trollthumper Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Temperance makes her heroic debut, runs into Wail, and deals with Rant, Rave... and other weirdness.
trollthumper Posted June 21, 2012 Author Posted June 21, 2012 And we're in Initiative! Rant and Rave will be played by AA's Screaming Hero and Hippie Hero, as built. Rant goes on 26. Rave goes on 20. Temperance goes on 26.
trollthumper Posted June 21, 2012 Author Posted June 21, 2012 We have our order. Rant: 26, Unharmed, 0 HP Temperance: 26, Unharmed, 2 HP Rave: 20, Unharmed, 0 HP Wail: 14, Unharmed, 3 HP Rant starts off by screaming at Temperance, launching a Blast at her. It just manages to hit her Defense, and she needs to make a DC25 Toughness save. She's Bruised and Dazed. Hero Point! There we go. Rant: 26, Unharmed, 0 HP Temperance: 26, Unharmed, 1 HP Rave: 20, Unharmed, 0 HP Wail: 14, Unharmed, 3 HP Temperance responds by launching a Blast of ice at Rant. It manages to hit his Defense, necessitating a DC23 Toughness save. He gets Bruised and Dazed. Rant: 26, Bruised x1, Dazed (Temperance's Action), 0 HP Temperance: 26, Unharmed, 1 HP Rave: 20, Unharmed, 0 HP Wail: 14, Unharmed, 3 HP Rave sees her brother getting beat on and responds. She launches her combo Emotion Control and Stun power, focusing on Fear and giving not one crap about the other civilians. Both Wail and Temperance gain a Hero Point for civilians being in danger; Temperance needs to make a DC20 Will save and a DC20 Fortitude save, both preceded by a DC20 Reflex save to see if she avoids them entirely due to Sense-Dependent. Wail needs to make a similar save, if he's down on the ground at this point. Temperance manages to avoid the Emotion Control, and the Stun. Lucky girl. Wail is up next.
Gizmo Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 Wail Move Action: Arrive on the scene! Standard Action: Fearsome Roar. Emotion Control 13 (Extras: Area [General, Burst, 60ft radius], Linked [Trip], Flaws: Limited [Fear], Range 2 [Touch]) [7PP] + Trip 13 (Extras: Area [General, Burst], Linked [Emotion Control], Flaws: Range [Touch], Feats: Improved Trip) [14PP] (Fearsome Roar) [21PP] That's a DC 23 Will Save and the worst of Dexterity or Strength against an Opposed Trip Check. (1d20+13=32) after the DC 23 Reflex Save for the Area effect. Unfortunately, it is not Selective, but at least it doesn't cause any collateral damage!
trollthumper Posted June 22, 2012 Author Posted June 22, 2012 All right, that's going to hit Rant, Rave, and Temperance, as well as the civilians. The civilians, being Bystanders, can't really make either of those; they're already afraid but can't move, so they all go Prone. Rant makes his Will save, fails his Reflex save, goes Prone. Rave gets Shaken, fails her Reflex save, and goes very, very Prone. Temperance fails her Will save by 10, meaning she should be panicking. Hero Point! She's just Shaken instead, likely because she's seen her teacher. She then makes her Reflex save and still goes Prone. Rant: 26, Bruised x1, Dazed (Temperance's Action), Prone 0 HP Temperance: 26, Unharmed, Prone, Shaken, 1 HP Rave: 20, Unharmed, Prone, Shaken, 0 HP Wail: 14, Unharmed, 4 HP Rant is still Dazed, so he's doing nothing. Temperance pulls herself up as a Move Action, then attempts to catch Rave in a frosty Snare. Given that Rave is Prone and Temperance is Shaken, this likely has a snowball's chance in Hell of hitting, but let's give it a shot. Well, she's not Flat-Footed, so that definitely misses. Close enough, though. Rave then decides to pull herself up as a Move Action, and uses her Emotion Control + Stun power as a Standard Action. DC20 Will and Fortitude, plus DC20 Reflex for each due to Sense-Dependent, for Temperance and Wail. Temperance fails the first Reflex save, has her Shaken refresh. She then fails the second Reflex save, and is Dazed. Damnit. Rant: 26, Bruised x1, Prone, 0 HP Temperance: 26, Unharmed, Dazed (Rave's Action), Shaken, 1 HP Rave: 20, Unharmed, Shaken, 0 HP Wail: 14, Unharmed, 4 HP Wail is up next.
Gizmo Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 Reflex Save vs. DC 20. (1d20+5=11) Fearless beats out the Emotion Control. Fortitude Save vs. DC 20. (1d20+12=30)
Gizmo Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Wail Move Action: Move to Rave. Standard Action: Initiate Grapple. (1d20+8=11) Hero Point: Initiate Grapple, HP Reroll. (1d20+8=23) Opposed Grapple Check. (1d20+23=35)
trollthumper Posted June 26, 2012 Author Posted June 26, 2012 Rave is Bound, as she would have been in nearly any scenario. Rant: 26, Bruised x1, Prone, 0 HP Temperance: 26, Unharmed, Dazed (Rave's Action), Shaken, 1 HP Rave: 20, Unharmed, Bound, 0 HP Wail: 14, Unharmed, 3 HP Rant pulls himself up and launches a sonic Blast at Wail. He does not have Precise Shot, so he takes a -4. And misses wildly. Rant: 26, Bruised x1, 0 HP Temperance: 26, Unharmed, Dazed (Rave's Action), Shaken, 1 HP Rave: 20, Unharmed, Bound, 0 HP Wail: 14, Unharmed, 3 HP Temperance is up, and she decides to spend an HP to shake off her Dazed condition. She then decides to hurl blocks of ice at Rant. She scores a 25 (sorry, 23 when adjusting for Shaken) against his 22, and he needs to make a DC23 Toughness save. He makes his save . Rant: 26, Bruised x1, 0 HP Temperance: 26, Unharmed, Shaken, 0 HP Rave: 20, Unharmed, Bound, 0 HP Wail: 14, Unharmed, 3 HP Rave then attempts to throw up an illusory fire all around the gathering. This will result in chaos, as you might imagine, and requires a DC20 Will save from both Wail and Temperance. Temperance falls for it. Hero Point for civilian chaos. Rant: 26, Bruised x2, 0 HP Temperance: 26, Unharmed, 1 HP Rave: 20, Unharmed, Bound, 0 HP Wail: 14, Unharmed, 4 HP Wail is up next.
Gizmo Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 I'll just wait for the IC post for the rest of the fight!
Gizmo Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Will Save vs. DC 20. (1d20+10=16) Wail Free Action: Maintain Grapple Standard Action: Unarmed Attack; Power Attack 5. (1d20+3=10) Since Rave is bound, her Defense should be 5. That's a DC 33 Toughness Save. If that knocks here, out, he'll use his move action to head over the Rant, assuming the illusion ends.
trollthumper Posted June 29, 2012 Author Posted June 29, 2012 Rave is Dazed and Staggered. She needs to make a DC23 Concentration check (or WIS check, as the case may be) to maintain her Illusion. Nope, the fires go down. Rant: 26, Bruised x2, 0 HP Temperance: 26, Unharmed, 1 HP Rave: 20, Unharmed, Staggered, Dazed (Wail's Action), Bound, 0 HP Wail: 14, Unharmed, 4 HP Rant gets really angry, decides to shout about it. He aims at Temperance, misses wildly. Temperance decides to unleash another volley of icy doom. This time, she's using the Accurate Attack maneuver for +2/-2. Nice. So, let's see... DC21 for the base attack + 5 for the crit + 3 for the Autofire on the altered Blast = DC29 for Rant. And Rant is Bruised and Dazed again. Rant: 26, Bruised x3, Dazed (Temperance's Action), 0 HP Temperance: 26, Unharmed, 1 HP Rave: 20, Unharmed, Staggered, Dazed (Wail's Action), Bound, 0 HP Wail: 14, Unharmed, 4 HP Rave is... doing nothing. Wail is up next.
Gizmo Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 Wail Free Action: Maintain Grapple. Standard Action: Sonic Wail; Accurate Attack 5, All-Out Attack 5. (1d20+13=18) Hero Point: Sonic Wail; Accurate Attack 5, All-Out Attack 5, HP Reroll. (1d20+13=26) That's a DC33 Toughness Save for Rant.
trollthumper Posted July 1, 2012 Author Posted July 1, 2012 And his Daze refreshes and he is Staggered. Rant: 26, Bruised x3, Dazed (Wail's Action), Staggered, 0 HP Temperance: 26, Unharmed, 1 HP Rave: 20, Unharmed, Staggered, Bound, 0 HP Wail: 14, Unharmed, 3 HP Temperance notes that Rave is moving again, so she attempts to hit her. She's got a Defense of 5, so it's going to hit as long as she doesn't roll a 1, even with the -4 from firing into melee. Hey, look at that, Autofire is fun. So, that's DC27 total. She is Bruised. Dang, these guys keep rolling high on Toughness. Rant: 26, Bruised x3, Dazed (Wail's Action), Staggered, 0 HP Temperance: 26, Unharmed, 1 HP Rave: 20, Bruised x1, Staggered, Bound, 0 HP Wail: 14, Unharmed, 3 HP Rave decides to bust out another Emotion Control/Stun combo. For Temperance and Wail, DC20 Reflex to avoid both entirely, DC20 Fortitude to resist the first, DC20 Will to resist the second. Temperance avoids the Stun, and the Emotion Control. Hooray for high rolls going both ways! Wail is up next.
Gizmo Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 Wail Reflex Save vs. DC 20. (1d20+5=8) Fortitude Save vs. DC 20. (1d20+12=31) Will Save vs. DC 20. (1d20+10=15) Crud. Which is that, then?
Gizmo Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Blarg. Shaken, then. Fine. Wail Free Action: Maintain Grapple. Standard Action: Opposed Grapple Check to cover Rave's mouth and stop her powers. Opposed Grapple Check vs Rave; -2 Shaken. (1d20+21=22) For @#$%-- okay. Opposed Grapple Check vs Rave; -2 Shaken, HP Reroll. (1d20+21=22) ...I kid you not. Alright, with +10 that's 32.
trollthumper Posted July 3, 2012 Author Posted July 3, 2012 That will do it. Rant: 26, Bruised x3, Staggered, 0 HP Temperance: 26, Unharmed, 1 HP Rave: 20, Bruised x1, Staggered, Bound, Unable to Use Powers, 0 HP Wail: 14, Unharmed, 3 HP Rant is up, and as he got knocked off the platform, he's taking his action to get up as a Move Action. Temperance decides to get around the stage as a Move Action and, with Rant in sight, launch a Snare. Which misses. Damnit, Hero Point. Huh. That was remarkably worth it. That's a DC23 Reflex save for Rant. And he is Bound. Rant: 26, Bruised x3, Staggered, Bound, 0 HP Temperance: 26, Unharmed, 0 HP Rave: 20, Bruised x1, Staggered, Bound, Unable to Use Powers, 0 HP Wail: 14, Unharmed, 3 HP It's at this point, after much property destruction, that Rave decides to tap out - and Rant goes along with her. We're out of rounds.
trollthumper Posted July 28, 2012 Author Posted July 28, 2012 And Notice check for Wail and Temperance. Temperance gets an 18.
trollthumper Posted July 31, 2012 Author Posted July 31, 2012 Both Wail and Temperance notice that the street outside is still pretty torn up - which wouldn't be that unusual, but it's been long enough that the reparative process controlled by Doctor Metropolis would usually kick off by this point.
Gizmo Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 Should I know who 'Sullivan' is? I feel like I should but it's not ringing any bells.
trollthumper Posted September 10, 2012 Author Posted September 10, 2012 Wail would know that there's a Sullivan and Sons junkyard down in Lincoln. He's run into a few would-be supervillains trying to assemble battlesuits from wrecked cars over the years.
Gizmo Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Can Wail get in a surprise round here? I'm not sure how stealthy their entrance really was! (As an aside, I described him carrying her over the fence when he jumped. Should take that bit out?)
trollthumper Posted September 18, 2012 Author Posted September 18, 2012 Wail can easily get a surprise round, and I'd say take that bit out. Eliza might feel a bit awkward about being hauled around by her teacher.
