Life Moves Pretty Fast (IC)

Having seen the villainess' hesitancy to fight, Velocity had been willing to try to give her the benefit of the doubt. But when the speedster saw her tense up, she realized this was not likely to end easily. She still decided to give her one last opportunity to just surrender.

With a flash of movement, Velocity had closed the distance between her and the blue clad woman. "Okay, I'll take it easy on you to start to try and get it through your head that you should come along easily." Focusing on being ready to dodge any counter attack, the speedster launched a quick punch with her right hand, drastically reducing the amount of speed and power that she could normally achieve. However, the villainess was able to sidestep the attack altogether.

Velocity kept moving, zipping back to a spot not far from where she started, shivering slightly as she was still in the extreme cold the woman was generating. "Maybe that was being a little too easy." She commented to no one in particular, her breath visible in the cold air in front of her.

The blue clad woman stepped back when Velocity tried to attack her and then quickly returned back near where she started. She looked at the two heroines a brief moment before stepping forward, both her hands coming up in front of her. "I am not going to prison!" She yelled out as ice began forming in the air above Velocity and Warp, arching down to form an icy dome under which to trap them.

However, despite the bitter cold around them, the reflexes of two heroines were both too well tuned to be caught in the trap. Velocity zipped out from under the dome, just ducking out as one wall finished forming. Warp dove off to one side, rolling under the closing wall and coming back up on her feet off to another side of the dome as it finished forming.

Warp sprung backwards off a hand and landed in a slide, the ice sphere crashing over where she'd stood. In spite of everything, she could feel the corners of her lips twisting up, reveled in the way her blood was pumping. Warp dissolved into darkness and appeared again behind Snowblind, gloved hands clenched. "Ever think of taking up a career in ice sculpting instead?" She quipped, taking aim for something vital, but clearly Warp had taken too long to quip. Snowblind dodged out of the way, and Warp's hit passed uselessly through the air. Another step through entropic space and she was standing back outside the localized snowstorm, halfway crouched.

Shivering slightly in the extreme cold that was being put out by the villainess, Velocity decided that she had given her enough chances and it was just time to try to put this to an end. Speeding back towards the blonde villainess, launching a blinding strike with her right fist. A *CRACK* echoed down the street as the speedster's hand broke the sound barrier.

But, as quick as the attack was, somehow the blue clad villainess managed to avoid it once again. A moment later Velocity was a short distance from Warp, also outside the miniature snow storm. "I'd like to blame it on the cold, but for some reason I'm just off tonight." She stated flatly.

"Are you sure you two just don't want to give up and go home for the night?" The blonde woman called out with a small smile on her face. Tightening her grip on the bag she held in one hand, she took a couple of running steps before she jumped into the air. Almost instant, an ice ramp started forming under her feet, spreading out over the street as she slid along towards the two heroines. As she went, the miniaturized blizzard that had been centered around her suddenly dissipated.

Passing a little over the two on the ice ramp. She aimed a hand over at Warp as she passed, a blast of ice shooting out towards the teenager. But Warp was able to easily dodge aside, the ice instead encasing a lamp post behind her.

If Snowblind was upset by her failure to hit her intended target, she did not show it, but continued down the street on her ice ramp, rounding a corner a block away and then out of sight.

Gritting her teeth, "oh no you—" she vanished in inky-black smoke and reappeared above Snowblind's head, foot already already extended, "—DON'T!" She plummeted toward the weather controller like a rocket, but Snowblind just adjusted her speed a smidgen and Warp overshot, skidding on the ice behind Snowblind and struggling to keep her footing. Her face colored red; God, this was just embarrassing.

"You can't really think you'll outrun a teleporter and a speedster!" Warp braced herself for another jump. Clearly this wasn't working. They needed the fight's momentum back on their side! Warp eyed the bag the loot Snowblind was carrying and nodded to herself.

Velocity immediately turned and followed in the direction that the villainess had gone, expecting to find Warp there as well, as the teen had not teleported back after her attack as she had other times. Turning around the corner at a couple hundred miles an hour, the speedster spotted the two up on the snow using criminal's ice ramp.

Jumping up onto a low point in the ramp, Velocity quickly found her traction on the slick surface and started racing along the ramp towards the pair. In a moment she closed on them, skidding to a stop and swinging her left hand at the villainess. Once again her fist broke the sound barrier with a *CRACK*, but this time, it connected with the villainess jaw.

But, to Velocity's surprise, the Villainess took the hit without any sign that the punch had actually hurt her, as she quickly turned back to regard the two heroines with icy blue eyes.

Snowblind gaze seemed as cold as the miniature snow storm that she had previously been producing. Bringing up both of her hands, she swept them out to either side as she sent a wave of cold and ice out in every direction around her.

Though she was the closest, Velocity reacted instantly, managing to dodge out of the way of the ice and cold. Warp tried to get out of the way of the onslaught, however she was not fully able to avoid the freezing wave.

Biting cold seemed to slam into her, knocking her off her feet and off of the ice ramp. Her skin tingled from the cold as landed on the roof a parked car that had been frosted over by the wave of ice. Her body seemed numb from cold and there were faint stars in front of her eyes as she stayed conscious, but worked to shake off the effect of the attack.

Seemingly satisfied that she had managed to slow down at least one of the heroines, Snowblind continued down the street on her ice slide, going a couple of blocks before taking a left hand turn.

"Warp!" Velocity cried out as she saw the teen knocked off the ice ramp by the blast of cold as Snowblind continued her attempt to try to escape from the two. Zipping over beside the car Warp had landed on, the older heroine quickly checked to be sure she was not seriously injured, satisfied that the other girl was going to recover, she looked back down the street in the direction Snowblind had gone. "Okay, I'm starting to get really tired of the ice queen. Catch up when you can." With that she was off after the villainess with a WOOSH of air.

Rounding the corner after Snowblind, the speedster once again hopped up onto the ice slide, managing to retain her balance as she sped up to the villainess once again.

Once again there was a faint *CRACK* as she managed to land another hit on Snowblind. But just as before, the villainess took the hit with little sign that it had any effect. Okay, this is starting to get ridiculous. Velocity thought to herself.

Snowblind recovered quickly from the hit Velocity managed to land, continuing away some on her ice ramp before looping back around some and gaining a bit of altitude over the section of the ramp the speedster was on. "Don't you just ever give up?" The villainess shouted out as she sent a blast of ice flying at the yellow clad heroine. However, Velocity was just able dodge the blast, which flew harmlessly past to coat a section of the road in ice.

Snowblind let out a cry of frustration at the difficulty she was having in trying to do anything against the speedster and then continued forming her ice ramp and sliding along several blocks further down the street.

Warp groaned and peered at three Velocities, speaking in tandem. She tried to force herself up, but only succeeded in shoving herself off the car and landing on her ass, hard. She gave Velocity a shaky smile. "Save some hits for me!"

And just like that, Velocity was gone, and Warp was alone. She waited till the world stopped spinning forced herself off the ground and vanished with a thought, appearing the lip of a rooftop where she had seen Ice Queen run to, hoping to catch a glimpse of the villainess before Warp lost her altogether.

Appearing up on a rooftop along the direction Snowblind and Velocity had gone, Warp could see Snowblind further down the block on her ice ramp, Velocity further back on the ramp, but apparently unhurt.

Velocity sped back down the ramp, slipping slightly at one point but maintaining her footing and continuing after the fleeing villainess. "Well, I kind of figured you would just get tired first and give up actually." Velocity shot back at Snowblind, just as her right hand shot out with another *CRACK*.

*WHAM* This time the punch seemed to land more solidly, as Snowblind's head snapped to the side and she staggered slightly on the ice ramp.

Snowblind snaps her head back to look at Velocity with a fierce glare. Sliding down away from the speedster, the villainess loops back around, gaining some altitude over the heroine. "I am going to freeze you solid!" She called out as she raised her hands in front of her.

Freezing ice shot out towards Velocity, striking her squarely and coating her with a thin layer of ice. However, with a quick blur, the speedster shook off the ice and looked up at Snowblind. "Were you trying to make a snowcone, or hurt me?" The heroine quipped with a faint grin that distracted from the slight shiver she had from the cold.

Shaking her hands to shake off the cold, Warp clenched her hand into a fist and watched writhing darkness crawl down from her shoulder. She aimed her hand at Snowblind and breathed slow, even breaths, trying to keep her center as entropy flowed out from her body. She drew more deeply, guided it out of her heart and down the length of her arm, let it surge and . . .

Black void screamed down from her hand and down from the rooftops, impaling Snowblind in the side, black tendrils of entropy trying—failing—to eat away at Snowblind's defenses before dissipating harmlessly into the street beneath.

Velocity started off once again along the ice ramp to catch back up with Snowblind. However, this time, she hit a slick spot and slid right off the ramp. "Whoa!" She called out as she managed to execute a small flip and land on her feet on the street.

"Well, not quite what I wanted, but…" Standing back up straight, the speedster's hands moved in a blur, towards one of the pouches on her belt as she threw a group of steel ball bearings at the villainess. The projectiles made faint cracks as each went at supersonic speed.

However, the heroine's aim was off and the hypersonic projectiles all missed their target. Velocity let out a little sigh of frustration at the turn of events.

"Not quite good enough." Snowblind replied with a small smile as she aimed a hand down at Velocity to send out another blast of ice and cold. But once again the fleet speedster easily dodged out of the way of the attack. The villainess let out a little growl of frustration at the failure of her attack. "What does it take to just get away with a little larceny in this town!"

Turning away, she began sliding away once more, forming more ice ramps underneath her as she went. Moving down to the next intersection, she once again turned a corner and was out of sight.

Warp saw Snowblind round the corner and made the leap to the other side, hoping to head the ice-controller off again and this time, get a proper hit off. But by the time Warp got there, Snowblind was completely gone. Her eyes traced the icy trail of the villainess over the pavement and into the subway tunnel, and Warp hissed a word and smashed a fist impotently into her side. The day had looked like it was going to end so well, and then, then it'd soured like milk left in the sun for a week. Someone had to pay. With another thought Kat brought herself down into the subway, materializing in smoke, on the lookout for women trailing ice and snow.

Warp appeared down on the platform of the subway station to find a somewhat chaotic scene. There were more than a dozen people that had been waiting on the platform. Those closest to Warp reacted with a bit of alarm at her sudden appearance. The rest were still focused on Snowblind, who was about in the middle of the platform on her snow ramp, which was lower than it had been outside due to the ceilings in the station.

Snowblind was looking around quickly as if trying to figure out what her next step would be. When Warp appeared, her head snapped over in the teen's direction, her piercing blue eyes focusing on the young heroine.

There was a WOOSH of air as Velocity comes zipping down the stairs and onto the platform, following the ice slide. The yellow clad speedster weaved around a few of the civilians who barely even had time to register she was there before she was past them. Ducking under part of the ice ramp, she moved along the right side of the ramp, speeding towards Snowblind.

The blonde haired villainess was just turning around towards the speedster when Velocity leapt into the air at her. With her momentum and acrobatic ability, the speedster easily made the twelve foot high leap, passing close to Snowblind as she arched over the ice ramp.

*CRACK* Velocity's right hand shot out once again, slamming squarely into Snowblind's chest.

*WHAM* The hypersonic punch connected solidly with the villainess, sending her flying off of her snow ramp while Velocity's leap carried her the rest of the way over the ramp. Executing a quick piked front flip, the speedster opened back up to land in a crouch at the end of her leap.

Snowblind flew a good thirty feet, and likely would have gone further, if she had not hit a support column close to Warp. She seemed to barely be hanging to consciousness and was currently dazed. The bag of money the villainess had been carrying landed between the two.

Warp blinked as Snowblind flew literally across the subway, landing with a heavy impact against the wall and tumbling to the subway floor in a heap. She sauntered over to Snowblind and crouched down in front of the villainess. "You know, Icy," she said, thoughtful. "I've heard that mercy is the mark of a great hero." She smiled, and Snowblind struggled to try to get upright again.

Then Warp drove her fist right between the villain's eyes, sending her head lolling back while her body went slack and senseless. "Guess I'm just a good one." Warp said, standing up and shaking sensation back into her hand. She nudged the bag of money with her foot and it vanished into darkness, sealed away into her private dimension, where'd it'd be safe until they could hand it back.

In a moment, Velocity was over next to Warp as she teenager secured the stolen money. "Nice job." The speedster said to the teen with a small smile. "I was beginning to think it was going to take all night to stop her."

There were a few cheers and applause from some of the bystanders, who now seemed to have realized what was going on. There were also a few taking pictures or video with their smartphones.

"Think you can teleport her back to the bank with you so we can hand her over to the cops when they get there?" Velocity asked Warp.

Warp couldn't help but preen a little under all the cheering and pictures. Her cheeks reddened with an embarrassment so closely twined with pride that it was the same thing. Ah, yes, Kat felt her heart trying to rise up through her throat. This was why she was a hero.

"Absolutely." Warp put a hand on her waist and nodded at Velocity while the people watched. Kat gave them the the hero they were expecting and loved every minute of it. Her eyes shined red, and with a gesture she split the air into red-pulsing darkness. Warp leaned down and pulled Snowblind up by hanging one of the wintery woman's arms around her neck. "I'll meet you there." She turned toward the people in the subway and gave them a little wave before she stepped through the dark portal.

Velocity had a faint smile at the sight of Warp basking in the glow of appreciation from some of the civilians gathered on the subway platform. The speedster knew the feeling well herself, and while she might normally have been more vocal or willing to pose herself, she kept things low key, after all, Warp was the one who had needed some motivational support not more than ten minutes earlier.

As soon as the teen gathered up the villainess and prepared to step through her portal back to the bank, the older heroine vanished in a blur of yellow, zipping back up the stairs to the street above.

Stepping through the portal, Warp arrived outside the bank to find several FCPD patrol cars now gathered around. Several of the officers were looking at her portal with looks of surprise and alarm as they began reaching for their firearms.

"Whoa hold on!" Velocity called as she appeared between the nearest officers and the teen with her hands held up in front of her. "We're the good guys here, just brining the one responsible for all this back after we had to run her down."

The appearance of the speedster provide yet another surprise for the officers, but they visually relaxed as they recognized her.

Stepping out back in front of the bank, Warp found herself in the company of a dozen oh-so-grateful looking police officers. Her face when pale when she saw them reaching for their guns . . . Of course they did. She was considering dropping Snowblind and warping somewhere far away until she could leave the money on their doorstep when Velocity stepped in.

Warp shrugged the villainess off and held up her hands. No trouble, see? "We got what she was trying to take too. See?" Warp grasped the air and caught darkness, which collapsed downward and solidified into a bag. She dropped it to the pavement. "You're welcome, by the way."

A pair of officers took Snowblind into custody as another apologized to Warp for their initial reaction. "Just can never be too careful here when some sort of hole appears in the air. Never know what’s going to come out of it." The officer stated.

While other officers went about securing the stolen money as well as the rest that had still been inside the smashed ATM machine a pair took statements from Velocity and Warp. It took about ten minutes before the officers had everything they needed from the two heroines. Now that the stress of an uncertain situation was gone, the officers were much more relaxed and friendly to the pair, several thanking them after they had finished giving their statements.

Leaving the police to finish securing the scene, the pair departed, making their way to another rooftop only a half dozen blocks away. By this point, Warp was no longer feeling any of the effects of the attack that the villainess had hurt her with.
