Power Descriptions: After absorbing the light of the Magdalene's Torch and it finding Melissa worthy, she has the ability to call upon it's power when it is needed. Anything she is wearing burns away and is replaced by a golden bands that cover her whole body, but somehow miraculously allow freedom of movement. The armor is hot to the touch, yet can burn even those unable to be burned. Large wings made of celestial fire jut from the armor's back, allowing her to fly. The celetial armor also gives her great strength.

Even when out of the armor, she has powers. The power of the Magdalene Torch allows her to sense any celestial or infernal being. She will not age or hunger or thirst or need for sleep or even air. She can subsist in any environment. Poisons and diseases will not harm her.

History: Melissa was a small child, sort of scrawny. She kept to her books. She loved history. Whatever history book she could put her hands on she pored through. It was her passion. This continued into her later years when she went into college. She knew her destiny was to see the places in those books up close and personal. To study the ruins and artifacts of ancient civilizations. What really attracted her were holy land places and things. She wanted to see the real story behind the words.

One of Melissa's first digs was quite possibly her last. She has been in a site around Gethsemane for a while when she found something glowing underneath the soil. Not letting her fellows know - she wanted it to be her find - she kept scavaging until she found what looked like a still lit torch. She had neither seen nor heard of such an object. The torchwood was warm to the touch. Somehow, against her better judgement, she picked up the object. The wood was weighty, but when she tried to put it down is when it spoke to her.

"Melissa Hendricks," it said to her. "You are about to be judged by the Magdalene Torch." She was shocked, and to be quite honest, honored. That's when Melissa went up in flames. Her whole body was subsumed by the fire. It Seemed to be reeling through her very soul! When it was done, the torch was gone and so was her clothes! I was replaced by a golden and type suit and fiery wings. She almost expected a halo to appear. The torch spoke to her. "You have been found worth to carry the torch of the Magdalene. You shall defend the people from the evils of Hell."

Automatically knowing what to do, the torch disappeared and Melissa looked around. There were no infernals or celestials here. There WERE very shocked coworkers taking pictures of the whole event. She smiled and nodded. Clearing her throat she told the head of the crew that she would need some time off. He understood. The nest thing she heard from the torch was to find the center of activity. The first place she though was Freedom City. She boarded the first plane she could.

After getting some things sorted out with Freedom University to teach history and the Freedom Lague to do heroics, she was set and ready to take on the forces of darkness. She even took a secret identity to protect herself. Uriel was her new name. The light of God, smiting down evil where ever it was.

Personality & Motivation: In a way, Melissa and Uriel are two different people. Melissa is a scholar and teacher. She's obsessed with all sorts of learning and helping people learn. Be it history or small inconsequential facts of trivia. In her hero form she is much more focused on her true calling, the smiting of evil beings. She puts herself in the way of danger to protect innocents and will not stop until the problem is gone. When she's not fighting evil or preparing for a battle, Uriel is a very calm person. She is much less chatty than Melissa. She will speak when spoken to and only in truths.

Her motivations is built in. She has to fight evil It's her job to do so. That doesn't bother Melissa at all. Sure Melissa would rather be learning and teaching, but her Uriel side gives her much more meaning in life. And that's what she's searching for at the moment. The Meaning. The Meaning of Everything. And besides being a protector, she thinks, nay, KNOWS she will find something.

Powers & Tactics: As the old saying goes "When all you have is a a hammer". Uriel doesn't have a hammer, but she can punch demons and other bad guys with celestial power. And that's what she does. She's not quiet about her job, rushing headlong into battle and making sre everything evil thing is down.
