The leader of the gunmen finished climbing out of the pool of water, as he finished loading another spear into his speargun.  He then aimed the weapon at Warp and fired.  The flat headed spear, which again crackling electricity, streaked across the room, hitting the teen on the shoulder as the electrical charge arched across her body.

 

Two of the gunmen who had just arrived though the door to the launch bay moved further into the room, trying to spread out so that the Asian teen could not catch them both in an attack like they had just seen her use on their companions.  Both levelled their pistols at Tsunami and opened fire.  One of the bullets struck the teen on her side, but the swirling sheen of water surrounding her helped deflect the bullet without any harm.  The second shot missed the teen, thought it came very close.

Natas' shot hit and electricity ran through Warp's body; her vision went dark around the edges and it threatened to take her down. But when the charge stopped coming Warp was right back to her senses, and she was staring at Natas with narrow eyes. Another flicker of darkness and she was standing right to his side. Warp made a swipe at his hand, trying to knock the speargun away . . . but the charge must have disoriented Warp more than she'd guessed, because she missed by a wide mile, and she was forced to retreat back a distance with nothing to show for it.

The third new arrival rushes forward some as well, before aming his pistol at Warp and firing.  However, his attack does not come anywhere near the agile teen.

 

Despite being grazed by a bullet from one of the new arrivals, Tsunami turns her attention towards the leader of the gunmen.  Bringing her hands up in front of her, the Asian teen sends a blast of water at the man.  But her timing was well off, and the twisting jet of water streaked well wide of the man, smashing into some equipment behind him with tremendous force.

Having avoided Warp's latest attempt to take away his speargun and avoiding a blast of water from Tsunami, the leader of the gunmen loads another spear, this one with a razor sharp head, and aims the weapon at Tsunami before firing.  The spear streaked across the room, but at the last minute, the Asian teen managed to dodge aside, and the spear continued on to clang off a metal beam beyond.

 

Two of the other gunmen take aim at Warp with their pistols, opening fire one after the other.  The first shot was well wide of the teen, but the second shot zipped dangerously close, the teen hearing the faint *crack* of its passage near her shoulder.

 

Meanwhile, the hole caused by Warp continued to pump water into the chamber, as the submarine began to shift slightly as if it was starting to move.

Warp appeared right in front of Natas and seized the end of his spear, and her scowl turned into a feral grin. "Let's see how well you do without your toy," she hissed and brought down a hand on both his wrists in

Warp brought down a hand on his wrist, forcing it off the weapon. She grunted, struggling to wrench and twist it away from the villain . . . and then she was reeling back, momentarily off-balance from winning the tug-of-war. Another moment's effort and she was out of reach, examining Natas' weapon with a smile. "Thank you! For my next trick," she sang, "I'll make this overblown dart gun disappear."

After spinning away from almost being hit by the sharp tipped spear, Tsunami came to a halt in a back stance, just in time to see Warp disappear with the speargun the leader of the gunmen had been using. The Asian teen once again brought her hands up in front of her and another coiling jet of water shot out towards the armoured man.

This time, the teen's aim was perfect, the powerful jet of water slamming into the centre of his chest. However, he was barely staggered by the impact, seemingly unaffected as he remained upright and focused on the two teens.

Shaking off the powerful jet of water, the leader of the gunmen rushed forward towards Warp, water dripping from his armoured wetsuit from Tsunami's attack.  As he drew close to the teen holding his speargun, he leapt into the air bringing up his right knee in an attempt to deliver a powerfully flying knee attack on Warp.

 

However, at the last minute, Tsunami rushed over, intercepting the attack that would have hit Warp, her water covered arms crossed in front of her.  The Asian teen's arms caught the mercenary leader's knee, deflecting it away as he landed back on the metal grating, facing off with her.

 

Two of the gunmen had been tracking Tsunami, about to fire on her again, but when she moved into melee with their leader, they shifted their aim towards Warp.  Both fired, but their shot went well wide.

The leader glanced over towards the other gunman.  "Close the doors and start the pumps!"  He shouted.

Warp's eyes went big as she watched Natas close in fast, too fast for her to dodge . . . When Tsunami slipped in front of her, taking the brunt of the hit and absorbing it into her water shield. Warp breathed, holding the spearman's gun and concentrating. Darkenss spread across her fingers until it consumed the weapon before it lost its solidity altogether and flowed into her hand. Kat put a hand on Tsunami's shoulder. "Thanks for that," she smiled, sliding close alongside Tsunami and whipping out her foot, digging her boot's heels into Natas' chest with enough force to send him rocking.

Natas staggered back slightly from the power of Warp's kick, a grunt of pain barely audible from behind the tinted faceplate of his helmet.  But he remained on his feet, clearly still in the fight.

 

Across the room, one of the three gunmen rushed over towards a control panel overlooking the pool of water below.  Activating some of the controls on the panel, yellow lights began to flash along the walls of the room, as the two teenagers could hear the muffled sounds of metal doors beginning to close beneath them.

Tsunami gave a small nod in response to Warp’s thanks, keeping her attention focused on Natas and the other gunmen.  Seeing Warp successfully cause some damage to Natas, the Asain teen turned slightly to her right, brining her hands up to send a blast of water streaking across the room towards one of the other gunmen.

 

The twisting jet of water slammed squarely into the man’s chest, sending him flying backward to slam into the wall before crumpling to the floor unconscious. 

Tsunami then turned back to face Natas, bringing her hands back in front of her in a defensive stance.

Natas watched as Warp removed his speargun from the fight, placing it in her personal dimensional space.  As the Asian teen picked off another of his men, the mercenary leader growled slightly.  Stepping forward, he launched a left jab at Tsunami, the Asian teen shifting to block the attack, but she had barely begun to block the jab, when he brought his right knee up, driving it into Tsunami's side.  The thin sheen of water that covered the Asian teen took the brunt of the attack, but it still connected with enough force to cause her to let out a small cry of pain, though she remained on her feet.

 

The other gunman who had been firing at the two superheroines lifted his pistol up towards the ceiling as they both became engaged in melee with his boss.  Not wanting to risk hitting Natas, the gunman instead rushed forward, moving up towards Warp and swinging his pistol at the teen.  However, Warp was easily able to dodge out of the way of the clumsy attack.

Warp dove expertly under the gunman's arm as he swung, her grin slanted to the side as she stepped forward and caught him in the side with an open palm, sent him staggering backward, over the railing, into the drink with a splash. "You know," Warp said. "They might lighten your sentence if you decide to cooperate before we drag your bodies to police. I think the penalty for child abduction is supposed to be pretty bad." She spun where she stood using the momentum from the turn to drove her foot hard into Natas' guard . . . but it held up bravely.

The last conscious mercenary in the room was still at the control panel he had moved to following his leader's previous orders about closing the bay doors and starting the water pumps.  Though he glanced up at the melee from time to time, he was mainly focused on the controls in front of him.  He flipped some more switches and levers, and then the sound of mechanical pumps started echoing from somewhere under the water in the lower part of the bay.

 

The man then snatched back up his pistol, looking back over at the melee as he moved over to try to help Natas.  Down below, the water level in the pool below began to lower slightly, despite the additional water pouring in from the hole Warp had created…

Tsunami shifted slightly away from Natas after taking a knee to her left side.  The mercenary leader was proving to be rather dangerous, even without his speargun.  The Asian teen also noted that the pumps that the other man had activated appeared to be able to handle enough volume to not only remove the water that was already in the lower part of the bay, but the additional water coming in from the hole Warp had created.  That would not help to force the submarine to the surface.

 

Turning towards the remaining mercenary who had been at the controls as he started towards her, Warp and Nata, Tsunami brought her hands up in front of her to send a blast of water over at the man.  The jet of water slammed squarely into him, knocking him clear off his feet and sending him flying across the room to slam into a far wall.  The man was clearly unconscious when he fell to the ground.

Natas seemed to gain a bit of confidence as his last attack appeared to hurt the Asian teenager some.  Now that the water pumps were going, he was confident that the flooding caused by the teenagers could be contained, and the sub could remain underwater for the time being. 

Looking over at the other teen, his cold voice replied back.  "Perhaps the two of you should just quit while our ahead.  We are heading out to sea now, so what are you going to do then?" 

He followed up his question with a kick aimed at Warp, however, the agile teen managed to dodge aside.

Warp aimed her hand toward the pumping console, her eyes shining a brighter red. In her limited experience, when part of something broke, the rest followed along with it. Entropy coiled up her arm and flickered, dark at first, then flaring red as she stumbled across something in the dark part of her entropy had holed inside; not creeping and caustic, but bright and wild and violent. She let it loose before it could turn on her body and halfway dissolved the console in a flash. When she could see it again, Warp saw a halfway destroyed machine. It was like a huge chunk of the thing, including the moniter and controls, had gone missing.

 

She listened for a moment for the pipes to slow, stutter, fail. They did none of those things. "Oh come on," Warp said, "That ain't fair."

"What did you expect..."  The mercenary leader began to reply to Warp as she expressed her disappointment in failing to shut down the water pumps.  But he was interrupted when Tsunami sent one of her water blasts flying at him, this one once again slamming squarely into his chest. 

 

This time, the blast clearly caught the man off guard, as he gave a loud grunt of pain and was knocked off his feet and sent flying backwards more than ten feet to slam back down on the steel grating.  He began to try to push himself back upright, but was clearly disoriented and injured.

Warp tried to draw from the same wellspring that had given her shot such punch, but she couldn't find it again; the only thing she found was writhing darkness. "Fine. If it isn't gonna stop . . ." She pointed her hand toward the other side of the sub. "We just gotta make it not matter." She let loose a tangle of howling entropy against the other side of the sub where it writhed and devoured the steel until water tore through the side, pouring into the main submarine. Warp turned toward Tsunami. "Can you screw up those pumps somehow? Keep the water from draining maybe?"

"I can certainly try."  Tsunami replied as Warp asked her if she could try to jam the water pumps.  The Asian teen looked down towards the water below them, seemingly looking for something.  After a few brief moments, she had located where the water was being suctioned out of the bay. 

Focusing her power there, Tsunami took control of the water that was being forced out by the pumps, struggling to hold it in place.  For a second or two, it almost seemed as if the pumps would succeed in the struggle, but the teen managed to stop the water, keeping it in place as the pumps tried to force more water out.  There was a sound of metal grinding, and then what sounded like something mechanical breaking and the pumps stopped working and went silent.

Over along the grated walkway, the mercenary leader had pushed himself up into a sitting position as he looked over towards Warp and Tsunami as they went about breaking more of the submarine.  "Well, if you two are so instant on sinking this boat, let me give you a hand."  His cold voice echoed through his mask, pain still evident in his voice.  In his hand he held a small cylinder device with a button on the top, which he pressed down on with his thumb.

 

Somewhere inside the submarine, there was the sound of a muffled explosion.  But the two teenagers barely had time to consider where it might be when the lights in the room flickered, and then went out all together, plunging the room into complete darkness.

Warp laughed as pipes choked on themselves. "Nice one." They had Nemo here on the ropes. A little more and they'd have him at their mercy. And then he pulled out the detonator chord, and Warp's expression tightened, confused. He's not that dumb, she thought. Is he?

 

An explosion rocked her feet in answer, and everything went dead dark. For a long, tense moment Warp waited for the rest of the ship to follow, ready to grab Tsunami and make like the better part of valor. She waited for a tense moment, but did not see any cascading walls of fire no matter where she looked. "I know it's supposed to be tradition to go down with the ship," Warp said into the darkness. "But I didn't think you were stupid enough to pull a lassy and take it out behind the shed to shoot it. As far as last gambits go, I give it a three out of ten, right next to the castle with the big red self-destruct button."

Plunged into darkness, there was little sound in the room that could be heard over the splashing of water that was pouring in through the two holes Warp had made in the submarine's side.  Then, some emergency lights began to flicker and then provided some faint illumination in the room.  The mercenary leader was nowhere to be seen.  All the unconscious mercenaries were still where they had fallen, and the mesh nets were still floating in the water, some of the Deep One infants having started to tear their way free of them at this point.

 

The pair could feel that the submarine was no longer moving, and then, the entire vessel shook as it settled onto the river bottom.

Tsunami looked around the room for a moment, the looked back over to Warp. The water level was already lapping at the two teenagers' feet, and rising quickly.

"We need to get those three men out of here." She stated, indicating the three men who had come from inside the submarine. "They do not have their breathing apparatus on."

"We also need to get them back to the aquarium." The Asian teen added, looking over towards the Deep One infants. "If you can carry some back after getting those men clear, I should be able to bring the others, along with those men who have their SCUBA equipment on."

[Curious Key]

Beat.

 

She waited a while longer, till the water started slipped into her boots. Natas didn't bite, If he was even around to bite anymore. She clenched her teeth and crossed her arms a moment. "Gotcha," Warp breathed at last, trudging through the water and laying a hand on the sleepers for just long enough to pull them into her dimensional pocket.

 

Warp turned down the walkway, lost in the dark water except for the weight beneath her feet and the guardrails extending up on either side. She made a cutting motion and the world ripped open, leaving a long dark vertical fissure with redness at its edges. "I could just keep this open for you if you'd like," Warp offered more subdued already, reaching over the side and grabbing hold of the mesh. It seemed a terrible way to hold these kids but . . . she didn't want want to risk their teeth. "It wouldn't be trouble."
