Supercape Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 OOC thread for this Steel Shrike, some detective work, and the past... This may be open to others if you discuss with Cube!
Supercape Posted February 6, 2012 Author Posted February 6, 2012 Ok its not a difficult bluff, but on the other hand, Robin is a good detective! For Reference, Robin is: using Police Officer Archetype, M&M, modified: INT to 14 Diplomacy to 2(+2), Intimidate to 4(+4), Sense Motive to 6(+7), Search to 6(+8), and Investigate to 6(+8) Attack and Defence both +4 So, target wants to believe you, a -5 roll. 1d20+7=8 and a -5 penalty is 3! Beat that with your Bluff! ;)
Cube Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 1d20+1=16 Phew! Okay! I need more ranks in bluff.
Supercape Posted February 6, 2012 Author Posted February 6, 2012 Ok Investigation Time! Search Rolls for Clue. Knowledge (Life Sciences) for examining body. DC 20+ Knowledge (Popular Culture) for ? DC 20+ Knowledge (Streetwise) for ? DC 10+ You can take 20 on Search roll if you wish to spend time...As the knowledge rolls are reactions, need rolls!
Cube Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 Search Check (1d20+5=19) K. Life Sciences (1d20+8=17) K. Popular Culture (1d20+8=26) Streetwise (1d20+8=13) Spending a Hero Point... Hero Point Reroll (Life Sciences) (1d20+8=27) Search is meh, but the other ones are good!
Supercape Posted February 6, 2012 Author Posted February 6, 2012 Ok: With Robin Aiding, you find a clue: You fish out a bullet from the wall nearby, and a torn scrap of fibre from a badly repaired drain pipe...someone must have snagged themselves here, maybe escaping in a hurry? Life Sciences: Shot point blank, straight through the heart. The shooter was left handed from the angle of the bullet. In addition, you determine that the Man was about 55, and has injection sites and probably had diabetes. Popular Culture: You remember this man: Winston Wade, a local Jazz player. Not big, but does some gigs around the Fens. Streetwise: Zip.
Supercape Posted February 7, 2012 Author Posted February 7, 2012 Investigate roll for analysing the clue (at your lab, or if you have tools on you...)
Cube Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Investigate: 1d20+5=22 Also... Know (Civics) Check to try and determine who Robin is. Hopefully there's something in his Databases now that he's at home.: 1d20+8=25
Supercape Posted February 9, 2012 Author Posted February 9, 2012 That both more than adequate: Fabric: Firstly, you get a DNA sample from some cells on it. Which are completely human. Again, this would be circumstantial evidence, but you could link it to any samples you get from other people. The fabric itself seems to be a leather jacket. It has a single orange hair on it. Robin Bronze is a detective, has received several commendations for ability, and one or two reprimands for insubordination and "attitude" - although she is generally well thought of in the police community. She worked a few cases (or more, off the records) with your "predecesor".. nothing fishy about her.
Supercape Posted February 11, 2012 Author Posted February 11, 2012 Are you searching for some info online etc? Not sure what the question is...a Gather Info roll might be appropriate...
Cube Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Oh, no. Just trying to contact Robin. I assume I have a means of doing so.
Cube Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 ...I hope I didn't move faster than you were expecting. It's just... Suit Rental. It seemed funny...
Supercape Posted February 12, 2012 Author Posted February 12, 2012 Thats fine by me! Good stuff! Just so I am clear: What is he wearing?, is he masked?, how would people spot if he was a robot? what would people think if they saw him right now?
Cube Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Thats fine by me! Good stuff! Just so I am clear: What is he wearing?, is he masked?, how would people spot if he was a robot? what would people think if they saw him right now? He's masked, yes. Right now, he mostly looks like The Steel Shrike wearing a suit over his costume. Full body "spandex", obvious mask, and a suit. It'd be a bit odd, but he can fake being alive pretty well. He just can't "take off the mask" yet.
Supercape Posted February 24, 2012 Author Posted February 24, 2012 Wasn't quite sure you plan with last IC, you doing some more research back at the HQ...or? (SOunds like Gather Information roll might be coming up...)
Cube Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Oh, yes. Probably a gather information roll, or maybe an autopsy. This whole one on one thing is kind of intimidating, you know?
Supercape Posted February 27, 2012 Author Posted February 27, 2012 Dont worry I dont bite! All I need to know is what you are doing, and I will roll with it, whatever it is, so enjoy the freedom! Much conventional GMing tends towards GM throws problem, Player reacts. I work towards a more jazz react-react-react structure, if that makes sense. HOw do you want to play this - back at HQ? Autopsy: Life Sciences Roll? Gather Info Roll as above? (Taking 10/20 is fine). NB: Let me know if you want change in style, pace, or otherwise make it less intimidating! More feedback you give me, better GM I will be!
Cube Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 I'm not sure what's intimidating, actually. XD Maybe I'm picking up on Shrike's emotions too much. I can take 20 on Life Sciences for a 28. I don't have Gather Information trained yet, but having a substance to identify will help. :D
Cube Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Hrm... I don't have Disable Device... unless I go buy it right now with points. But I can sneak around. I'll start with that. IN THE MEANTIME! Search! (1d20+5=14) ... ...Okay, one of my points is going into search.
Supercape Posted March 13, 2012 Author Posted March 13, 2012 Not much to find, but sending the Foreman your way!
Cube Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Time for DRAMA! Loading the following with my Variable Array. Which was just approved. Enhanced Trait 5 ( Intimidate 4 [+13], Sense Motive 12 [+13], Bluff 4 [+5]) {5/5} Then... Intimidate Check! (1d20+13=23) Woo!
Supercape Posted March 15, 2012 Author Posted March 15, 2012 Going with that working, have posted IC!
Cube Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 Sense Motive Check (1d20+13=29) He's going to win an oscar, that one.
