trollthumper Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 Cannonade, Asad, Equinox and Ironclad deal with a bank robbery with a lot of interested parties and a strange reward.
TheAbsurdist Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Asad bursts forth to catch some rubble, possibly with his face. Tou vs. Falling Rocks (1d20+15=34)
trollthumper Posted January 4, 2012 Author Posted January 4, 2012 That'll do it. Asad gets an HP for rushing up to meet the rubble.
trollthumper Posted January 4, 2012 Author Posted January 4, 2012 And it's combat time! Ironclad gets a Hero Point as well for finding herself right in the middle of a hostage situation. Today's villains will be three mainstays of the Thieves' Guild - Firebug, Looking Glass, and The Weather Mistress. Firebug will be represented by AA's Armored Pyromaniac, with Flight 3 instead of Leaping 1 and Speed 1, and stats adjusted for PL12 - Attack +10 (+12 Pyromancy/+14 Melee), Defense +14 (+5 Flat-Footed), Toughness +10, Fort/Ref/Will +9, and damage to match. Looking Glass will be represented by my own Master of Mirrors, with stats adjusted to PL12 - Attack +8 (+12 Mirror Array), Defense +12 (+4 Flat-Footed), Toughness +12, Fort +9, Ref +10, Will +11, and damage to match caps. Weather Mistress will be represented by AA's Weather Controller, with stats adjusted to PL12 - Attack +7, Defense +12 (+4 Flat-Footed), Toughness +12, Fort +10, Reflex +7, Will +12, and damage to match. Firebug goes on 14. Looking Glass goes on 21. Weather Mistress... goes on 27. Holy crap. Cannonade goes on 23.
Raveled Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Ironclad's Ini. (1d20+5=17) Yeah, no. So are those minions Clad's facing, TT?
trollthumper Posted January 4, 2012 Author Posted January 4, 2012 They might be. What does Ironclad know about Looking Glass?
Raveled Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Probably whatever's publicly available. Well-Informed + Online Research + Auto 25 Computers check.
trollthumper Posted January 4, 2012 Author Posted January 4, 2012 All right, I'll allow that, given Ironclad's Mental Quickness. Looking Glass is a member of the Thieves' Guild, with powers that stride the line between sufficiently advanced technology and just flat-out magic. She has control over mirrors, illusions, and all sorts of reflections.
Raveled Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Time to spend that HP! Stunting off the suit's Sensor Array. Super Senses 14 ( Infravision, Analytical Visual Senses [All], Radius Visual Senses [All], Counter All Illusion [Visual], Counter Concealment [Visual], Extended Visual Senses [All] [100 ft increment]) [11/14PP]
trollthumper Posted January 4, 2012 Author Posted January 4, 2012 All right, I'll allow that to come into play on Ironclad's turn. We still need Initiative from Asad and Equinox.
trollthumper Posted January 5, 2012 Author Posted January 5, 2012 So, here's our order: Weather Mistress: 27, Unharmed, 0 HP Cannonade: 23, Unharmed, 3 HP Looking Glass: 21, Unharmed, 0 HP Ironclad: 17, Unharmed, 5 HP Firebug: 14, Unharmed, 0 HP Asad: 10, Unharmed, 3 HP Equinox: 7, Unharmed, 4 HP So Weather Mistress is up first. She decides to aid in getting the vault the hell out of there by calling up a stiff breeze to hurl the vault right into Cannonade. As it's a Perception attack, the object hits Cannonade, meaning he needs to make a DC25 Toughness save. Which he does. Cannonade responds by jumping up onto the helicopter and trying to hit Weather Mistress... which he does not. Looking Glass, meanwhile, decides to bluff at Ironclad as a Standard Action, as both of her move into position towards the hostages. She scores a 24 on her Feint attempt, which Ironclad must beat with a Will, Bluff, or Sense Motive roll. However, due to the aforementioned Stunt, which will go off on her turn, Ironclad is fully aware which one is the real Looking Glass. And Ironclad is up next.
Raveled Posted January 5, 2012 Posted January 5, 2012 Uuuuuuh let's go with Sense Motive. Ironclad's Sense Motive check, vs Bluff DC 24. (1d20+8=21) Well, did better than I thought I would, but still not quite enough. to save the day! Ironclad's going to try and grapple (the real) Looking Glass. Weapon Array set to Enhanced Strength and Power Reserve is set 2 pts into Flight, 8 into S-Str. Ironclad's melee attack check, vs. Looking Glass' Def. (1d20+10=19) Meh. Probably a miss, but just in case. Ironclad's Grapple check, vs LG's opposed Grapple. (1d20+24=40) Woot. If that doesn't work, Interposing for the hostages if LG gets a shot off.
trollthumper Posted January 5, 2012 Author Posted January 5, 2012 Sadly, Looking Glass has had a chance to act, so she manages to dodge the impact. Weather Mistress: 27, Unharmed, 0 HP Cannonade: 23, Unharmed, 3 HP Looking Glass: 21, Unharmed, 0 HP Ironclad: 17, Unharmed, 4 HP Firebug: 14, Unharmed, 0 HP Asad: 10, Unharmed, 3 HP Equinox: 7, Unharmed, 4 HP Firebug is up next. He decides to be precise, hitting Cannonade right in the small of the back with a flaming fist barrage. He hits, and as Cannonade's Defense DC is 19 and the attack has Autofire 1, Cannonade needs to make a DC28 Toughness save. He takes a Bruise. Weather Mistress: 27, Unharmed, 0 HP Cannonade: 23, Bruised x1, 3 HP Looking Glass: 21, Unharmed, 0 HP Ironclad: 17, Unharmed, 4 HP Firebug: 14, Unharmed, 0 HP Asad: 10, Unharmed, 3 HP Equinox: 7, Unharmed, 4 HP Asad is up next.
TheAbsurdist Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Asad goes to grab the vault. Grab! (1d20+5=6) Oh... oh HELL no. Spending a Hero Point to reroll that. Grabbing that Vault. (1d20+5=16) Get ovah here! And opposed grapple check: Opposed Grapple check (1d20+25=34) Hello!
trollthumper Posted January 7, 2012 Author Posted January 7, 2012 All right. The safe rolls a 33, and is effectively Pinned. And as the safe is attached to the helicopter, that means the helicopter is effectively pinned until either one of the Thieves' Guild forcefully breaks Asad's Grapple, that cable gets cut, or the pilot manages to break the Grapple with the helicopter. And as the pilot has now been dragged into all this, let's roll Initiative for him! We'll be using the stats for the SWAT Office from p. 229 of the M&M corebook, only throw in 8 ranks of Pilot for a +10 to all Pilot checks. He goes on 20. Weather Mistress: 27, Unharmed, 0 HP Cannonade: 23, Bruised x1, 3 HP Helicopter/Pilot: 20, Unharmed, Pinned, 0 HP Looking Glass: 21, Unharmed, 0 HP Ironclad: 17, Unharmed, 4 HP Firebug: 14, Unharmed, 0 HP Asad: 10, Unharmed, 2 HP Equinox: 7, Unharmed, 4 HP Equinox is up next.
Ecalsneerg Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Full Round Action - Aim action. Free Action - Surge for another Standard Action Standard Action - Flaming Blast the chain, power attacking for 2. It's an immobile object, so +4 to hit for a total of +13 to hit, and DC28 Toughness to resist... BOOM (1d20+13=20)
trollthumper Posted January 9, 2012 Author Posted January 9, 2012 The chain is now Bruised. Weather Mistress: 27, Unharmed, 0 HP Cannonade: 23, Bruised x1, 3 HP Helicopter/Pilot: 20, Unharmed, Pinned, 0 HP Looking Glass: 21, Unharmed, 0 HP Ironclad: 17, Unharmed, 4 HP Firebug: 14, Unharmed, 0 HP Asad: 10, Unharmed, 2 HP Equinox: 7, Unharmed, 4 HP Chain: N/A, Bruised, 0 HP All right, before we go forward, I must admit to a mistake - I thought Ironclad was PL12 mechanically. She is not; she is still PL10. As this fight is 3 PL12 villains vs. 3 PL10 and 1 PL12 hero, that is not good. Ergo, all the villains are now PL11 mechanically. So, now it's the top of Round 2. Weather Mistress notes that Asad is currently holding their ass in place, Equinox is trying to drop the loot, and Cannonade is currently hanging onto the landing gear, so she tries to drop hail stones on them with her Area Shapeable Blast. It's a DC21 Reflex save to halve, and a DC26 (DC21 if successful) Toughness save after that. Cannonade fails his Reflex save, and really blows his Toughness save. Hero Point! That's another Bruise, but at least he's not Staggered. Weather Mistress: 27, Unharmed, 0 HP Cannonade: 23, Bruised x2, 2 HP Helicopter/Pilot: 20, Unharmed, Pinned, 0 HP Looking Glass: 21, Unharmed, 0 HP Ironclad: 17, Unharmed, 4 HP Firebug: 14, Unharmed, 0 HP Asad: 10, Unharmed, 2 HP Equinox: 7, Unharmed, 4 HP Chain: N/A, Bruised, 0 HP Cannonade responds to this assault by trying to punch Weather Mistress in the face. And it hits, meaning she needs to make a DC25 Toughness save. And she is Dazed and Staggered as a result. Weather Mistress: 27, Unharmed, Dazed (Cannonade's Turn), Staggered, 0 HP Cannonade: 23, Bruised x2, 2 HP Helicopter/Pilot: 20, Unharmed, Pinned, 0 HP Looking Glass: 21, Unharmed, 0 HP Ironclad: 17, Unharmed, 4 HP Firebug: 14, Unharmed, 0 HP Asad: 10, Unharmed, 2 HP Equinox: 7, Unharmed, 4 HP Chain: N/A, Bruised, 0 HP The Helicopter Pilot goes next. He tries to break Asad's Grapple as a Move Action using the helicopter's STR 30. And that's a 41. I'll need an Opposed Grapple check from Asad to figure out whether the safe is staying still or going into flight. Meanwhile, inside the bank, Looking Glass strikes at Ironclad, shifting her Mirror Array towards Damage Area Cone w/ Autofire 1. That means it's Targeted Area, so... yeah, it still hits. As that's a 24 vs. Ironclad's Defense of 15, that's a +4 from Autofire, meaning Ironclad needs to make a DC30 Toughness save. Ironclad is up next.
Raveled Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Ironclad's Toughness save, vs DC 30. (1d20+15=27) I will happily take a Bruise from that. Ironclad's melee attack check w/ +5 All-Out Attack, vs Looking Glass' Def. DC 25 Tou (1d20+10=13) Going to spend a HP for a reroll of it. Ironclad's melee attack check w/ +5 All-Out Attack, vs Looking Glass' Def. DC 25 Tou. Reroll (1d20+10=14) Minimum result of 21, at least.
trollthumper Posted January 9, 2012 Author Posted January 9, 2012 And Looking Glass is Bruised and Dazed. Weather Mistress: 27, Unharmed, Dazed (Cannonade's Turn), Staggered, 0 HP Cannonade: 23, Bruised x2, 2 HP Helicopter/Pilot: 20, Unharmed, Pinned, 0 HP Looking Glass: 21, Bruised x1, Dazed (Ironclad's Action), 0 HP Ironclad: 17, Bruised x1, 3 HP Firebug: 14, Unharmed, 0 HP Asad: 10, Unharmed, 2 HP Equinox: 7, Unharmed, 4 HP Chain: N/A, Injured, 0 HP As we're still waiting on Ecal's IC post, I'm holding off on Firebug's action for now.
trollthumper Posted January 9, 2012 Author Posted January 9, 2012 All right, it is now Firebug's turn. He sees that Asad is trying to hold the safe in place, and unleashes a Blast of flame to try and get him to drop it. It hits, meaning Asad needs to make a DC26 Toughness save (on top of the one he made for Weather Mistress's earlier assault). Asad is up next.
TheAbsurdist Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Reflex (1d20+7=15) Well he is holding a safe. TOU vs. Weather Mistress TOU (1d20+15=27) So, HA! TOU vs. Firebug TOU (1d20+15=25) Slightly Toasted. And Grapple Check. Grapple (1d20+25=42) REJECTION! Asad is going to use a Blast on Firebug. Kinetic based. Using All-Out attack, as he really can't dodge, anyway. 1d20+10=30 CRIT! We're gonna go with Increased Effect, so... 1d20+10=30 So, DC 35 TOU save. Asad brings the pain.
trollthumper Posted January 22, 2012 Author Posted January 22, 2012 And Firebug hits the roof. Weather Mistress: 27, Unharmed, Dazed (Cannonade's Turn), Staggered, 0 HP Cannonade: 23, Bruised x2, 2 HP Helicopter/Pilot: 20, Unharmed, Pinned, 0 HP Looking Glass: 21, Bruised x1, Dazed (Ironclad's Action), 0 HP Ironclad: 17, Bruised x1, 3 HP Asad: 10, Bruised x1, 2 HP Equinox: 7, Unharmed, 4 HP Chain: N/A, Injured, 0 HP I'll need to get an IC post up to reflect the actions of Looking Glass and Firebug on their last actions. Then, once Asad gets his up, it's Equinox's turn, and she still needs to make a DC21 Reflex/DC26 Toughness save from the hailstorm.
