Uninverted Posted October 30, 2007 Author Posted October 30, 2007 Maelstrom stood outside of the Lucky Sevens Casino, planning. He ran through all possible course of action in his head, and though that the most likely to work was a blast in the door, "This is a stickup!" approach. Not only would he have the element of surprise, but most people would be too afraid to do anything. So that's what he did. He slammed open the doors, and sent the strongest winds he possibly could through the casino. While maintaining the gale, he yelled, "It would be in everyone's best interest to get on the ground as quickly as possible." For added effect, he rose into the air, and pointed his hands upwards in the standard "Infinite Power" gesture.

beard Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 Maelstrom The force of your winds is truly impressive, so impressive in fact they almost blew the door clear of their hinges. As you maintain the gale force winds into the building money and chips and playing cards as well as food and drinks and a few of the lighter people go tumbling. You shout over your winds but the force of them has made it impossible to hear, your posing however gets the point across to at least a few of the employees who start either ducking under their tables or trying to make a break for the back room.

Shadowboxer Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 Nightrival High above the crowds and flashing neon lights along the Boardwalk, Nightrival dashes across the casino rooftops. He keeps to the shadows, concealing his presence from any casual onlookers that might give him away. Normally, the dark avenger wouldn't venture so far from the Southside. But, after patrolling the grimy alleys for days without even spotting a jaywalker, he craves the noise and excitement only the Boardwalk can offer. Where are all the crooks these days? he thinks as he deftly somersaults from one rooftop to another, it's like they all took a holiday or something. Suddenly, he feels a slight breeze pass over him, followed by a tremendous CRASH! He turns to the direction of the sound, narrowing his eyes. What was that? he thinks. Rushing to the rooftop ledge behind a neon sign, he quickly finds the source of the noise. Someone in a costume is standing at the entrance of another casino across the street, the doors blown open and hanging off their hinges. Inside, Nightrival can see the patrons running away as fast as they can. Unless that's the floor show, those folks are gonna get hurt. Leaping off the roof like a coiled spring, he lands on the sidewalk below, then immediately bounds into another leap to close the distance between him and the troublemaker. Nightrival sails ten feet in the air and executes a perfect landing, crouching in a ready stance, his fists up and waiting. "You know," he yells out above the howling wind, "that's not how you play poker."

Uninverted Posted November 1, 2007 Author Posted November 1, 2007 Maelstrom saw the new arrival as a possible threat. He could be dangerous, so to immobilize him if he was, and humiliate him if wasn't, he ceased the barrage of winds and shot a blast of air at his opponent's legs. Maybe if he played his cards right (no pun intended) this could frighten the gamblers even more. ((OOC: Attack: http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1347886 Trip roll: http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1347877))

beard Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 What sounds like a small tornado comes rushing at the Nightrival right around the level of his knees. The gust of wind moved so quickly the agile martial artist had no time to dodge out of its way but with a quick tuck and roll to the side he was able to maintain a fighting pose and his pride for the time being. As Maelstrom turned his attention to this new interloper the guards who had been closing in on him backed off, still keeping their guns drawn and ready but waiting to see what happened next as the patrons and regular staff all fled for the back door or employee exits.

Shadowboxer Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Nightrival That was too close, Nightrival thinks as he regains his composure. He notes the two guards standing behind his opponent, but does nothing to acknowledge their presence. They might be on my side, and I could use the help. Within a few seconds he has taken his surroundings into account, even the chandelier inside the casino. With a quick heave he tumbles along the ground towards his target then breaks into a series of front flips, in hopes of disorientating Maelstrom. As soon as he gets within striking distance, Nightrival braces for a upper-cut but instead sends a spinning back kick.

Uninverted Posted November 3, 2007 Author Posted November 3, 2007 Maelstrom covered his chin, only to be attacked with a kick. Even though he was caught off guard, the field of turbulence around him deflected the blow for him. He should end this quickly. "Looks like you're not too great at blackjack. How about the slots?" Maelstrom cackled, while throwing a slot machine at the hero with a fierce wind. ((http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1350583))

Shadowboxer Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 Nightrival With the wind roaring in his ears, Nightrival watches as a violent gust tears a slot machine off the wall and hurtles itself directly at him! I'll have to time this right, he thinks, tensing his legs. The flying slot machine gets within inches of him, and he vaults over it in a single roll as it soars down the casino's corrider. Nightrival hears a deafening crunch and shattering glass out on the sidewalk just as he lands on his feet. "Sorry pal," he replies, "but only chumps play the slots." Nightrival steps towards Maelstorm and lashes out with a sweep kick, hooking his opponent's ankle with the crook of Nightrival's foot. Let's hope I can actually pull this off, he laments.

Uninverted Posted November 6, 2007 Author Posted November 6, 2007 This was starting to irritate Maelstrom. He wasn't really losing, but missing with every attack and landing on the ground meant he certainly wasn't winning. This was a bad thing. His opponent was just too fast. Maybe he shouldn't try to hit him with something, but try to hit something with him. So without even getting up, he started funneling air to the spot right below the hero's feet. Once the air under him was dense enough, he sent all of it upwards, hoping his opponent would travel with it, and slam into the ceiling.
