trollthumper
Nick Cimitiere, Ghost Girl and Wraith deal with an extremely weird smuggling ring. Link to comment
trollthumper
Playing the part of the basilisk shall be AA's Medusa, with stats raised to PL13 - Attack +9 (+13 Unarmed), Defense +13 (+4 Flat-Footed), TOU +13, FORT +13, REF +9, WILL +11, and damage to match. The Basilisk goes on 26. Nick goes on 23. Link to comment
trollthumper
And here's our order: Basilisk: 26, Unharmed, 0 HP Nick Cimitiere: 23, Unharmed, 4 HP Wraith: 20, Unharmed, 3 HP Ghost Girl: 13, Unharmed, 3 HP So the basilisk is up first. As Nick has his eyes wrenched shut, it tries to catch him with its deadly bite instead. It hits his Defense, necessitating a DC28 Toughness save. Ouch. Hero Point! That's a 28 with reroll. So Nick decides to respond with Ereshkigal's Talons... but he's effectively Blinded, meaning he has a 50% miss chance. And as he rolls high, the attack misses automatically. Basilisk: 26, Unharmed, 0 HP Nick Cimitiere: 23, Unharmed, 3 HP Wraith: 20, Unharmed, 3 HP Ghost Girl: 13, Unharmed, 3 HP Wraith is up next. Link to comment
Fox
Standard Wraith opener: Move action: Shapeshift to standard combat mode: Elongation 2 (10ft) [2pp] Speed 1 (10mph / 100 feet per Move Action) [1pp] Strike 5 (Feats: Improved Critical [19-20], Mighty) [7pp] [2 + 1 + 7 = 10/10pp] Standard action: Charge! Melee Attack Roll vs. Basilisk (Accurate Attack +2/-2, Charge +2) (1d20 + 10 + 2 + 2=31) Naturally, every time she tries to power attack, the trade-off costs her the hit...but when she does an accurate attack, it's completely unnecessary! DC23 Tou save for the basilisk. Wraith is at -2 Defense for one round. Link to comment
trollthumper
The basilisk is Bruised. Basilisk: 26, Bruised x1, 0 HP Nick Cimitiere: 23, Unharmed, 3 HP Wraith: 20, Unharmed, 3 HP Ghost Girl: 13, Unharmed, 3 HP Ghost Girl is up next. Link to comment
Gizmo
Ghost Girl Move Action: Fly to basilisk. Standard Action: Drain Strength vs. Basilisk. (1d20+12=31) Hero Point: Power Stunt Improved Critical to turn that natural 19 into a crit. That makes it a DC 27 Fortitude Save! Link to comment
trollthumper
It rolls rather well, but is still down somewhat. Basilisk: 26, Bruised x1, -3 Strength, 0 HP Nick Cimitiere: 23, Unharmed, 3 HP Wraith: 20, Unharmed, 3 HP Ghost Girl: 13, Unharmed, 3 HP The basilisk attempts to frighten Wraith as a Move Action. It scores a 17 on its Intimidate roll. It then attempts to Transform her from flesh to stone. Yeah, funny about that... it requires flesh. So, that's its turn down. Once we get an IC post from Kimber and a post from Nick, it's Wraith's turn. Link to comment
Fox
Not that it's likely to matter with the thing trying use flesh-to-stone on someone without flesh, but for posterity: Will Check vs. Intimidate (1d20 + 7=20) She's just too happy to be scared! Link to comment
trollthumper
huh. I forgot that Nick has a turn, too. So he is going to wrench his eyes open and attempt to sweep at the thing with Ereshkigal's Talons again. And even with his eyes open, he still misses. Oh, well. Wraith is up next, for real this time. Fox
Rather than properly attack, Wraith's going to go ahead and aid Ghost Girl's attack instead. Teamwork! Aid Attack (aiding Ghost Girl), DC10 (1d20 + 10=26) She's near-incapable of failing aid attack actions, but gotta roll just in case you get a 1.... Ghost Girl gets either a +2 attack bonus or a +2 defense against the basilisk on her next turn. Wraith takes her move action to properly elongate, boosting her reach (for all that it matters in close melee). Link to comment
Gizmo
Ghost Girl Standard Action:Drain Strength vs. Basilisk; Power Attack 5, Aid +2. (1d20+9=11) Ffft. Well, hopefully some Complications'll come up later in the thread. Drain Strength vs. Basilisk; Power Attack 5, Aid +2, HP reroll. (1d20+9=27) That'll be DC 27. Link to comment
trollthumper
-11, then. Basilisk: 26, Bruised x1, -11 Strength, 0 HP Nick Cimitiere: 23, Unharmed, 3 HP Wraith: 20, Unharmed, 3 HP Ghost Girl: 13, Unharmed, 2 HP The Basilisk takes a swing at Nick Cimitiere, Power Attacking for -5/+5 and bringing its damaged Damage up to +12. It manages to hit, which results in a DC27 Toughness save. Ow. Hero Point, again. That's a 28, so he's good. Basilisk: 26, Bruised x1, -11 Strength, 0 HP Nick Cimitiere: 23, Unharmed, 2 HP Wraith: 20, Unharmed, 3 HP Ghost Girl: 13, Unharmed, 2 HP Wraith is up next, once Giz and I get posts up. Fox
Wraith shapeshifts: Additional Limbs 3 (+5 Limbs; Flaws: Duration [sustained]) [3pp] Elongation 3 (25ft) [3pp] Super-Strength 2 (+10 STR) [4pp] [3 + 3 + 4 = 10/10pp] Hugs! Melee Attack Roll vs. Basilisk (Grapple) (1d20 + 10=25) 10 attack (melee) + 5 strength bonus + 3 + 3 + 2 = +23 Grapple. Grapple Check vs. Basilisk (1d20 + 23=35) Huuuuuuuuugs! IC post pending the basilisk's check. Link to comment
trollthumper
And the basilisk is Bound. Basilisk: 26, Bruised x1, -11 Strength, Bound, 0 HP Nick Cimitiere: 23, Unharmed, 2 HP Wraith: 20, Unharmed, 3 HP Ghost Girl: 13, Unharmed, 2 HP Ghost Girl is up next. Link to comment
Gizmo
Ghost Girl Standard Action: Emotion Control [Despair] vs. Basilisk. The basilisk needs to be looking at her for this to work, which feels suitably ironic. It's a DC 22 Will Save, after the DC 22 Reflex Save, of course. Link to comment
trollthumper
Basilisk fails the Reflex save, passes the Will save. Basilisk: 26, Bruised x1, -10 Strength, Bound, 0 HP Nick Cimitiere: 23, Unharmed, 2 HP Wraith: 20, Unharmed, 3 HP Ghost Girl: 13, Unharmed, 2 HP The Basilisk will not attempt to break the Grapple, but instead to try and Transform Nick. That's Perception, so it hits, and Nick needs to make DC23 Reflex and Fortitude saves. He fails the Reflex save, but makes the Fortitude save. Phew. He then attempts to knock the thing about with his claws. And he misses. Again. Goddamnit. Wraith is up next. EDIT: Wow. I forgot the snake was Bound. So Nick did hit it last round. But it still makes its Toughness save, so it doesn't really matter. Link to comment
Fox
Standard action: Grapple! Grapple Check vs. Basilisk (1d20 + 23=42) Wraith is best at hugging. Link to comment
trollthumper
Does Wraith wish to damage it, throw it, or do something else? Link to comment
Fox
Ah, sorry, that was probably unclear - she'd making another standard-action grapple check to try to upgrade the grapple to Bound & Helpless. Link to comment
trollthumper
Ah. See, Bound automatically means Helpless. Link to comment
Fox
D'oh. I'm an idiot, and misread the current status of the grapple - probably got turned around when it attacked. I think this is the first time Wraith's fought something capable of doing useful things while bound. Never mind that roll, then. Wraith will just give the thing a nice squeeze - DC20 Toughness. trollthumper
And the Basilisk takes another Bruise. Basilisk: 26, Bruised x2, -10 Strength, Bound, 0 HP Nick Cimitiere: 23, Unharmed, 2 HP Wraith: 20, Unharmed, 3 HP Ghost Girl: 13, Unharmed, 2 HP Ghost Girl is up next. Link to comment
