength? My brains. What do you perceive as your greatest weakness? I am very prone to acting before thinking, quite ironically in regards to the previous question. As a player, if you could, what advice would you give your character? Speak as if he/she were sitting right here in front of you. Use proper tone so they might heed your advice... Learn. Learn as much as you can. And after you've learned everything you can, learn some more. Life is learning, whether consciously or subconsciously.
Avenger Assembled Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 Just a reminder that your 20Q should look like this as far as depth. The example there is definitely"err on the side of story", you don't have to have that much, but in general your 20Q should at least have the skeleton of a story around it.
