Chumpsteady Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 Can you change the save on Area? It doesn't make sense for someone to "jump out of the way" of something that affects your brain.
Raveled Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 What exactly are you trying to model? Some sort of large-area telekinesis would totally still be Reflex, since it's essentially still a big object trying to flatten you. Something like an area Mental Blast, where you're trying to overload all the minds in an area, might be better handled with a Targetted AoE rather than a General one. Lastly, some kind of grenade that scrambles living minds when it 'explodes' would still be Reflex, because you're trying to jump out of the way of a grenade.
Supercape Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 The answer is no, you can't change save on an Area from Reflex. However, Perception Range Area affects allow no Reflex save to half the DC. This is probably what you are looking for if you are thinking of a psionic attack (such as mental blast, mind control, etc).
trollthumper Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 Well, there is a way to change the save, but it means making a Targeted Area Blast rather than an Area Blast. Instead of being an "insta-hit, roll Reflex to halve," it's straight-up "Attack vs. Defense."
