We don't need to roll initiative yet unless Nightrival intends to make a threatening movement, where that's defined as something other than backing away from the gnome. :P This gnome's the sort what gets a lair.

I hope the gnome has a badger and bag of gold under his chair. :D

I rolled a 21 for initiative but I'm going to take a delayed action. If the gnome attacks Nightrival, he's going to give the little guy a righteous kick to the head.

Absolutely not! Good to have you back. I don't think I did anything that Sen wouldn't have, but correct me if I'm wrong. I'm giving you or Shadowboxer the next post here.

Nah, but I thought you might use it as bait and steal it back. Another possibility is that the demon curse is so bad that you can't be rid of the sword for long, though that would probably require a power feat.

Well there is something in what you say here. The sword is malignant but somewhat aware. If there are Tolkein's incorruptible goody goody elves it would not consent to remain for long and would conspire to get itself into more malleable hands. Though there really isn't an RP way around the responsibility complication that would allow him to consider parting with the blade. Maybe a wager.

It's time for some running! Please make a Constitution check for the initial run out of the city. We'll have a couple more before we catch the elves, unless someone comes up with a better plan than running around looking for them.

Hub's first result is a 14, shown here.

You make a good point. Sen's training allows him to run much faster than a normal person. Assuming that he's remaining at our speed, he doesn't have to make Constitution checks for running all-out. If he goes up to his top speed, he'll have a better chance of catching the elves by himself, but then he'd have to hold them on his own (or be the only one to ask them questions).

If you're going at your top speed (that is, running all-out), then you have to make Constitution checks as normal once you exceed your Constitution. I can't tell how fast you are going from your post. If you take breaks, such as waiting at the gate, then you'd only have to make the Constitution check if you had been running long enough beforehand. It's not that far to a gate, so you'd only need to make a check if you were taking an indirect route.

Kevin's the only one negatively affected right now, specifically, fatigued. Slathliss looked bad, but wasn't. All of them (with the exception of Kevin) are currently Boosted, with the most pertinent part being the +6 to Constitution (and +3 to Constitution checks). Then again, the Wisdom bonus helps out on Notice checks, and that's what we'll need from the folks searching. If Nightrival and Sen take Kevin's suggestion, they'll both be making their Notice checks as they run around, trying to spot the elves.

Both of you guys can give me a Knowledge (arcane lore) check if it's trained. You can also have a Sense Motive check to gauge how likely the elves are to attack (which also counts as a use of Assessment for those who have the feat).

Sen's Knowledge check wasn't enough to hit the DC, but both of you succeeded on the Sense Motive check. The elves were surprised by the two of you coming up on them, and they reacted in a coordinated fashion based on the threat that you could have posed, having come from two directions to block off their escape. That neither of you have weapons drawn and don't appear to be wizards is working in your favor.

Overall, they are roughly between Sen and Nightrival in terms of offensive and defensive skill, with the exception of the female elf who is Nightrival's level or slightly higher. The two of them could probably defeat her working together, but it would be hard (extremely hard with the other elves also joining in).
