trollthumper Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 Nick Cimitiere, Penitent, and Revenant all deal with infernalist hijinks.
trollthumper Posted April 22, 2012 Author Posted April 22, 2012 And we're off! Our main boss will be AA's Infernalist Vampire at around PL13, with the weaknesses stripped out, and with 3 Demons brought down to PL8 for backup. Giselle goes on 17. The Demons go on 9, 3, and 10. Nick goes on 11.
trollthumper Posted April 22, 2012 Author Posted April 22, 2012 Time for Hell on wheels. Giselle: 17, Unharmed, 0 HP Revenant: 14, Unharmed, 1 HP Nick Cimitiere: 11, Unharmed, 3 HP Demon 1: 10, Unharmed, 0 HP Demon 2: 9, Unharmed, 0 HP Penitent: 6, Unharmed, 1 HP Demon 3: 3, Unharmed, 0 HP Giselle goes first, and swings a flaming chain at Nick. It hits, so Nick needs to make a DC30 Toughness save. And, ouch. Hero Point! That's much better. Revenant is up next.
Tiffany Korta Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Straight forward attack to start on Demon 1 1d20+11=27, that's a DC 26 Toughness save.
trollthumper Posted April 24, 2012 Author Posted April 24, 2012 The first Demon takes a Bruise. Giselle: 17, Unharmed, 0 HP Revenant: 14, Unharmed, 1 HP Nick Cimitiere: 11, Unharmed, 2 HP Demon 1: 10, Bruised x1, 0 HP Demon 2: 9, Unharmed, 0 HP Penitent: 6, Unharmed, 1 HP Demon 3: 3, Unharmed, 0 HP Nick's turn, and he unleashes Ignis Fatuus on Giselle. It hits, requiring a DC24 Will save. Which she makes. The two Demons go next, going after Nick and Revenant. Demon 1 attempts a Strike on Revenant, while Demon 2 flings hellfire at Nick. Demon 1 misses, and Demon 2 likewise misses. Penitent is up next.
Shofet Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 1d20+12=21 Brimstone flames on Demon Numero Uno. DC 27 TOU.
trollthumper Posted April 24, 2012 Author Posted April 24, 2012 And Demon 1 is Dazed and Staggered. Giselle: 17, Unharmed, 0 HP Revenant: 14, Unharmed, 1 HP Nick Cimitiere: 11, Unharmed, 2 HP Demon 1: 10, Bruised x1, Dazed (Penitent's Action), Staggered, 0 HP Demon 2: 9, Unharmed, 0 HP Penitent: 6, Unharmed, 1 HP Demon 3: 3, Unharmed, 0 HP Demon 3 decides to go after Penitent with a Strike. Or not. So, top of the round. Giselle takes off in a blaze, using her Damage Area Trail to hit everyone in the area who's standing between her and Harold. It's Targeted, and she uses the Accurate Attack maneuver for +2 ATT/-2 DMG. That's a 21, meaning Nick just barely misses it but it hits Revenant and Penitent, requiring a DC28 Toughness save from each. Revenant is up next.
Shofet Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 1d20+13=18 Oh, balls. Hero pointing it up. 1d20=9, but since I can't get below ten, that nine becomes a 19, meaning I scored 32. Completely unharmed.
Tiffany Korta Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 Toughness Save 1d20+11=27, so just scrapped a Injured, but... Free Action : Regenerate away the wound Standard Action : Attack Demon 1 1d20+11=14, or not.
trollthumper Posted April 25, 2012 Author Posted April 25, 2012 Giselle: 17, Unharmed, 0 HP Revenant: 14, Unharmed, 1 HP Nick Cimitiere: 11, Unharmed, 2 HP Demon 1: 10, Bruised x1, Dazed (Penitent's Action), Staggered, 0 HP Demon 2: 9, Unharmed, 0 HP Penitent: 6, Unharmed, 0 HP Demon 3: 3, Unharmed, 0 HP At this point, Nick decides "Screw the flame" and busts out the talons, closing the distance with Giselle in order to take a swing at her, Accurate Attacking for +2 ATT/-2 DMG. Goddamnit, IC. So Demon 1 is still Dazed, and Demon 2 takes a swing at Nick now that he's come to a complete stop. It misses, too. Giselle: 17, Unharmed, 0 HP Revenant: 14, Unharmed, 1 HP Nick Cimitiere: 11, Unharmed, 2 HP Demon 1: 10, Bruised x1, Staggered, 0 HP Demon 2: 9, Unharmed, 0 HP Penitent: 6, Unharmed, 0 HP Demon 3: 3, Unharmed, 0 HP Penitent is up next.
Shofet Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 1d20+12=20 Brimstone Flames on Giselle. DC 27 TOU check, please.
trollthumper Posted April 25, 2012 Author Posted April 25, 2012 The blast just misses Giselle, as she's at PL13 and has her Defense adjusted to +11. The flaming velociraptor attacks with a Blast for Penitent, Yeah, no. Top of Round 3, and it's time for Harold to get off his ass. For Harold, we'll be using my Hermetic Force-Binder, as built. He goes on 24. Harold: 24, Unharmed, 0 HP Giselle: 17, Unharmed, 0 HP Revenant: 14, Unharmed, 1 HP Nick Cimitiere: 11, Unharmed, 2 HP Demon 1: 10, Bruised x1, Staggered, 0 HP Demon 2: 9, Unharmed, 0 HP Penitent: 6, Unharmed, 0 HP Demon 3: 3, Unharmed, 0 HP He unleashes a Stun at Giselle, which hits. There's no Fort save on AA's Infernalist Vampire (because... Vampire), but we'll say that it's +8, less than her adjusted Reflex and Will. And she makes the Fortitude save. She responds by unleashing a Blast right at Harold, and hits. That's a DC30 Toughness save for Harold, and he's Dazed and Staggered. Thanks for trying, Harold. Harold: 24, Dazed (Giselle's Action), Staggered, 0 HP Giselle: 17, Unharmed, 0 HP Revenant: 14, Unharmed, 1 HP Nick Cimitiere: 11, Unharmed, 2 HP Demon 1: 10, Bruised x1, Staggered, 0 HP Demon 2: 9, Unharmed, 0 HP Penitent: 6, Unharmed, 0 HP Demon 3: 3, Unharmed, 0 HP Revenant is up next.
Tiffany Korta Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Okay let's finish Demon 1 off, another basic attack 1d20+11=18, so another Toughness 26 save.
trollthumper Posted April 26, 2012 Author Posted April 26, 2012 And the Demon is dead. Harold: 24, Dazed (Giselle's Action), Staggered, 0 HP Giselle: 17, Unharmed, 0 HP Revenant: 14, Unharmed, 1 HP Nick Cimitiere: 11, Unharmed, 2 HP Demon 2: 9, Unharmed, 0 HP Penitent: 6, Unharmed, 0 HP Demon 3: 3, Unharmed, 0 HP Nick, meanwhile, says "Screw this" and tries to get everyone in a Grapple via Poltergeist's Rage. His Opposed Grapple is a 30, down to 27 for everyone who makes a DC17 Reflex save. Giselle makes it, as does one of the Demons. As for the Opposed Grapple... well, Giselle's Super-Strength function isn't active, so that should help. And she is Pinned. The Demons, meanwhile, are both Bound. Harold: 24, Dazed (Giselle's Action), Staggered, 0 HP Giselle: 17, Unharmed, Pinned, 0 HP Revenant: 14, Unharmed, 1 HP Nick Cimitiere: 11, Unharmed, 2 HP Demon 2: 9, Unharmed, Bound, 0 HP Penitent: 6, Unharmed, 0 HP Demon 3: 3, Unharmed, Bound, 0 HP Demon 2 tries to break the bond as a Move Action. He scores a 10, which cannot possibly beat Nick's Opposed Grapple modifier in any way. As a reminder, Pinned characters are at a -4 to Defense on top of their lost dodge bonus, and Bound characters are Helpless and can thus be targeted for a melee coup de grace as a full action. Penitent is up next.
trollthumper Posted April 26, 2012 Author Posted April 26, 2012 And Giselle is Bruised and Dazed. Harold: 24, Dazed (Giselle's Action), Staggered, 0 HP Giselle: 17, Bruised x1, Dazed (Penitent's Action), Pinned, 0 HP Revenant: 14, Unharmed, 1 HP Nick Cimitiere: 11, Unharmed, 2 HP Demon 2: 9, Unharmed, Bound, 0 HP Penitent: 6, Unharmed, 0 HP Demon 3: 3, Unharmed, Bound, 0 HP Demon 3 attempts to escape his bonds as a Move Action. He scores a 24 versus Nick's 23, so he's free. He throws a bolt of flame at Nick, but misses. Harold: 24, Dazed (Giselle's Action), Staggered, 0 HP Giselle: 17, Bruised x1, Dazed (Penitent's Action), Pinned, 0 HP Revenant: 14, Unharmed, 1 HP Nick Cimitiere: 11, Unharmed, 2 HP Demon 2: 9, Unharmed, Bound, 0 HP Penitent: 6, Unharmed, 0 HP Demon 3: 3, Unharmed, 0 HP Top of the round! Harold is still Dazed, but that drops at the end of his turn. Giselle is still Dazed, and that's not dropping any time soon. Revenant is up next.
Tiffany Korta Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 I'm going to make a grab at Demon 3 and if I suceed send said demon towards our Griselle. Attack Roll 1d20+11=18 Grapple Roll 1d20+8=20 Attack Roll for the throw 1d20+8=20 I'll see how far along I get before I post IC.
trollthumper Posted April 26, 2012 Author Posted April 26, 2012 All right. The attack will hit Demon 3, who is Bound. So, he gets thrown and hits Giselle, resulting in a DC25 TOU save for both (given Revenant's STR bonus). Demon 3 makes his Toughness save, Giselle... does not. Harold: 24, Dazed (Giselle's Action), Staggered, 0 HP Giselle: 17, Bruised x1, Dazed (Revenant's Action), Staggered, Pinned, 0 HP Revenant: 14, Unharmed, 1 HP Nick Cimitiere: 11, Unharmed, 2 HP Demon 2: 9, Unharmed, Bound, 0 HP Penitent: 6, Unharmed, 0 HP Demon 3: 3, Unharmed, 0 HP Nick takes a free action to maintain the grapple, and because Revenant had the right idea, he's going to pitch Demon 2 at Giselle, using Power Attack for -5/+5 on his TK 7. As Giselle is still Pinned, that hits (for reference, she's got a Defense DC of 9 until the grapple is broken), so... DC27 Toughness for both. Demon 2 is Dazed and Staggered, while Giselle takes another Bruise. Harold: 24, Dazed (Giselle's Action), Staggered, 0 HP Giselle: 17, Bruised x2, Dazed (Revenant's Action), Staggered, Pinned, 0 HP Revenant: 14, Unharmed, 1 HP Nick Cimitiere: 11, Unharmed, 2 HP Demon 2: 9, Unharmed, Dazed (Nick Cimitiere's Action), Staggered, 0 HP Penitent: 6, Unharmed, 0 HP Demon 3: 3, Unharmed, 0 HP Demon 2 cannot act, so Penitent goes once TK gets an IC post up for Revenant.
Shofet Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 1d20+10=14 Punch on Demon Number 3. IC is really messing with me in this one.
trollthumper Posted April 28, 2012 Author Posted April 28, 2012 Demon 3 uses the Accurate Attack Maneuver this round in a desperate attempt to hit Penitent. And it still fails. These things have done more damage to Giselle than they have on her behalf. Harold: 24, Staggered, 0 HP Giselle: 17, Bruised x2, Dazed (Revenant's Action), Staggered, Pinned, 0 HP Revenant: 14, Unharmed, 1 HP Nick Cimitiere: 11, Unharmed, 2 HP Demon 2: 9, Unharmed, Dazed (Nick Cimitiere's Action), Staggered, 0 HP Penitent: 6, Unharmed, 0 HP Demon 3: 3, Unharmed, 0 HP Harold is up next, and... one of the trickier parts of a collateral damage-based NPC is what happens when their fellow heroes get in melee range. So Harold throws out another Stun at Gizelle, this time Power Attacking for -5/+5. It hits the Pinned Giselle, and she needs to make a DC25 Fortitude save. Which she does. Wow, you'd think that horse would serve as more of a lightning rod. Harold: 24, Staggered, 0 HP Giselle: 17, Bruised x2, Dazed (Revenant's Action), Staggered, Pinned, 0 HP Revenant: 14, Unharmed, 1 HP Nick Cimitiere: 11, Unharmed, 2 HP Demon 2: 9, Unharmed, Dazed (Nick Cimitiere's Action), Staggered, 0 HP Penitent: 6, Unharmed, 0 HP Demon 3: 3, Unharmed, 0 HP Giselle is Dazed this turn, but it drops once her action passes. So, Revenant is up next.
Tiffany Korta Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 Use my move action to get on the horse to deliver a Head-Butt attack! That would be a standard attack, to hit, 1d20+11=31. Must be a solid head! . Let's take the extra 5 for a Toughness save for DC 31.
trollthumper Posted April 29, 2012 Author Posted April 29, 2012 And Giselle goes down, hard. Harold: 24, Staggered, 0 HP Revenant: 14, Unharmed, 1 HP Nick Cimitiere: 11, Unharmed, 2 HP Demon 2: 9, Unharmed, Dazed (Nick Cimitiere's Action), Staggered, 0 HP Penitent: 6, Unharmed, 0 HP Demon 3: 3, Unharmed, 0 HP Nick's turn. He turns and chops up Demon 2, using Accurate Attack for +2 ATT/-2 DMG. That hits, for DC29 Toughness. And it's down, too. Harold: 24, Staggered, 0 HP Revenant: 14, Unharmed, 1 HP Nick Cimitiere: 11, Unharmed, 2 HP Penitent: 6, Unharmed, 0 HP Demon 3: 3, Unharmed, 0 HP Penitent is up next.
Shofet Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 1d20+5=20 Power stomp on Demon #3. DC 34 TOU check.
